I'll make sure to have a case of redbulls in the refrigerator so you don't have suffer an entire day. Haha. It's Saints vs Seattle that day too, and I was thinking about walking over after the game. A couple Of buddies coming into town from Austin staying with my youngest brother are going to that and trying to get back for Puscifer. But then I though that Voodoo is generally a Top 1 or Top 2 party weekend of the year. And I'll be crying for more by Monday even with Big G that night to ease the pain a little. I'm not bipolar, but I will get manic around festival time. Woo.
Good work there Postjack. You might be right with the layout. I'm guessing they will angle Le Plur so that it blasts away at angle that wont bounce back at any of the other stages. It doesn't mean that there won't be any bleed with loud ass DJs, but it was pretty minimal last year except when Flow Tribe was on the main stage and Hundred Waters was on Carnival. And that was more to do with some of the very soft portions of songs Hundred Waters plays. Otherwise, the only time there was bleed that I heard was walking between stages. I'm also wondering how much more room they are taking up and what that means for mobility. Last couple of years the longest walk was between Altar and Flambeau (which I think was the one farthest out). That still only took a few minutes. Prior to that it was out to the EDM stage which was at the other end. Since I'm all over the map each day, mobility will be important for maximizing sets.
I'm not sure if I'm going to dress up this year or not. I'm pretty broke until Voodoo weekend, and I haven't been feeling creative. However, the recent rash of scary clowns kind of has me wanting to just bring candy and troll people.
Last year the bleed wasn't that bad, but I am not sure I didn't notice because of the rain issues. The year before though it was HORRIBLE (only between Carnival and Alter though). Manchester Orchestra vs. Tab Benoit was the WORST and both complained about it. You could hear Tab bitching and then Andy Hull would say stuff in between songs as well. He also commented on Tab's complaining which was great.
So guys... what's the deal with costumes? Is that a thing for all 3 days, or will it mostly be Sunday this year?
There will be a ton of people dressed up all three days. More will be dressed up on Sunday especially since Halloween is on Monday. The most common outfit will be Waldo. We had a contest of who could find the most...I won taking a photo of 21 Waldos all together. Seriously be more original than that please.
I personally have ordered a brand new onsie, and then have my choice of either my batman onsie, my zebra onsie, my giraffe onsie or my cute spirit hoodie. Or like a shit-ton of other cute, comfortable costumes. The key is comfort and what you are comfortable in. I am assuming you are like most on here and planning on being out all day/night, so you are going to want to be comfortable in whatever you decide to wear.
Yup, definitely going to be out all day/night. I usually like to do costumes with makeup and all that but it just seems like too much to deal with over 3 loooong days. That's funny about the Waldos, had no idea lol. I'll be on the look out! But no, I couldn't bring myself to be quite that lame.
haha. I still have my fake dynamite which I left at home after deciding that "fake weapons" were completely banned, and there was no way to literally smuggle in 3 sticks of plastic dynamite with plastic wicks. Hahaha. I had to adapt to being a kinder, gentler sheik. I know plenty of Jews but I don't really know how to do a Rabbi as I don't really know their prayers or hand signals or anything. It's easy enough to get a robe and a skullcap and some sideburns, but then there's not much interaction I'll know what to do, particularly if I get trolled and am supposed to know a response or whatever.
If I had more money, I could figure out a way to be a redneck Trump voter like Kenny on Southpark's Dad looking motherfucker or something. But it's too easy to be a mulleted redneck, and it's been done before. Other than a Gorilla suit, I prefer to put something behind a costume rather than buying one, but that requires I have some shit to work with. Outside of political shit, I don't really have the creativity at the moment. And you already know 5% of the crowd will be doing politics.
Yo! Ticket prices increase again on the 14th at 7pm! If for some weird, dumb, uninformed reason you have NOT bought your tickets yet, get on that shit now.
EDIT (actual prices): 3-Day General Admission Tickets will be increasing to $165, 1-Day General Admission Tickets to $79 and 3-Day Loa VIP Tickets to $475.
It looks like they are lowering the over ticket price. I could still see single days go to $90, but LOA was up to $600 (or was it $550) last year. I don't see it going higher than $500 at this point and weekend passes are looking to be around $175 and not $200. Just some food for thought.
APP is out. Looks pretty good, map is intriguing. Set up my schedule but haven't done anything else with it. Charles Bradley & Extrordinaires are still on the schedule so that will obviously change at some point. I'll give it a look later today when I have time.

Y'all nola ppl don't forget about Crescent City Blues & BBQ this weekend. Free Taj Mahal show is pretty sweet. Got to see the final nola performance from Allen Toussaint at the one last year with the funky Meters, that was a blast.

Yeah, me too. Got Chance tomorrow and then GRiZ next Friday as the primers. So it's 2 weeks and 2 days. I'll probably be en route with a 32oz Whiskey and C02 water about this time Friday 2 weeks. I want to get in early on Friday and hit some of the sponsors and grab a bandana and zippo and whatever else they have. I don't really have anything until 3:30 (Lunice/Mutemath), and I don't think Friday day will have that many people (as opposed to Saturday which is probably going to be a zoo/disaster at some point).
Looks like they're tinkering with the schedule if it's right on the App.
There are probably more, but these are the ones that affect my schedule.
Friday 1) Lunice bumped up to 3:30pm Friday which now conflicts with Mutemath. I'll probably catch 10 minutes of Lunice before heading over to Mutemath.
2) Foals moved to 5:30pm Friday from 6:00
Saturday 3) Lennon/Claypool Delirium moved up to 5:30 from 6:00 Saturday. This opens up about my only gap in the schedule besides early shows. I could catch 15 minutes of DJ Mustard (CheesedickOrDie76 said the second half the show the other day was good), give me a shot to see Shaky Graves if I like him, and if not, split with Allison Wonderland.
4) Excision - Moved up to 8:15 from 8:30. That should give me a chance to see a little bit of Excision, Ghost and possibly a minute or two of Rebelution if I take the back way to get to the front left for Tool.
Sunday 5) Snails moved up to 5:00 from 5:30. I'll have to see if I want to catch the second half of his set or split with Band of Horses until going to 20 minutes of Gramatik.
So we have Jeremy's little girl the weekend of Voodoo, she is now 12. I had to buy her a ticket today. It was $7 cheaper to buy both our tickets during pre-sale. I told Jeremy he owes me and from now on, we are buying her a ticket during pre-sale. Geez $188 for a $155 Voodoo ticket after fucking fees and USPS shipping. FUCK.
