People seemed pretty happy about the prospect of Tool/LCD until a mob showed up. Those two will get me there for the most part. Also, to clarify the many errors that has been tossed here: LCD isn't EDM.
Every year there are bands at festival that people question why they are headliners. Every year. This year it is LCD. It is what it is. We have to have bands grow in popularity and make headliner status, or it would be the same 5 bands headlining the same festivals every year. I personally will be at their set at Bonnaroo, ACL and Voodoo if that is how it works out, unless there is someone else playing at the same time that I have to see, and I have already seen LCD. I agree with most that I would definitely rather LCD as opposed to Calvin Harris or any other Bleep Bloop Blop on the main stage at Voodoo, that is what the Le Plur stage is for.
EDIT: and for the record, I was the one that threw down the Tool/Radiohead/LCD make Voodoo great statement from the jump.

Tool Arcade Fire LCD Soundsystem Big Gigantic Porter Robinson and maybe someone like Martin Garrix (who I won't see), DJ Snake or Aoki?
Voodoo goes 3 or 4 closers, but the smaller stage closers will not usually be big acts (more PiL, London Souls, Lettuce, etc.). So this is based on a continued format of 3 main stage closers and 3 EDM closers at that stage.

Weaknd
I saw him at ACL last year and let me tell you, he put on one hell of a show. I get if you don't like that type of music, but I actually discovered him in like 2010 from his Wicked Games youtube video and that song is fucking pimp. There are much worse headliners than him, at least for me.

I don't dig him at all, though obviously I respect your opinion and right to listen to what you want to. Truth is I listened to or tried to watch a few songs when he got announced for Hangout. It sounded like radio R&B, and I generally don't listen to that outside of Soul (e.g. Motown and Stax) or the Funk/Deep Groove stuff DJ Soul Sister plays on her WWOZ show.

He is radio R&B (except that Wicked Games song), and I like some of that stuff, not much. But like I said I heard that song in 2010 and it's good, but he curses like a sailor in it and I like that shit. Plus, that song is sexy as hell. My girl really likes a couple of the radio hits he has, which is why we went to see him. I was genuinely impressed with his stage presence, light show and performance. It was a good time, plus he played my song.

Ive got nothing for him but he is immensely popular and Ive been told his ACL had a huge production. Id take A LOT over the Weeknd, but he gets the popular as fuck HL slot.

I could definitely see this as our top three.
Yeah, I threw Big G in there as an EDM closer because their new album is a new twist and is supposed to be in collaboration with other musicians and singers. So they'll probably be up there in 2017. Some people hate on them, but I've never been to a Big G set that didn't have everyone going hard. Porter hasn't played Voodoo at least in a while nor has Aoki, Snake or Garrix (not that I'd be thrilled with any of them - Snake is okay - but they seem logical with there being no way Jack U, Skrillex, Diplo, Major Lazer, Deadmau5, Alessso, Afrojack, Bassnectar or Prydz is going to be booked back so soon.

I feel like Big G is definitely in the mix, just because he plays every couple years and is always around the NOLA area doing shows. With the new album coming out he seems like a no-brainer. Not my groove, but I know a few people that would love that.
Also, I love that this article is saying that Tool is rumored based off our conversations. lol

Man I picked the wrong year to come down, can't make it this year no matter what. I'll hope for good things in 2017

LMFAO. The post was even deleted. I never expected them to play (like you said, they just played January 31). But obviously it's as good as it gets for me at this point if the rumor ends up being true. If not, there's a hole at the top. Voodoo is going to bring rock/alternative no matter what, and usually a headliner. I don't see how Arcade Fire doesn't play if they're playing any festivals at all (or unless they are locked up and in one of the headlining spots for next year's Jazz Fest with some nature of exclusivity in the deal). And if LCD is in, though I have no idea what kind of a following they have in New Orleans, that leaves a rock/metal/alternative likely other headliner. Blotter said Maiden. That's the one band from that genre that I never much got into. But I'd be willing to see them (obviously) at least with a split set. I don't know who else will be on tour that would be big enough to do the Saturday show. Maybe still a shot to get Ozzy back again with the Black Sabbath farewell or something like that. And as I said before, I'd take U2 in a heartbeat if they brought them in regardless of whether or not it sacrificed something harder. I guess S.O.A.D. or Linkin Park one off could be in play as well.

A new rumor on Inforoo is spreading that Tool could headline Riot Fest in Chicago and Denver and Voodoo Fest in New Orleans. Tool recently wrapped up a North American tour, and they continue to work on their next album.

Has inforoo been quote before for rumours? It's not official til Alex Young mentions it.

Alex doesn't EVER officially quote inforoo, he just implies that it is happening without sourcing. Other sites have sourced inforoo before. It's all hilarious.

I ain't got no feels hurt up in this bih.
LCD is def EDM. You kidding me? That's like saying Big G is not edm because they have live instruments. It's electro-dance music. I've seen't them shits. I've danced to their electro sounds before. Sch'mon wit it.

REALISTIC top 6? Tool | Calvin Harris | J. Cole | untz | untz |untz
Ideally with Tool playing friday, so I can sell my $100 early bird bracelet before leaving town to some kid at a late night show.
You think with J. Cole playing Jazz Fest, Voodoo is going to bring him back? I could see them rolling the dice with Chance. But they had Chance scheduled for a smaller stage last year I think for Sunday, and he would have been too big for that area had it not gotten rained out. Also, Calvin last played in 2013 before Nine Inch Nails (different stage obviously). So while they could bring him back, it might be a little too soon. untz/untz/untz is the EDM stage.
As for LCD, the little I've listened to them, they almost seem influenced by Human League style dance rock. Again, I know next to almost nothing about them, but that's the thought I've gotten to the few songs I've listened to (without the chick singers).

My vote goes to LCD as being a rock/pop act rather than an EDM act. I think 98% of the time EDM is a DJ doing DJ things. The other 2% is "bands" like the Glitch Mob or Keys N' Krates, which while they have multiple members tapping on electronic drum kits they still primarily embody that EDM sound.
Once you get into bands like STS9 or Conspirator your more into "jamtronica" territory.
Most of LCD's catalog is more reminiscent of late 70s/early 80s post-punk/new wave acts than they are any subgenre of EDM. It's still dance music to some extent, I just don't think they fall under the umbrella of EDM.

You linked it. Now sit down and eat your cupcake!
I was looking at the sidebar, that says what genre they are. "Dance-punk[1][2][3]· electronica[3]· alternative dance[4]· electronic rock[5]"
Def not a rock band imho. Then again, what does it matter, NWA got into the Rock N Roll Hall of Fame. Names don't mean shit nowadays.

Semantics meme.
Agree w that. Def not rock. I like dance punk, with electronic influences. Either way. Ill be a voodoo is LCD/Arcade Fire/Tool are the trio. Wishful thinking?
There has been some movement on the Voodoo front. They officially announced the lineup will be dropped in June. They have also revamped their design/branding. Hopefully no Blink-182.

Blink-182 would be a subheadliner anyway though right? They would be the equivalent of Modest Mouse's billing from last year.

Hopin' MMJ makes their way to Voodoo this fall. They're at Hulaween the same weekend, so it definitely makes sense logistically. I'd imagine their spot at JazzFest this year makes a Voodoo slot less likely, buttttttttt they did hit both in 2010, so a man can dream!
