Here you'll find info about artists, rumors, camping tips, and the infamous Roo Clues. Have a look around then create an account and join in the fun. See you at Bonnaroo!!
Also, I find it really hard to support any festival that booked all of the following: Macklemore, Halsey, Sam Hunt, X Ambassadors, Goldlink, The Chainsmokers, Post Malone and Bryson Tiller.
Never heard of Bryson, but this dude is just a D-grade Weeknd.

This isn't just a "I guess we're all getting older" thing. This lineup is a completely different approach to booking than they've done in the past. It's a "moneyball" lineup where they're digging in to data like stream counts and social media mentions to find artists that will appeal to a very specific demographic, and don't have to spend a lot of money to book them. This lineup is way more mainstream than they've ever had before, but it's all second-tier mainstream.
Very true. I'm just grasping at straws and talking out of my ass, mostly.
My fiance and I were talking about how half the acts seem like "bargain bin" versions of good acts within the same (sub)genre. Upgrade a handful of those to the real acts and we'd actually have a decent lineup top to bottom.
I don't understand how Bonnaroo doesn't understand that streams and social media "likes" are bought and paid for. It's a big problem in electronic music. You pay out a couple grand for social media mills in third world countries and botnets to like/follow/retweet your account. I'd think that would be common knowledge in established talent requisition circles.
Good news for me though...no Tame Impala and Tyler the Creator conflict yayyyy!!!! I'm guessing Tyler will close out a tent, so there'll probably be some conflict with M83 and possibly LCD Soundsystem. Unless some of you guys are right and he gets an afternoon Which slot. But any of that is better than a Tame Impala/Tyler conflict. Now Bonnaroo all I ask is you give us a decent schedule....and don't make a million changes like last year
VERY bothered by the lack of M83 late night b/c it pretty much confirms that LCD and M83 will overlap (I'm assuming M83 will close which). Also, idk why tf Tyler isn't late night too.

Don't think GoldLink fits in this list.
I second that. I haven't listened to a lot of his music, but from what I've heard and seen from his shows I don't see how he fits in that list at all.

GoldLink on record is good, but live he leaves much to be desired. He danced around as his DJ played old-school hip-hop and dad rock anthems for 10 minutes, but this was before he released his album. Maybe he's better now?

Is there not a possibility that LCD will start right when M83 ends? Or would you consider that overlap
Hoping this means Claypool can be involved in the superjam.
edit: Claypool-Lennon Delirium has a show on Sunday, June 12th in St. Louis. So I dunno if Les Claypool is gonna wanna be up all night the night before.
then again, he did tell the crowd he was tripping really hard on mushrooms at Primus LN in 2004, so maybe he gets a little loosey goosey.
Yea but that was 12 years ago.. Not saying he still hasn't got it, but I don't know how strong he's still going..

It's amazing how many rappers (including GoldLink) I've seen throw Smells Like Teen Spirit into their shows. Not saying that's dad rock, but just an observation

So I'm the only one who thinks the crowd will be a little older this year? The top line reads Pearl Jam • Dead & Co • LCD Soundsystem Do college kids even care about these acts? I don't see them just going for Ellie goulding, Macklemore, J Cole, Post Malone and Halsey. Plus the Chainsmokers are the highest billed EDM. To each their own, I guess.

Yeah I've seen at least 2 other acts (Flatbush and ASAP) play it mid set. The hip hop Bros like Nirvana I guess.

It's amazing how many DJs I see drop that in a set. Completely ruins the flow of the set.

They'll go for the vibez and druqks, stay for the Macklemore and Ellie.

I think that they just think that a crowd of predominantly white doofuses will enjoy it. I've probably heard 15 hip hop acts play it. It's tired, but I'm sure everyone will figure that out soon. I hope.
I saw Antwon the other night and he played a Mariah Carey verse "for the ladies" and then played Backstreet Boys "for the fellas". To his credit he also played Mark Morrison, which was a ton of fun in the middle of the set.

Not until we figure out which side of the crowd is the livest!

At least 2 of my 3 kids are going (ages 23-24), and I'd put $10k that of that entire list, only J. Cole holds interest for them. It's kind of the Hangout Fest gamble that Goldenvoice has embarked on by brining the weak sauce that sells. Now I realize my kids were raised with music and don't follow typical pop crap. But I will tell you that my oldest 2 are jacked about seeing Pearl Jam again, and both of them are beyond excited about Dead and Company. Again, they aren't remotely representative of all kids their age, but between them and their festival posse', they've all seen so many live acts that they're not going to settle for bullshit (or what stands for it in their minds) at this point. I've also appreciated the way they've been weeding out generic EDM over time. 4 or 5 years ago, it was the shit. Now, maybe if it's Pretty Lights or Bassnectar or Griz, they'll go. But it has to be something at that level to hold their interest when they could otherwise be seeing a band.
And hey, for those of us that are super old, Dead and Company and Pearl Jam are actually appreciated and would be two of the biggest reasons I end up going if I do.
Hoping this means Claypool can be involved in the superjam.

Oh I'm being unapologetically optimistic. The superjam is gonna be something shizty.

I think that's the major problem with the lineup. They've got a top line that appeals to the older crowd, and an undercard that is mostly mid-tier pop/r&b/edm acts for a young crowd. And these two additions show that is who they're trying to appeal to
I can't see bonnaroo staying as one of the big destination festivals if they continue like this. It used to be a thing that college kids could travel to because it was so damn cheap. Now you're looking at around $450 and at that price, combined with all the big regional fests, they're just not going to be able to pull the young crowd that they seem so desperate For
The people that can pay that much and travel across the country (instead of traveling a few hours to Lolla, Governors Ball, Hangout, Firefly, etc etc) at this point are the mid-20s people and up, and this lineup doesn't have enough to appeal to that crowd besides the top line

There has been a long history of Which closers not overlapping with the headliner. There is still a chance.

i guess I'm going to see tame impala after all unless these paltry (in number at least) additions really grow on me fast. Only 5 late night acts on Saturday seems crazy even with Pearl Jam playing a full show with multiple encores. if the superjam isn't something great I really don't know what I'm going to go do that night. That's very disappointing and I've been decidedly on the positive end of the Inforoo spectrum re: this year in general.
With the lack of late night on Saturday, anyone think Pearl Jam will start really late and they'll have both Ellie Goulding and Macklemore on the What Stage beforehand? So then no Which LN, Superjam gets its own tent, and then the other tents get two acts.

I guess that's what I mean by overlap though. M83 finishing and LCD starting immediately after - that's enough of a conflict for me to forgo M83. I'd rather get pit for LCD than see M83 and be God knows how far away for LCD.
