Shhhhh, don't you dare put that J Cole curse on us!
he just canceled on the f1 race shows here in Austin. Usher with The Roots replaced him.
Id be ecstatic if that happened at Voodoo
PS Fuck the Weekend. I don't get this dude. His set n production gets trashed at Hangout yet he still performs, then he bails on Meadowlands and this F1.
The Weeknd doesn't have Voodoo listed on his tour dates on his website.
I hope he cancels, that guy is a clown and his music sucks the big one.
I would gladly take Usher over that. Better yet, they need to book R. Kelly, his Roo set was incredible. Knowing Voodoo they would book Green Day or some other uninspired crap.

Maybe. But it would be rock and not some crooner/R&B shit. Green Day (and shit like the Offspring) is like 3rd or 4th Generation punk stuff. I was never a fan, but I'd see them in a heartbeat over Weeknd.
On the other hand, I'd take Ludacris, Wu Tang Clan (whole or in parts), D'Angelo, Lil Wayne, Metallica again or just about anything over The Weeknd. None of my kids like Carnage, and they are no strangers to DJ sets. I don't know him, so I figured pass by. If it sucks, leave early Friday and get a jump on sleep for what is going to be an absolutely insane Saturday for me.
*edit* to say the 15 minutes of the J. Cole set I saw at Jazz Fest was pretty entertaining. It was NOLA tailored and at Jazz Fest, so maybe it was an anomaly.

i used to like some of Carnage's remixes from years back, right around when trap was becoming a thing in EDM, but if you check out his Ultra 2016 set on youtube it's pretty uninspiring IMO. He seems to be one of those guys who has forgotten clean bass is important, his "drops" are super high BPM treble explosions, they sound like a sped up Nintendo game. Then he'll fade the music out and fade it back in to some random pop vocal, rinse and repeat.
My wife was looking forward to The Weeknd, would be a slight bummer in the postjack household if he cancels.
Anywho I'm having a hard time focusing on Voodoo because I've got three phish shows between now and then. Jacksonville this Sunday then Alpharetta x2 the following weekend.
Nice little Phish run there. I was in the same boat heading into Bear Creek Bayou. Now that it's past and I sold my Chance ticket, I only have GRiZ next weekend. So I'm prime focused. I might have gone to G. jones at Republic this weekend, but that's too small for him. That leaves New Mastersounds and Turkuaz next week. I think I may hit that
Tuxedo got announced for the Joy on 10/28, with my boys Super Nice Bros and DJ Charles III opening. Will prob hit this up unless Howlin' Wolf announces a funk show. Wtf are they doing? Waiting way too late to announce.
Monsters of Funk will be fantastic but the Joy is a pain in the ass with their metal wands etc
Also, the MOMs Halloween Ball is at Southport Hall again on 10/29 but tickets are open to the public this time. As usual with MOMs the best costumes in nola will be there.
Wish they had open sales in 2014, it was a pain in the ass getting tix to see Kung Fu there, but def worth it.
Gonna suck missing MOMS Mardi Gras ball next year since my girl doesn't live in nola anymore. =/ Fuck couch surfing during Mardi Gras.

I am right across the river from downtown and have an actually bedroom if you need a place to crash.
I am curious as to why y'all are thinking that the Weeknd is going to cancel? Just because his website isn' up-to-date with Voodoo? Or is there some other reason?

