Anyone else catch Vampire Weekend last night? Had a blast but I have no idea why the fuck someone would request them to do their Bruce Springsteen cover instead of Diplomat's Son. I'm still upset. Great show nonetheless.
Jesus, 27 songs. Been trying to get into them and will hopefully see them at Roo next year.
With the way their live show is now it would be a blast for them to have a late night set. They've been doing 26-30 songs pretty much every show this tour and changing the setlist up completely every single night. I never saw them before this tour but apparently this is a huge level up from what their shows used to be like.

I've got Stereolab tonight, Hiss Golden Messenger on Wednesday, and I'm working Wildwood Revival on Friday. Plus I just saw Empress Of when she was at Vinyl. Not a bad little run of shows here.
For Wildwood, I'm working a King of Pops cart so come say hey!

Have you done Wildwood before? I had it on my radar way back and forgot about it. Looks like no daily's and I can't do Friday. Seems like a great little fest.

I haven't! It definitely caught my eye but I decided to pass. I was thrilled to see an open shift listed on the KoP schedule.

How was it?
It was great! The fest was super small but nicely outfitted. It was just on some big property behind someone's house outside Athens. There were maybe 3000 people there at most? Lots of families and older folks so everyone was very chill. There was a fun little artists market, lots of Creature Comforts, and some decent food options. If the lineup looks good I think anyone in the area should go.
As far as King of Pops work ... that was freaking awesome. The event organizers let me pick wherever I wanted to put my cart so I plopped it really close to the stage, over on a little hill so I would have a good view. I sold well over 300 pops in, like, 5 hours so it was a pretty great shift. Like I said, it was mostly older attendees so I absolutely crushed it in tips. Plus, dancing with all the other vendors to Rebirth while eating a Mango Chili Lime was a pretty great way to end the day.
This was all pretty last minute on KOP's part due to another worker's family emergency so I kind of lucked into it. Next year I want to plan ahead and head up there for the weekend with a thousand pops in tow and just see what happens.

What up y'all - my band Ardivan Walks is playing an opening set at the Masquerade (Purgatory) on Thursday, 10/24. Check us out (I'm on bass in the Disq shirt):
Where’s a cool area to stay sorta near the coca-cola roxy?
There isn't anything cool near The Roxy so heads up on that. The Hilton out there is affordable and walkable from the whole Battery. Be aware that you can't really walk away from The Battery because it's surrounded by giant state highways. I hoofed it to Waffle House out there once but that's as far as I'd want to go.
If you want to be conveniently located to both The Roxy and cool stuff in town then stay anywhere south of The Perimeter near 75. West Paces area is midway between The Roxy and cool stuff. Underwood Hills is where the cool stuff actually starts. Midtown is about 25 minutes from The Roxy if you want to stay in the center of everything and just bite the bullet on a Lyft ride out and back.

Had no idea Angel Olsen was playing Variety on Mon Nov. 4. Surprisingly not sold out so I'll grab some seats later today. Also looks like Anderson Paak is playing a charity concert at Variety. Might be a good opportunity to see him in a smaller venue.
Are there any House/Techno clubs near midtown I should hit up? Even bars with legit DJs would be cool.
Ravine, District, MJQ.
Sound Table is my favorite but that's on Edgewood so it depends on how you define "near Midtown." If that's close enough then check out Music Room too.
You can also follow Alley Cat Music Club on Facebook. They don't have a venue but they host pop ups around the city.

I saw Martyn at 529. Not sure where that bar is or if they regularly get DJs like him.
That's in East Atlanta Village and that's not a typical booking for them. The restaurant around the corner, Banshee, has good house music on Fridays and Saturdays if you're looking for something similar in that area.
I was noticing Aug. in Atlanta seemed to be stacked with big shows. So I made a list. Holy shit idk if I've ever seen a month like that.
Phish.x.2, Incubus, Matchbox 20, Zac Brown Band, Green Day, Motley Crue, Guns N Roses, Journey, Hall & Oates, John Legend, Nickelback, Roger Waters, Rod Stewart, Deftones, Goo Goo Goo Dolls

Anyone have suggestions for family friendly-ish bands in the ATL area? I am booking a day of music for Serenbe's May Day celebration. Would love to hear if y'all have any suggestions.

And If he has any bands he wants to hear on Sunday, May 3, send them my way haha.
