Although I'm still the person that isn't convinced LCD is going to be there. Sure it makes sense, but nobody has given actual proof yet. The closest is CoS and we all know their "sources" are usually inforoo.

well that was unexpected.
For anyone who actually looks at my list and sees I chose J. Cole over Kendrick, let me be clear that Kendrick Lamar is a better artist than J. Cole. But I've seen Kendrick twice now and both times have just been OK. I'd at least be interested in giving nice guy J. Cole a shot, especially since I hear he knows how to perform live.

Did I miss Pretty Lights getting added or is that just a guess.
Pretty Lights is a guess. I refuse to accept/believe that Flosstradumbass and Zedd's Dead are the highest billed EDM act....until it's confirmed on Tues.
I'm happy for everyone who is truly (and inexplicably) excited for this lineup, and I'm sure you'll all have fun. It's kind of hard not to have fun at almost any music festival, really. But I can't get over how bad this lineup is. It's genuinely disappointing. It's what I expect from like Firefly, or the Hangout or whatever. So I hope people have a blast, but I also hope that Bonnaroo gets its shit together at some point and pulls out of this nosedive into laziness.
As wacky as Firefly's lineup was last year, I had a lot of fun, but didn't discover too many new artists that impressed me, except Broods and Night Terrors of 1927. Bastille wasn't that bad either, but still the Top 40 overload was sickening. And that's what the 2016 installment of Roo is making me feel, but I've been talking with friends and planning for a while now, and I don't know anyone in NYC for GB, or this would be an easy skip. So after experiencing an unreal 2014 Roo, my second Roo in 2016 will be slim pickings, but I'll have my Amish Donuts and vibes. So there's that haha.

CoS says that PL will be there or LCD?
LCD. They say a source has confirmed the headliners, but they say that every year.
I think they can bounce back, but two duds in a row is concerning. Lolla 2014 set the high water mark for horrific lineups (and we are talking a Bob Beamon like record here) but bounced back in 2015. It can be done.

Has it already been pointed out that Macklemore is misspelled on the leaked lineup? I'm sure it doesn't mean anything other than a silly mistake, but still embarrassing.

That Broods show at FF was really great - i suggest you check out Oh Wonder if you haven't already, as they remind me a lot of Broods
Considering you've found the need to respond to my threads as if you are threatened by me I offer you some peace my confused counterpart. May you find peace in your restless soul.

"Lionel Ritchie" made it all the way to the initial poster in 2014.
As someone who's going for his first time you guys are depressing the fuck out of me
Didn't know this is gonna be your first year at Roo, but it's always fun there don't worry. I preordered my ticket this year and even though I'm a little depressed about the lineup I'm still so excited about being back on the farm. The more I look at the lineup I realize I think this will be a year I have a more laid back Roo, so much chill electronic indie acts this year. Also that's what makes me wonder if there is gonna be more artists dropped because of the lack of bigger indie rock or just rock names. Too me there's way under than what I thought. Anyways really enjoying some of these artists I haven't heard. You'll have fun man.
The correct name is Ibeyi - they're twin sisters from France/Cuba who sing in English and Yoruba and make jazzy electronic music. Definitely one of the more interesting acts on the lineup:
I hope Kaskade is our cheese EDM cuz his cheese is my favorite cheese when it comes to EDM cheese. Also, cheese
If we're gonna go full cheese, can we give something other than bass or progressive house a shot? Disregarding the obvious budget issues, book someone like Armin van Buuren (especially a Gaia/psytrance set).
Or, ya know, fucking Porter Robinson. I think roo is the last festival to not have him play. Did he not like it last time he was here? Tell him we have permanent bathrooms now.
Armin doesn't do trance sets or Gaia sets at festivals besides I think EDC and Ultra so we'd likely get a trouse set from him. And Porter's live set is the greatest thing on earth I wish we got that.

After listening to every band on the leaked list I've found a few more promising bands (Cymande, Con Brio, and Daughter in particular), but I still think it would make more sense to wait for the schedule in case they do something unforgivable like give LCD less than a 2 hour set or put all the interesting acts at the same time. On a related note, is anyone else surprised by the sheer number of generic, wannabe top 40 indie pop acts on the lineup? I thought I was going insane at a certain point after finding yet another band with 2 million YouTube views with the exact same sound as the last one.

I'm still genuinely confused by this lineup. I'm not even big on hip-hop or cheesy edm, but am vicariously able to the feel the pain of those fans knowing that Roo booked the bottom of the barrel with those two genres.
I think comparing one lineup to another based on billing position probably isn't the smartest way to do this because it is match up dependant. Rank all of those artists from 1-10 on how excited you would be to see them.
When comparing the two side by side it was 9-9 with 2 ties. When doing it on the 1-10 scale, Roo '15 had 88 points Roo '16 had 71. But Roo 16 has the better headliners and I know I will be able to see them. I keep waiting for another festival to take the Roo decision away from me but Gov Ball and others aren't strong enough to tear me away from my Roo loyalty.
Edit: 71 points means my average excitement for a Roo top 20 act is 3.5 which is horrible considing 2 acts got a 9 or 10. I know in past Roo's, an act I'd give a 3.5 excitement level to wouldn't get me off my cot, gather my things, and walk to Centeroo in the heat.
I got 87-80 and without m83 and Tame Impala the second number would be significantly lower.
Totally agree. I'd love to watch it, but I don't have cable, and none of my friends do, so I guess I'm just not? Unless there's a livestream of his show, which I seriously doubt there is.
It's extremely exclusive, especially given that a large number of millenials don't have cable subscriptions. I really, really don't understand the choice here.
Do alot of people have this issue? Maybe I can periscope the show so everybody could watch live..
I would love that. I legitimately don't have any clue where to watch the show. It's not like there's a bar in Orlando that shows the Conan show on a Tuesday night around here...
In a year of stupid decisions, this is the dumbest by far in my opinion.
It must have been mentioned already, that "the Super Jam"'s description is actually the "About Us" section of a band called SuperJam. So I wouldn't doubt that Bonnaroo booked this cheap cover band called "SuperJam" in an attempt to be funny.
Ahh that explains it. It was just auto-filled from some database.
Now that I know that, I'm actually kinda disappointed. That was the only surprising thing on the lineup. Surprising in a bad way, but at least it was generating morbid curiosity.
here it is verbatim on some St. Louis bar calendar:

If you want to go through the trouble, you could sign up for a promotional Sling TV trial and stream it that way, then cancel.
I have held back on this thread to do a little listening of the leaked bands. So far I am in the about 15-17 bands I would like to see range. That being said I have been going to Roo since 2013, so I am newish to Roo but its meh. I am in my late 30's so I pride myself on being in tune with music today to a certain extent. My gripe is I havent heard of over 40-55%% of the bands on the leak. Normally I know a good 60% of the names. Its just so weird to look at the leak and be like who the fuck are these people. I am hoping we get the 3 headliners plus about 6-8 more that will make this 15th Anniversary Roo be worthwhile. I mean their is no good quality EDM on this lineup to at least play LN Which. We have gone from Skrillex, to Kaskade, Bassnectar, to Flosstradamus????? We have no Legend act outside of The Dead & Co (LCD is a reunion so its not Legacy in my eyes). We have PJ which is the anchor for me but no good rock/alternative artist. I mean I know I will catch hell for this but Firefly has around 25-27 bands I want to see on it. Roo you can do SO MUCH better!!
