Is Voodoo really a major festival anymore? I don't see them accepting to play and not headline when they already have.
Fair point but I don't see it personally. Voodoo is still big enough to warrant a more relevant headliner.
Ok. But every year we have some sort of discussion along this line and every year we get some stupid BS headliner, Zac Brown Band last year as case in point. You can think that Blink-182 won't headline, but if they are playing Voodoo, I promise you they will be headlining. That is the nature of the beast. We don't have to agree with it, but it is what it is. I am more inclined to just hope we dodge the Blink-182 bullet.

I could see for instance them bringing back Deadmau5 and Blink 182 is the "headliner" when it is really Deadmau5 that same night. Kind of like what Zac Brown Band was a suppose to be last year.

Hold on to that dream. After years of being disappointed I can't do that anymore but I am glad that someone else can.

I feel like you are selling your festival short but you'd know better than I would.
No idea what would be a letdown as the headliners have mostly been outrageous pretty much forever with an exception here or there. Last 5 - Soundgarden Metallica, Outkast, Foo Fighters, Florence, Ozzy+, Nine Inch Nails, Pearl Jam, The Cure, Bassnrctar, Pretty Lights live, Arctic Monkeys, Afrojack, Jack White, Raconteurs, Snoop, etc.
As for MMJ, I'll get that shit up in the Jazz Fest write up later, but My Morning Jacket with Pres Hall Horns cover of Purple Rain was close to Communion. Damn that was so fn good. Anyone who wasn't there, pull that shit up on YouTube in the next couple of days.
I'm just saying every year there is that one weird headliner. Or the one that got missed. And blink has headliner before and could again since they skipped Nola on this current tour.
Blink 182 was the most laughable headliner in Voodoo history. That shit was so terrible. Snoop played the main stage before them and absolutely killed it though with full band and multiple guests backing him.

But they're real musicians who play instruments. That has to count for something.

Yeah. That shit was awesome. He could barely open his eyes and went back behind the drums and came back and they were sewn shut. Haha. He jumped in his throne. Hahahhahaha that was great. I ended up getting dragged to Kyle Turley Band then I think I caught quickie mart.
Blink 182 was so laughable. Longinus and I went into the VIP pit to check them out and it was hard not to laugh. Way harder not to laugh at My Chemical Romance up close, who I totally did laugh at.
They don't even have one of the main guys now out of a trio, that is pretty weak.
Snoop absolutely killed it that year, it was so weird seeing him play to this monster crowd, and then like 75% of it immediately bailed before the headliner. By far the best Snoop show I've seen out of 5 or 6.
ACL dropped a pretty impressive lineup. I know it's about a month and 8 hours away from Voodoo, but is there usually any correlation between the two?
2015 had Florence, deadmau5, Modest Mouse, Chance the Rapper.. 'bout it as crossover. Maybe some, but not much.Wonder if some fall victim to radius clause syndrome.
That shit at Voodoo '11 or '12 was so fuckin' bad. Will never forget all the teenagers losing their shit to some shitty bass drop while everyone on stage was swinging their jizzrags around Nelly style. To top that off, some obvious dealer was in front of Longinus and I a few rows and was waving a huge stack of money around in the air. Goofiest festival sunset ever.

LCD seems like a lock, but you really think we'll get Radiohead? That would be amazing but maybe I'm just being too pessimistic. Also hoping for Arcade Fire, which would make a pretty incredible top 3.
I'd rather see Radiohead than Tool x1000 right now. Only seen Radiohead once in 2008 in ATL and it was better than any of the 4 Tool shows I've seen. I mean, you can't compare their music at all, and Danny Carey alone is a religious experience, but Radiohead just did more for me, and I had always been way more into Tool than them.
If Tool suddenly dropped a new album and played it all the way through live or something I would be really interested in seeing them again. I'm good on the hits right now though.
2nd'd on ATDI at Voodoo. They are a bucketlist band for me, if they weren't Sunday at Shaky Knees I'd daypass it for them.
Haven't seen Arcade Fire since JF 2011, so I'd def love to see them again not in the sun. Sad note: I left to see Willie Nelson at the end and missed Cyndi Lauper coming out with them for Girls Just Want To Have Fun. FAIL

Having NEVER seen Radiohead, I would take them over Tool as well, but that is not to downplay my love of MJK.
I wanted to go to Shakey Knees just for them...well and a bunch of others on the lineup, but they were key. My fingers, toes and everything else is crossed for them.
I met Willie. I have a picture with him. Highlight of my life. If only I could have smoked weed with him too.
In my desk right now, is a picture of one of my closest girlfriends and Ron Jeremy. His hands are on her tits.
Well, you have to show us now.
Considering the photo is in my desk and not posted anywhere online due to my friends request, it would be difficult to do so. Also, not as scandalous as it sounds.
Completely missed January's press release saying that Steve Rehage was out as President of Live Nation but still holds an equity interest in Voodoo. What I don't want to see happen is Voodoo becoming a mirror image of all the other Live Nation festivals. I realize some of that is inevitable because promoters will utilize available talent, but I still want alternative and NOLA.
