Ghost isn't really heavy or doom metal and I don't understand why they get labeled that way. It's more like some kind of pop metal to me like the inverse of glam metal with "satanic" undertones. And they are getting young cheesedicks interested in metal. People are bringing young kids to their shows and exposing them to it to break their metal cherries lightly. Let's make metal great again. Inspire the next generation to refuse to suck on that EDM thumb.
.
The few songs I watched or listened to on YouTube sounded slow and doomy. That's where I got it. It's not anything special to me, but I'll still like to see a song or two.

I meant everyone considers it "heavy doom metal." Those are even the descriptive genres on their wiki page. And what I am saying is that it breaks those boundary conditions because it is way more accessible than that. You should watch most of them because they're insanely better than Rebelution and Excision. I'd rather get waterboarded than listen to either of those.
Lmfao. I saw Excision and Protohype back Lundi Gras 2015. He was pretty good. I wasn't too wild about a set I watched last month. I completely don't hate Rebelution or any of the California-Surf-Stoner-Reggae stuff, although that +/- genre is hated on Inforoo. I'm a big fan of Khris Royal who is a member along with all the other bands he plays with (Dark Matter, Gravity A, Greenhouse Longe, Runnin Pardners, etc). We saw them just before the city banned indoor smoking. haha. I'll give Ghost some more listens next week and did plan to catch some of that set if at all possible. The catch is going to be how packed and impossible it is to move around Saturday night. I'm assuming that if they have 40-50k people that day, a big chunk will be at Cage the Elephant and look to post up even closer for Tool when Cage ends. If people scatter, it's Ghost or Excision then the other one. We always do front left at Voodoo main, and Ghost is to the right. I'm playing that hour (8:30-9:30) by ear.
Thinking about going to Le Bon Temps Roule on Thursday night for The Soul Rebels. How is that bar? Think it'll be a good time?
That's a good time. I love Soul Rebels. They usually do 2 sets and it goes late. That bar is owned by Pepper Keenan of Down and Corrosion of Conformity fame. I'm trying to think of the last time I saw him play which he was invited up to stage with someone at Voodoo (Soundgarden ?). Fuck I can't remember but he's a cool guy and that's a fun weekly show at a cool bar.

It'll be a good time. Another good show will be Lost Bayou Ramblers & Pine Hill Haints @ Siberia. Where are you staying? Le Bon is pretty far uptown. Siberia is off St. Claude a little ways from Frenchmen area. (prob wouldn't want to walk)
Esteban- You forgot Pepper sat in with Clutch at Voodoo last year. You, me , Longinus and Cheesedick were there.

Yeah fuck. Haha. That's the thing with Voodoo. We walk so it's like about the partyingest weekend all year which obviously is saying something. That tucking Clutch show ruled. All of us were there. Such a cool day with that awesome Janes set and then Ozzy. Haha. Phi was on stage dodging the rain and hated it. But different strokes obviously. That whole set is up on YouTube from the Yahoo live stream. We watch it about every other month or so.
I'm about to fuck up royally, but better this weekend than next. I have a double earache which I can tell is a head cold steamrolling in. I never get earaches (always nose, throat or chest), but I feel that shit. Going to GRiZ anyway. I've been drinking for motivation, but I'll be in bed tomorrow. Haha. As long as i can get my bitch ass up Sunday night for Mac Sabbath, all is good.
Also I saw Vieux probably 100 times last year at Voodoo, but never said hello, cause I'm a rude asshole like that.
Seriously? WTF? I knew you didn't like me. 😉😂 LOL
You were always sitting on the left side of the main stage where the photo pit entrance and I always saw you when I was going/leaving the pit and typically in a hurry to get there, or leaving to go shoot someone else.
