For someone who hasn't been to many, if any, festivals - this is solid. Headliners are great, there are some sets in here that are going to be stellar (M83, Tame Impala, Kamasi, Father John).
For anyone who's been going to festivals the past few years, I'd say this is uninspired at best. Bonnaroo has higher expectations for me than other festivals would, ex: Governor's Ball, Shaky, Hangout. This is the 15th Anniversary and this is what they pull together?
- Easily the weakest year for metal/heavier acts. Clutch and Lamb of God is pretty disappointing - EDM is full of generic crap acts: Adventure Club, Floss, Keys n Krates, RL Grime, Griz - two of these would be okay, but not five, especially when there's nothing to balance them out - Chvrches is one of the worst festival acts I've seen, waste of a spot especially since there's a lack of Grimes
2017: 2/24 Twenty One Pilots 4/1 Radiohead 6/7 Glass Animals 9/10 Modest Mouse 9/21 Arcade Fire 9/29 Kings of Leon 10/3 Foster the People 10/17 The xx 10/22 LCD Soundsystem 11/8 Bon Iver
- EDM is full of generic crap acts: Adventure Club, Floss, Keys n Krates, RL Grime, Griz - two of these would be okay, but not five, especially when there's nothing to balance them out
Bonnaroo EDM (from what I can judge from others) is usually generic EDM. Glad I don't care too much about it.

I don't know much about a lot of the bands on the lineup, but they did well with the Americana again. I'm going to assume Isbell and Stapleton get Which, so Steep Canyon, Anderson East, Judah & the Lion, Sam Bush, Wood Brothers, and Sara Watkins are probably the Sitch lineup. I can handle that being my Sunday.
The only facet of the lineup I like is the funk/jazz/soul. Vulfpeck, Lettuce, Kamasi, Mavis, Allen Stone, Leon Bridges. Already seen most of these, though.
Hip-hop is godawful for my tastes Lamb of god is barely a nod to hard rock/metal. Don't even mention Clutch... Nothing classic like EWF or tears for fears Nothing special like atomic bomb There's a smattering of good bands elsewhere, but overall it's Beige As Fuck.
Dead & Co - LCD - Pearl Jam is literally one of the best headliner collections that I've had since going. All 3 are acts I want to see and I can't remember the last time that happened.
Edit: if those aren't the top 3 then lame. But if 3 of those are on the lineup I'll be excited.
Exactly. Bonnaroo isn't going to make the Conan announcement for nothing. I'm expecting those headliners along with 5-10 more bands. Now the legitimacy of those other bands will be in question.
I'm not expecting more "surprise" bands during the regular announcement. I think they just held off on adding the top 3 to the lineup on the app.
I AM expecting a few unique experiences/sets that not many people ever know about/look into. There will be some great comedy tent/cinema tent exclusives that you can't find anywhere else but I'm one of the few people who care about that. Then there will be a Superjam (or more than 1) that wow people. And we'll likely get a few surprise acts/additions but I'm not expecting the Conan announcement to change anyone's minds overall.
Having done both I'd have to disagree. The two festivals are different. I've had a ton of fun at both. Roo is unique. It requires a level of personal emotional investment that far exceeds coachella and you get really amazing returns on that emotional commitment. Coachella is a bit easier on the body and soul and as such I think the payout is less but the festival is fun and the music is really great. Less community for certain but not unworthy of the journey.

I agree with everything except the last point. CHVRCHES is phenomenal live.
Meh, saw them at Fun Fun Fun and I think their vocalist is one of the worst performers I've seen. To each their own.

Is there any chance they put any of this in the same tent? Keep a theme going? I only know Lettuce, Kamasi, Mavis, and Leon. Is Allen Stone the white dude who Ashley Capps was frothing over in a recent year?
Definitely weaker than a lot of previous years. I've wanted to see Tyler for a while but nothing else really calls my attention.
Lamb of god is barely a nod to hard rock/metal. Don't even mention Clutch...
Some other posts are pointing out the lacking hard rock/metal. I guess you can only hope they didn't put EVERYTHING on the app but maybe this year is an off year.
Nothing classic like EWF or tears for fears
Agreed as of now. Those two were big "WTF?" and semi-unexpected by me for last year. There's no real acts that fill that slot.
Nothing special like atomic bomb
So far, yes. Hopefully they fix that but I wouldn't be surprised if they didn't.
There's a smattering of good bands elsewhere, but overall it's Beige As Fuck.
Good bands yea. I don't have a lot of money the past year so if I can catch 10 or so of these acts all in one place that would be amazing.

In a year of big lineups it looks like the initial Roo lineup is lacking. Definitely lame considering they should be one of the premier festivals leading the charge. But as we know they tend to follow the pack more than lead the way.

They were Soooooo boring when I saw them. I was not impressed.

In terms of EDM, I agree there's always some generic, but usually some more interesting stuff to balance it out.
Jamie XX, SBTRKT, Four Tet, Darkside, Empire of the Sun, AnCo, James Blake, Flying Lotus, Tycho - acts with a bit of substance.
Cashmere Cat is all they've got going for this year - Bonobo would have helped a lot here.
No, he hasn't. Just more of the dipshit #vibes crew.
Vibez > Lineup though. You know this. I can watch shitty bands and enjoy my neighbors more than watching epic bands and dealing with douches taking selfies.
