I can't think of a good reason why Bonnaroo would think announcing it on Conan is a good idea and I'm a fan of Conan.
Maybe TBS will be sponsoring the comedy tent this year (did they do it last year?) like IFC has done in the past and this is part of the deal.

It's extremely exclusive, especially given that a large number of millenials don't have cable subscriptions. I really, really don't understand the choice here.
Within minutes of it being on the show it will be all over the internet and especially here. Maybe earlier if it they actually do it in front of the audience as part of the show (and not a pre-taped thing) and someone leaks it out.

Good point. I don't know, it was just fun watching in 2013 and 2014 live, and getting to spazz out with everyone when the names were getting announced.

Here's the thing: there's no guarantee that a festival-goer (who wants to take the time to share this info) is in the audience. Could be just a bunch of tourists or people just going to a random live taping. Even if they do it in front of the audience it may not leak. I doubt they take people's cell phones.

I would expect it to be a pre-taped thing. And I'm sure it'll be one of the very last things that they do on the show so you have to sit through everything else in order to see the lineup.
Saying "Lineup drops at 11 on Conan!" sounds much better than "Watch a 2 minute pre-taped segment featuring Conan at 11:58 on TBS!"
And everyone who doesn't normally watch Conan will have to watch the whole episode and his ratings will get a solid little boost.

I just thought he was a doing a bit. I thought he said something like "If you really enjoy me reading off a list of band names, tune in on Tuesday". Maybe he really is only doing that but I thought he was just making a joke.

He says he'll be reading it "Live on our show" not that the show will actually be airing live. So that just means at his actual timeslot. I really doubt they are going to tape his show at 11 p.m. at night (or whatever time it is where they tape). That's just silly.
It's very likely that he reads a list of band names but it's done in a pre-taped/backstage segment type of thing. I think it's possible he sits at his desk and just reads out a list one by one but I feel like they'll be slightly more creative than that. Probably try to mix in some comedy.
Either way....the show will not be airing live like it's SNL.

Don't let the man get you down. Last year they were all like this too, it was my first year and I was a little worried it wouldn't be what I had built up in my mind. There was no need to worry, we had an amazing time, saw some music we really loved, and I was very glad we went. I'm pretty sure this year will be the same
I did think he meant a live show. Did Conan go back to New York? Would be 8 in LA. Sorry if i haven't watched in a while. No cable. I enjoy Conan.
I think he still tapes in California. I definitely don't think they will do this live.
Just think about it from the staff of Conan's point of view. They film a show every day with the same routine (similar to most late night talk shows). They meet and go over the news/topics of the day early in the morning and write up the monologue and other stuff for the show. They meet with and go over the segments with the celebs and have to rehearse and plan out the whole show. Then they film it in the afternoon/evening and have enough time to edit it and get it ready for broadcast.
So they would have to do that regular routine on Monday, completely change it up on Tuesday and be there at the studio way later than they are usually stuck there, and then get up really early to get back to the routine Wednesday.
No....seems way more likely they have a segment on the show where they pre-tape it and reveal the names. Like I said.....It's possible he does the reveal in front of the audience/at the desk/live (to them) but I think the average audience member of that show would be very bored and not give a shit. Seems easier to film a bit and then just stick it in the show.
