Whether it's your first Bonnaroo or you’re a music festival veteran, we welcome you to Inforoo.
Here you'll find info about artists, rumors, camping tips, and the infamous Roo Clues. Have a look around then create an account and join in the fun. See you at Bonnaroo!!
Honestly, the hip hop undercard isn't all that bad this year. There obviously no comparison between J Cole and any of the former top hip hop acts, but I think people will feel differently about Post Malone, Goldlink, and Lizzo by June.
If you swapped Chance the Rapper with one of the top 2 acts, it'd be on par other years.
Very underwhelming. No "big gets" or surprises. Just an average festival lineup IMO. There will be a lot cheaper and better lineups at other festivals this year. They completely phoned it in
I get it, y'all like to pick on me because I actually enjoy the little community Bonnaroo creates just as much as the lineup. I have seen a bunch of these artists before. But I'm excited to see them at Roo specifically. I'd personally pick a roo show over a regular show anytime, just because in my Nashville experience, people get more excited for the artist at this festival than at a show. But that may be Nashville being too pretentious.
Dude, it's not about picking on you. My post has more to do with your comment: "It blows my mind that these are festival people". From my perspective, you're suggesting that people who enjoy going to festivals should just suck it up and fork over $400 regardless of how much they like the lineup "because it's Bonnaroo!" I'm sorry you're having difficulty understanding that some people simply don't want to drop $400 on a festival for acts they're not interested in.
Not to mention travel costs and taking three or four days of vacation time. The vibes defense for this lineup and festival is just lulzy.
I know billing ultimately doesn't really matter, but ... how the hell is this thing going to be billed? I'm struggling to find who would be from 7-20, assuming Ellie/J Cole/Tame is the 4-6.
Pearl Jam * Dead and Company * LCD Soundsystem * J. Cole Ellie Goulding * Tame Impala * Macklemore & Ryan Lewis * Death Cab For Cutie
...
M83 * Ween * CHVRCHES * Miguel * Big Grams * Flosstradamus? Is this really our second/third line?
Foals, Cage the Elephant, Modest Mouse, Major Lazer, Bloc Party, Miike Snow can all still be added. Not sure which bands catered towards older crowds are on tour this year though.
I still think it's possible solid acts other than the headliners get added on Conan. The only reason I don't think this leak was accidental is because all the headliners were left off.

At this point in time, I am seriously considering Sasquatch. For the trek, the traveling costs involved and a WAYYYYY BETTER lineup... I may have to bail Roo this year.
It also blows my mind the LCD Soundsystem can go from a late night act straight to headliner status at every single festival without releasing any new material and fake retiring. The long con worked

Yea, I need to take off a day or two before the festival and at least one day after the festival if I am going to do it (and that's if I'm flying). Then the cost of airfare and spend money is usually more than the festival ticket itself. It's a significant investment for anyone not within a few hours drive.

There's no way more than one or two of those names would be left off the initial lineup/added later on. We'll be lucky if we get even one of those added and it's almost surely not going to be CTE, Major Lazer, or Modest Mouse.
Hahahah ok ok I agree with you. But I gotta challenge you as well. How is this that bad for a festival then? Throwback headliners, main demographic appeal undercard, and then a few sprinkled surprises (vulf) in there. So the artists are just not your tea, or the spread of type of artists?
I don't actually think this is a "main demographic appeal" undercard. The 4-15ish stretch is really lacking and doesn't have many of the proven old-timers you except from Bonnaroo. I'd always bag on them for booking too many old men headliners, but booking stuff like ZZ Top, Alice Cooper, Lionel Richie, Beach Boys, Billy Idol, EWF, and Tears for Fears in the undercard was what set Bonnaroo apart from other festivals and made them unique. This year it's, what, Mavis Staples and Steve Martin? Third Eye Blind? Meh.
The bottom 15 or so names might be a big improvement this year, but there's no meat on the bones in the middle.
steep canyon rangers are a seperate band from Steve Martin, they just back him up when he wants to play, and it's billed as "Steve Martin With Steep Canyon rangers." Or at least it was for a handful of shows last year. I doubt Steve Martin is there without being billed as such.

Why? It's not like this is actually the secondary wave of artist additions. The full lineup still hasn't even been officially released yet.

Major Lazer and Modest Mouse are absolutely too big to be left off the initial lineup. The biggest addition last year was D'Angelo. The rest of the bands you mentioned MIGHT be one of the additions, but you're being too optimistic if you think they're adding Major Lazer or Modest Mouse later on.
in 2014, the scheduled was leaked the same way, via the bonnaroo app. I have no doubt this list is real. No need to make up scenarios. It's not the full line up, but these names are real.
Which is why I said it seems like they would have learned from that. Just throwing some ideas out there. I'm sure this is the lineup, but for those that hate it its not official until its official. Just hoping for more than the 3 acts we know and maybe 3 more that won't sway anyone one way or the other.
Sorry. I'm from Arkansas. We can't really read. (actually, i only read the first half of the message so I really am sorry for coming off as a jerk)
I wonder if the interns that did this got let go? lol

There are 93 acts on this list. Add the three headliners, and we're at 96. Bonnaroo had 98 artists total last year.

All I want is baby Grimes and if she isn't here this year it could be a long time before she comes since she just released her new album in November. Fingers crossed for a late addition!

No I totally get that! If you read the original post I was replying to, we were talking about people who were discrediting the lineup because they didn't know the artists, not that they didn't like them. But with festival shows vs venue shows, thats just an opinion.
Would Alvvays be a Cafe act? If so, there may still be hope for them to be added. I personally have a bunch that I want to see and haven't seen yet. Or that I was thinking of buying tickets to go see, but that my budget isn't quite agreeing with. There are just a few that I have been wanting to see, and that I thought were going to be on the lineup due to "confirmations" that aren't on it. I hope that they get added, but being happy about 2 of the headliners and between 25-30 makes it worthwhile for me.

AH ok I see now, you liked that they grabbed those unique artists in the top-mid level there. Totally understand.

I think Alvvays is a good deal bigger than a lot of acts already listed. I posted in the up and coming acts thread last year that I'd like to see Roman Gianarthur as a cafe addition. I didn't expect him to be on the initial lineup leak.
