Here are a couple of updates based on a troll through the web. Brooklyn Vegan will be at Toyota Tent and it appears they are cosponsoring or covering. Jak Knight is hosting.
WDSU has a 1:40 story on preps. They say all 50 states and over 100,000 peoe will attend, but they didn't say if that was a count over all 3 days or paid attendance, hopefully the former. They also said there was an interactive free haunted area with some live action performers.
The page on Offbeat stating Charles Bradley had cancelled has been taken down. And he's still on the schedule. I still doubt he plays, but that would be cool. My grandma costume is almost complete with my cat eye glasses coming in today. I just need a glasses chain and a bra along with something to stuff into it. Haha. Still no word on the livestream or livestream schedule, but I'll keep looking.
Everyone should keep their fingers crossed on the weather, but it appears it will be mostly dry and warmer relative to average, mostly on the western side of a big high pressure. Early guess would be mostly sunny to partly cloudy and probably low 80s days 60s nights. It's too far out yet, but it looks pretty tranquil.
LOA looks completely different this year since it's in between 2 stages. Hopefully that means it will be bigger because it was always too small during headliner or they just oversold the shit out of it. Drinks aren't cheaper. Just different selections of drinks and food. The bathrooms are the biggest perk aside from the views. But you still need to post up early to get good view for headliner. Like during the act before. In the past they had free massages. They had a booth set up to paint peoples faces the last time I did it. Let us know how it is. I stopped doing it because it's not worth the extra money. If they still had the $200 VIP early bird passes sold in December, I'd be all over it though. They jacked the price up on early bird to where you're really not saving shit (like $50). AH
So I scored some LOA passes this year, anything I should know?
Are the drinks cheaper in LOA? Any other perks I should know about?
I haven't done it but I remember Blotter said he had free bumper car passes a few years ago and bumped to Fredia. They usually have a guest chef cooking but I'm not sure this year if they announced because they said unique local food options. It says daily drink specials, unlimited rides, closer access at all stages, comp massages and tarot card readings, AC bathrooms among other things. I never felt the need to do it, but I might consider next year just to do it.
You get unlimited carnival rides, which is pretty sweet. If you are taking pics it's extra useful bc you can get a ton of Ferris Wheel shots of the whole fest.
When I have VIP and the line ain't long I'll just stay on the Ferris Wheel. Sometimes they make you get off then get back on even without a line but during Soundgarden in 2011 I just posted up on there and blazed down for like 30+ mins, it was awesome.
Bumper cars over and over was a lot of fun the last years I was VIP. Must've done them like 20x. Something epic about riding bumper cars with bands playing nearby. Shit would cheese me out.
There's an express entrance lane where you don't really get searched, that comes in handy for sneaking booze in.

So last year on the first day I got to the park early and was walking around getting some random shots when I came across an empty ferris wheel. Told the guy I was media and asked if he minded throwing me up to the top for a minute so I could get some quick aerial shots of the grounds. Once I got in the car I told him how much I hate heights and ferris wheels and he just smiled at me. So he puts me up to the top like I asked, I get my shots, but when when he brings me back down, he decides to have some fun with me and starts whipping the damn ferris wheel around as fast as it will go. And being an empty wheel other than me, it was fast. I probably did fucking 20 spins on that damn thing, cussing him out every time I came to the bottom while he just laughed. I literally wanted to punch him in the face when he finally stopped the damn thing.

Cuatro Dias Madre F*ckers
Also, I'm up to about 95% sure that the temperatures in the city will range between 62 and 88 throughout the festival. Nights will be mild/slightly cool, days will be pretty warm with maybe Sunday being the hottest of all. I have no problem with being in the park on a sunny, warm day. It might rain a little Wed or Thursday, but that won't really matter at all by the weekend.
I have had MRSA twice and it is fucking miserable and super painful. I don't know how he got through that set. I fucking pray to GOD, that this does NOT fuck anything up. UGH.

above all of course i want danny to take care of himself, but it would be devastating if Tool did not play. while there are other acts i'm looking forward to seeing, without Tool i doubt we'd be going this year.

So excited I have been able to pull off going to Voodoo with a last-minute deal on Stubhub. Capping my best live music year ever, with Shaky Knees, Gov Ball, Firefly, Osheaga, Lock'n, Farm Aid and now Voodoo. It will be devastating if Tool's not there though. First world problems! Staying in Metairie, at the Sheraton. Anyone know about how much a cab or Uber to or from the fest will cost me? Is there a better way to get back and forth? Also, I made a Spotify playlist. It only has the acts I'm planning to see, but it looks like some of you are excited about many of the same acts, so here's the link: play.spotify.com/user/1274256380/playlist/2ece8YzemuzMCoZvYZtqB9

If you're at the one by Causeway and I-10, it's probably $10-15. If you're by the Airport, $25-30. It's only a couple of miles as the "crow flies" and a pretty easy bike ride, but you won't have that option if you are flying in. If you're by the Causeway one, you can take the Causeway bus (which will only be available to get there and not back) to City Park Ave/I-10. It's about a mile walk down City Park Ave. from there. But if you bring a bike, it's probably a 15 minute bike ride to Voodoo from Causeway. It wouldn't make as much sense if you're in Kenner by the Airport though.

Thanks esteban. I'm by the Causeway, it appears. Yes, flying in. Is the bus just a pay cash when boarding deal?

Yes, but you can get a jazzy pass instead. They come in 1-day; 3-day; 5-day or 30-day increments. You can download the app on your phone, buy through your phone and just have them scan that. It is the RTA gomobile app.
EDIT: They will map out your route and you can have alerts set up to inform you about times and schedules.
Yeah I don't know how Jazzy Pass interacts with Jet (Jefferson Transit) but they might. What you would do is either take that Causeway bus to Veterans and then take that to I-10/City Park Ave or take it to Metairie Road and that that to the end by City Park Ave. I think it's 1.50. Those don't run late so you have to cab back. But it could save you 45-50 for drinking.

Oh shit. I totally missed the staying in Metairie thing.

Looks like 1.50 straight or 2.00 if transferring. Still not bad. However Lyft or Uber, depending on surge pricing, may be worth it at a given time. Also, Jet Transit is completely safe.
I caught Die Antwoord last night in DC so that I didn't have to split them with Tool on Saturday night. That was a fun fucking show. I thought it would make me feel better about missing them completely this weekend but now I want to see them again. As someone said a few posts back... first world problems.
Don't worry, once Tool announces they've cancelled, we'll all be at Die Antwoord instead of J Cole
GD. I don't know. I'll take J Cole in NOLA for a full set. He is good here and different per the Jazz Fest part we caught. Die Antwoord annoys the shit out of me but I appreciate their loud and abrasive ass show more than I would a Matt and Kim or some other famous guy/girl duo. As noted earlier in the thread, they blew out power the last 2 times they played here. Haha.
I'll be at Tool the full 90 or 85. Set list is close to the other 2 shows I saw this year (smaller) but in a different order with a change or two. I'm pretty psyched for Tool. Danny will be fine provided he doesn't beat himself up the rest of the week. If not, they will bring in something big to appease the rock fans. It would be at the Metallica/Prophets of Rage level like when they had to replace Green Day. Live Nation won't fuck that up even with 5 days til showtime.
Edit to lmao that I don't have a schedule that is close to anyone's here. One of my middle kid's friends was tripping when I told him i might get 2 hours out of 30 at the EDM stage. Too much else.