He has cancelled many times.
Once for Jimmy Kimmel Twice for Meadowlands Once for F1 this weekend
He canceled one of those because of Kim though, right? And he played most of his set. Idk if I want him to cancel two weeks out. Green Day we knew was going to cancel way before they actual did, and voodoo was probably already looking for a contingency plan. Plus, it was further out than this. You think they have a backup just hanging in the wings?
Oh and anyone decided on costumes? One of my kids' posse was doing old people. I was in for a Walmart grandma, but I don't think they are ending up doing it. I've never dressed up except when Voodoo actually fell on Halloween. So I'm. 50/50 for Saturday 2 weeks out. I don't know if I'll really be wanting to slam, mosh and headbang in a fucking mu mu though. Haha. I don't fucking know. Another one and his old lady aren't really doing Halloween but are stitching together their Mother Nature and Father Time shit. I know my daughter will end up dressing up one day and my oldest probably all 3.
Wristband is in today. They look pretty good in person with the silver stitching and then the fading sky from orange to green to almost blue-green.
I have pretty much decided that I'm going full train wreck at Voodoo. I was way way too good at Bear Creek, and some psychos I know will also be there along with most of you. Outside of specifically rock fests, I don't usually get a day's worth in at most multi-genre festivals. But considering that The Pretty Reckless, All Them Witches (loving the fuck out of them the more I listen), Bully, Cage the Elephant, Tool, Lennon/Claypool, Ghost and the mini-Reignwolf set are Saturday, it's going to be on.
Being able to see the map up close makes a difference. It's cool the way they paralleled the Main Stage and Le Plur with the sound coming the same way and toward the SSW. Cool, also, that they'll be alternating the 2 smaller stages with the main stage so there can be no bleed between them. The one that will be the test is whether the back of Le Plur bleeds at all over to South Course. I'm assuming not the way they are angled. Also from the map, I'm not sure what the skull and crossbones is but I'm thinking that's maybe a death drop or something since it's fairly close to the icon for the ferris wheel. There is Brew Dat which is apparently a craft brew hut and then "Wine Bar." Food Court is along a roadway, so that will help if there is any rain. FWIW, it hasn't rained here all October so far with the exception of a sprinkle or two the night Hurricane Matthew was near East FL. Hopefully it will stay that way. 10-15 days forecast (the legitimate one, not the one feeding into weather apps) has most of the Eastern US under much warmer than normal temps. Obviously a front can get in and fuck shit up, but hopefully that's not going to happen.
So thejeremy and I are doing Dr. Horrible's evil sing-a-long one day, if we can pull it together. For Saturday I'm wearing butterfly wings that are cloth and my birthday crown for my Tool-Voodoo birthday celebration! I'm trying to find a light-up crown. And probably one of my super comfy batman outfits on whichever other day.

Got my email this weekend saying my wristband has shipped w my hetty ticket stub.
I got all of mine on Saturday, even the one that I ordered last week for Jeremy's daughter. I like them. They are like the ACL ones all soft materials and shit; which makes since since it is all through Front Gate Tickets now.
It feels like Voodoo really stepped up their game this year (so far). We know that they have a soft drink vendor since Pepsi is a sponsor this year (would prefer Coke, but SODAS!). The whole Voodoo package with your wristbands and the wristbands themselves are really nicely produced and look great. Hopefully the change in the layout and they way that they are doing the schedule will be the icing on a perfect cake.
I am so excited y'all!! We need a Tool front row meet-up.
Also wish it was coke and not pepsi. Not gonna want to buy a pepsi to use as a mixer for my smuggled rum =/
Anyone heard what's up with Howlin' Wolf Fri/Sat night? Can't believe they don't have anything announced yet. Friday is def looking like the Joy, mainly due to Longinus and I getting guest'd but if something crazy pops up I'm sure we will hit it up.
Monsters of Funk at Joy on Saturday is also looking like a lock but I am waiting on Howlin' Wolf before I buy a ticket.
Couple of other shows I found on Satchmo this morning:
Saturday is going to be a f'n zoo. I'll be a caged animal. ----------------------------------- Republic announced a night show on Friday "Hosted by G. Easy." It doesn't give much other information, but I'm guessing he'll probably have other rappers and musicians come out and rap or sing with him?

That's going to be impossible. I'm hoping I can just hit the outside left near-ish toward the front so I can see. I'm going to catch all of Cage the Elephant and head over to about 30 minutes of Excision and then come back for about 25 minutes or so of Ghost. I'm hoping Tool will be 5 or 10 minutes late so that I can catch the end of Ghost.

Well, after Shaky Graves, I am heading over to Cage the Elephant and I am setting up and getting as close as I can on the left-hand side. Hopefully we can camp out and then when the crowds split for Ghost/Rebelution we can get closer. I don't expect front row, but pretty damn close is the goal.
It's pretty hip that we both got Tool in on our birthdays this year. I'll confirm schedule middle of next week, and if all of us have something daytime in common, we can put something together. I figure I'll run into Longinus and Sgt. B as I usually do, and I'm sure I'll see cmack and cheesedickordie76 since they're staying at the crib. But we all have completely different schedules. There's bound to be an earlier-in-the-day Friday or Saturday show we'll mostly all be at one way or another.
I don't know if they've ever sold out LOA before, because I've never paid much attention to it outside of what people have reported on here. I might try it out next year for fun, but I've always been fine with G.A. up to this point. I wonder if they would sell out GA on any particular day? I don't think they would sell it out completely but maybe "by days?"
