Whether it's your first Bonnaroo or you’re a music festival veteran, we welcome you to Inforoo.
Here you'll find info about artists, rumors, camping tips, and the infamous Roo Clues. Have a look around then create an account and join in the fun. See you at Bonnaroo!!
What's bad is that with the right four or so names (that are completely plausible) added this lineup could be great. Bonnaroo already has the most interesting top line, but one of the most "meh" undercards. I really didn't think they'd blow it with who is touring and with who is available and with Roo's budget. Hopefully we're missing a few names and get a some choice additions. I'm not asking for anything major, just something to give it a little umph.
Who would those four be for you?
Mine: Brian Wilson The Kills Grimes Chance the Rapper
It's a matter of potential vs. results. Beck is playing two fests the weekend before Roo, how didn't Roo get him? Grimes is playing shows right around Roo, with that weekend free, how did they miss her? Our top line features what might be the two worst popular rappers and neither of them are at any other fests, so Roo went out of their way to fucking book them. A lot of us recognize artists, we just don't like them. I'm middle of the road with this lineup, there's enough that I'll probably have something to see most of the weekend, but it's really just unexciting. Third Eye Blind is one of the most surprising names on there...
I think I will be opting for Mountain Jam this year where I will get to see Beck headline. If you're excited for Third Eye Blind, don't get your hopes up. I saw them 10 years ago and it was pretty bad, can't imagine they have gotten much better since then. Which hip hop acts are you referring to? Tyler and Macklemore? Tyler puts on a hell of a show but his last album was pretty meh. As for Macklemore... I didn't attend his set in 2013 but I heard nothing but great things.
I'll be seeing Beck at Gov Ball, so as much as I'd love him at Roo, it's not my #1 concern. But Roo shouldn't be encouraging people to want to go to other festivals. And Macklemore and J. Cole, both of whom I find to be garbage

Possible. But not counting on it.
The only reason to expect anything more is because there's some odd things with the leak 1) listing tame impala as a late night. Why the need to specify it? 2) the fact that the headliners aren't on there. If the lineup leaked, why didn't the whole thing leak?
Part of me wants to be hopeful and think this was on purpose and they have some surprises come next Tuesday. The realistic part of me knows this is it(minus the top 3).

Totally agree. I don't get it when people freak just because their favorite band they wanted isn't there. If you don't recognize artists you like then you discover new ones. It blows my mind these guys are festival people.

Good points. But the artists you mentioned I don't really mind, and I'm not a big rap fan. So at this point it may not be potential but just preference.

Some artists from other genres they missed out on: Lake Street Dive, who absolutely killed it in 2014 with a huge crowd opening a tent on a Sunday Warren Haynes or Gov't Mule Brian Wilson performing 'Pet Sounds'

Less realistic: motherfucking Pond
Yeah, those would be great, but I didn't have a four particularly in mind. I was just making a point that it's not irredeemable. It just needs a little something.
But any combo of the following including yours could have added something: Ryan Adams Huey Lewis and the News Yeasayer Charles Bradley Band of Horses Eagles of Death Metal Four Tet The Arcs
Edit: Realized that Portugal. the Man wasn't on there. And for the jammies add Bela Fleck and the Flecktones and Warren Haynes in some fashion.

Yeah, I'm just hoping that there's more to it, but there probably won't be. My point was that it could have been or could still possibly be great.

I actually find the fact those those three, or at least one or two, aren't on the lineup to be the only thing making me think there might be missing stuff or something. It's just odd to me.
Solid list on your part though. RA is the big one for me because I can't go to Forecastle and he's not playing anywhere else as of right now

Kurt Vile is the 5th biggest indie rock act.
Yeah I am bummed about no Sufjan (long shot I know) or panic at the disco or Brian Wilson or Portugal. But it will never be perfect.
Does anyone know what the name that isn't visible is between J Cole and Jason Isbell from the screen shot in the OP?
Jarryd James
They got the wrong Australians this year. Tame Impala are great, Boy & Bear are fine, Jarryd James is poop. But switch those two out with Pond and Fraser A. Gorman and I'd be ecstatic

They got the wrong everything else this year too. Why should the Australian selections have been any different?

This is exactly how I feel. Maybe we'll get more additions (outside of cafe and comedy) than we have in previous years? I don't know. Trying really hard not to be pessimistic, but this lineup really does appear to be Roo's weakest ever, especially when comparing it to 2005-2012. I know music is subjective and to some people this lineup is nothing short of godly, but...Fuck man, something isn't right. Where are all the powerhouse artists, the good jam, the quality electronic artists, good indie, or hip-hop (which I don't even like, but do respect) or artists that released critically acclaimed albums the past 2 years? Roo was always good at booking them. Is this the product of festival oversaturation? Or is it their new priority of making site improvements the sacrifice being made in place of a quality lineup? One thing's for sure, this lineup does not feel like an adequate "15 Years of Magic" anniversary.
Regardless, I'm still going. Few gems on this thing like every year, but I wanted more. I've been attending roo for 4 years now and never have truly been disappointed until now. Going to go through the lineup and hope that some of these artists I'm unfamiliar with are able to grab my attention. I guess one good thing that could come out of this is that I'll have to contend with fewer conflicts...Hopefully.
From a first glance, I see 20 acts I'm familiar with that I would like to see. Sure I'll find some more once I dig through it. I like it, though it could definitely use some more quality names. I feel like the headliners aren't the only acts missing.

Not that I'm expecting a whole lot, particularly because I'm pretty happy with the lineup, assuming the headliners of PJ / Dead / LCD.
But this lineup only comes down to 90-ish names excluding those headliners. I'd bet it's safe to say we can expect another 10-15 names that aren't included in this leak, or will be announced post-Conan.

I actually really like this line up, assuming said headliners. Big Grams, J. Cole, DCFC, M83, Miguel, Oh Wonder, Two Door Cinema Club, Vince Staples all strike my eye. I wonder if Post Malone will still be relevant in June? To me, its always a balance of thinking the line up is great and trying to convince myself the lineup is great bc its roo.
I would love to see Action Bronson added. I'm happy to see Lizzo on the lineup (Minneapolis) but I don't really fuck with her music. Also, I'm keeping hope alive that Roo has a super secret headliner that is still TBA.

I'd check out LCD, Pearl Jam, Hundred Waters, Miguel, Blood Orange, Daughter, Death Cab for Cutie, Bully, Kamasi Washington, Leon Bridges, M83, Purity Ring, Shamir, Tame Impala, Two Door Cinema Club, Waxohatachee, and Vince Staples. And thaaaat's it...
So is Macklemore getting late night Which after Pearl Jam (or while they're playing for the third straight hour)? I'm still shocked they didn't get an EDM act to close the Which late night like years past. Unless I'm massively underestimating RL Grime, etc.
This is the thing that makes me most hopeful that they've held a few bands back beyond the headliners. I'd be perfectly happy with no What/Which bro-EDM LN set for my own tastes (and my ability to hear anything in That Tent), but those things are so packed every year that I have a hard time believing Roo wouldn't schedule somebody to take that spot.
I have to be honest, if the lineup is this plus the 3 headliners, I think I might be sitting this one out.
I love Bonnaroo. I can justify it even with an average lineup (like last year) due to the people I get to hang out with. I don't know if I can justify $400+ in just a ticket for this though.
I know there are some undiscovered gems waiting for me in the undercard, but if that's all I really have to look forward to...
