Pretty sure the only late night What show will be whatever night J Cole and LCD play.
Prob so. It just seemed odd that Tame Impala had the "late night" with their name.
True. I wasn't really thinking about that. I just assumed that meant a traditional Which late night but making special mention of it is interesting. And a first time sort of deal, I believe. My thinking was they'd get Bassnector's Saturday spot.
The LCD/J Cole thing seems pretty much a given at this point. We've had good reason to believe LCD was dual-headlining for awhile.
So I went through and did a mock using last years schedule as a template. If they continue to go down the path they did in 2015 with less acts per day/shorter sets the schedule should look very similar. We are still short at least 6 acts when using the 2015 template, I have marked those spots with TBA. Also, the crazy part of this lineup is that A LOT of acts on the lineup only have 1 EP/LP right now so it's questionable if these acts will be able to fill 60-75 min time slots.

I've never studied lineups enough to know how to figure this, but how do you guys rank popularity for early-afternoon Which or What vs. evening Tent or Which? I know it's happened before, Les Claypool and Robert Plant being examples. I'm just trying to decide if Jason Isbell, who played early Which last time he was here and has released a #1 album and been all over mainstream media since then, is getting a boost from being put later but in a tent. Not questioning the placement. Completely serious curiosity question.

It just doesn't look like a finished product to me, which is what gives me the hardest time accepting that the leak is all we're gonna get. Even additions only accounted for three additional artists last year. Also, what a godawful Thursday but I guess that's kinda what we were expecting.

Thursday is going to be solid this year, too bad you can't move from tent to tent though because of the crush of people. It's the other days that are conspicuously thin.
The Late night options are kind of bland but there's not much to work with. I'm secretly hoping LCD gets the easier spot on What and Tame gets the late night What spot.
That looks pretty good. One minor quip - Ibeyi, Cymande, and Chicano Batman could all be reasonably considered 'world music' acts and I doubt the three of them would all conflict with each other on Thursday.
So I went through and did a mock using last years schedule as a template. If they continue to go down the path they did in 2015 with less acts per day/shorter sets the schedule should look very similar. <snip>
Pretty reasonable schedule you have there, which unfortunately highlights the potential for conflict amongst the few desirable acts in the lineup.
Not familiar enough with most of the acts to comment on most Thursday acts, but I think Dungen will be Fri/Sat/Sun, since they are an established act, even if they are lesser known.
Friday looks nightmarish for night/LN acts, with LCD, Tame, Miguel, Lettuce, and RL Grime. I don't care about Miguel but all others are artists I was interested in seeing. I appreciate you were generous giving zero overlap between Tame Impala and LCD, but I wouldn't put it past bonnaroo to have a good 30 minutes of overlap.
Saturday also has terrible (but again, totally believable) conflicts, with Dead & Co, Ween, Adventure Club, M83, Zed's Dead, and the Superjam all conflicting at various points. Don't care that much about Adventure Club but I know they are a popular act. Also Griz, Leon Bridges, FJM, Haim, CHVRCHES, lots of those infuriating 15-30 minute overlaps bonnaroo loves to do.
So again, even for those of us able to cobble together a list of 10-15 acts we are interested in seeing, very quickly that can be cut down to 6-7 acts we are capable of seeing due to conflicts.
Even worse is that every year Bonnaroo manages to create conflicts no one in their right mind was able to predict in any of the mocks. I always think I've prepared myself for the worst, then the real schedule comes out and my mind is blown.
Anyway thanks for putting the time in to put together this mock. It's difficult to look at but its helpful.

I'm guessing FIDLAR will close a tent, similar to Ty Segall or Mac DeMarco of recent years

What exactly about Thursday is going to make it solid? Serious question.

From the large crop of one-album bands I knew little about before the weeks leading up to this leak I'm surprised at how many I actually found interesting. To me that's a fun Thursday.
The easiest way to tell how weak the festival is by looking at the tent-closing acts and comparing them to previous years. When I was putting this mock together I had a really hard time deciding who would close a tent, because if you spread out the mid-tier acts too much it created terrible conflicts between 7p-9p each day. Even worse, if you spread the mid-tier acts on different stages it really highlighted how weak the bottom 3rd of the lineup is, I really find it hard to believe that many people will leave their camp to roast in the sunlight to see many of these acts.
2015: Tears For Fears Kacey Musgraves Ben Folds Belle & Sebastian Atomic Bomb SBTRKT G Eazy Caribou Bluegrass SJ
vs.
2016: Jason Isbell Borns Purity Ring Father John Misty Leon Bridges Griz Wood Bros. Big Grams Bluegrass SJ
Also, remember there's not a ton to see in the tents leading up to these acts this year.

Dude thanks for putting in the time doing this mock. Thinking about putting in that time makes my head spin. Doing that mock makes me realize even more how shitty that leaked Lineup is! Thursday is atrocious with Misterwives as the only group I have heard of. Last year I had heard of Jungle, Tove Lo, Mac Demarco, Ryn Weaver, Bears Den so this doesn tbode well. I will of course delve in to the bands a little more. Last year we camped out at What all day Sat and had a great lineup of Trampled by Turtles>Hozier>MMJ>Mumford. By your Mock our Sat will be spent camped out at What with a decent lineup minus Third Eye Blind.

I hate that on Saturday, I'd have to wait through Macklemore and Ryan Lewis before D&C, but that will more than likely be the case. Time to start getting into their music...
That schedule just makes the lineup all the more depressing. Thursday is a wasteland.
Wasteland? Thursday is the most conflicted day for me. Most of them I may have never heard of before this but I have at least 4 or 5 after listening that are basically must see shows.
