Whether it's your first Bonnaroo or you’re a music festival veteran, we welcome you to Inforoo.
Here you'll find info about artists, rumors, camping tips, and the infamous Roo Clues. Have a look around then create an account and join in the fun. See you at Bonnaroo!!
I want Pearl Jam to close as well. I suppose informing kids that the Dead play two sets could be useful information no matter the day.
I think in terms of jambands at festivals its an important distinction. Jamband fans are so used to a stand alone show being the standard 2 sets + encore (a formula cemented by the Grateful Dead), that when you throw a jamband on a festival it's important to point out it will be the same formula for the fest. Otherwise one two hour set is assumed.
Jamband fans, for all their open-mindedness with regards to changing up setlists and on stage improvisation, are some of the most conservative live music fans I've encountered. I guess if the music is going to be so different from show to show we crave to have structure somewhere.
What do you mean when you say jamband fans are conservative fans?
Hopefully I didn't miss anyone on the lineup, and I tried to leave room for a couple of artist additions. I went to Bonnaroo 2009-2014, but I missed last year partly due to work circumstances and party due to the lineup being subpar (in my opinion). When this year's lineup was leaked, I felt the same way as last year. I think the criticism is legit. The lineup just isn't what it used to be. But at the same time, after making my first mock, I still had a hard time with conflicts. I also didn't know where the hell to put Third Eye Blind, and I had a hard time figuring out the Thursday acts from the early Fri-Sun tent acts. Either way, if everything works out this year, I'll be back. The headliners are solid, and I'll find plenty of other bands to get excited to see as I do more research.
I'll update this as we get schedule confirmations, and if you like the format, feel free to make it your own. I borrowed it from someone else a couple years back, so I'd be pretty hypocritical not to encourage others to make their own mocks with it.

What do you mean when you say jamband fans are conservative fans?
I'm a Phish fan so I'm considering this primarily thinking of the Phish fanbase, but I think it applies to other jamband fans as well. As much as we love improvisation and songs generally to sound different than they do in the studio, we also love structure, sameness, and tradition, all characteristics I consider conservative. A few examples:
-We love talking about how much better Phish was "back in the day" -We love the entire timeline of a show to the point where it's ritualistic (arrive in lot, hang out in lot, enter show, band starts 30-45 minutes after ticket time, two sets + encore) -We expect certain songs to always result in a jam and become upset when this is not the case -We expect certain combinations of songs and can sometimes become upset if this is not the case (i.e. a mike's groove should have an IAH) -We expect certain types of songs to be played in the first set, and certain types of songs to be played in the second set. When a first set type song finds its way into a second set it can "kill the second sets flow" or something like that. -We always expect the second set to be better than the first set -If certain songs are not played at certain types of events, we can freak out (specifically I remember at Superball they didn't play Slave, people freaked out that Slave wasn't played at a Phish fest). -At Phish fests we expect a secret set and can become upset when a secret set is not played -Generally we choose one band and stick with that band with a fierce loyalty -Once we've chosen the band that is "our" band we tend to completely shut out other jambands, and can at times become openly hostile to other jambands and their fans (dead vs phish, phish vs panic, umphreys vs everybody) -We always hate new music from our favorite band until that new music becomes old music. I'd say it takes about 5 years before new Phish songs are fully embraced by the fan base, with a few exceptions (fuego was a hit right away) -We expect tours to follow a certain pattern and when they don't we can become upset

Your mock made me realize how many staples we have on this lineup. Also pretty decent mock except that M83 LCD timing is terrible. I'm afraid of something like this happening.

I would be cool with this. I think the headliners will have later start times...I would also imagine M83 would get LN Which over Adventure Club. Then again, I have no idea how popular Adventure Club is.

tbh me either...I just think M83 would be more exciting and intimate in a tent. But now that I think about it, Tame Impala might be our only LN Which Stage act this year.

LCD (front row) > Tame Impala (as far as I can get) or Les Claypool Lennon Delirium (I really wish this closed a tent instead of late night) Catch a little of Pearl Jam and get up close for the Superjam. Catch M83 somewhere else this year. Dead & Co.

Made my own Clashfinder mock, tried to make it appropriate relative to billing. What I noticed is that if the schedule stays similar to 2015, there's not a lot of room for additions if there are any at all.
Also, speculating that The Chainsmokers will be on Which against LCD Soundsystem is sort of ridiculous, so I guess they could also go in the This Tent at the same time. I have a feeling though that it'd be packed.

You have to make it public on clashfinders before we can see it
lmao of course I forgot that important part! Thanks, it's up now.
Nice! The only thing that would make the mock better for me would be switching FJM and Leon Bridges, then it would pretty much be the optimal schedule for me!
THUR: Natalie Prass or The Internet > Bully > Oh Wonder > Blood Orange > Daughter > BØRNS/The Floozies FRI: Beach Fossils > LANY > Saint Motel > Vince Staples > Lord Huron > CHVRCHES > Big Grams > J.Cole (LCD Pit Line) > LCD > Tame Impala SAT: Waxahatchee > Vulfpeck > Two Door Cinema Club > FJM (my edit haha) > Purity Ring > HAIM > Pearl Jam > M83 SUN: Hundred Waters > Twin Peaks > MisterWives > DCFC > Halsey > Dead & Co.
A potential 31 acts, I'd take it even without changing FJM

The least likely thing that I saw is Haim being unopposed on the Which (while it's dark out.) I'm personally thinking Haim will be the pre-pre-HL on Sunday or before J. Cole on Friday

Reasonable clash finder. Thursday looks to be too not thin for the masses. Halsey, X-ambassadors will probably headline with some untz somewhere. If tove lo can be billed on Thursday all the first album acts can be on Thursday.
Still think Pearl jam closes the fest. But not a bad shot in the dark.
May Tycho May Phoenix June Rooo July MMJ and Margo Price August Queen with Adam Lambert August Roger Waters (Bucket list #1) August Spoon and Portugal the man Sept Depeche Mode Sept Pilgrimage Fest

EDIT: Also, I decided to make DCFC the sub on Sunday because I simply cannot imagine Macklemore subbing for Dead & Co. in any capacity.
Looks pretty reasonable. That Friday would be rough for me.
As it stands, I think this would be my schedule:
Thursday: Anderson East > Natalie Prass > Bully > Oh Wonder > Blood Orange > Kamasi Washington
Friday: Beach Fossils > Ibeyi > Dungen > Lucius > Father John Misty > Cymande > Jason Isbell > pit for LCD Soundsystem > rush over to Tame Impala
Saturday: The Oh Hellos > Waxahatchee > Vulfpeck > Kurt Vile & the Violators > maybe Claypool Lennon Delirium > Pearl Jam > Superjam or M83
Sunday: The London Souls > John Moreland > Mavis Staples > Misterwives > Band of Horses > Death Cab for Cutie > Dead & Co.
Edits: - Hoping Twin Peaks or FIDLAR get a night time Thursday spot, although not if it interferes with Kamasi - I'm guessing Band of Horses and/or Grace Potter will be on a stage. - Macklemore will probably get a later time slot, maybe on Which?
You guys think third eye blind would be on which midday or 1st or 2nd act to open up the what on Friday or Saturday? I have a feeling they will have a big crowd but they are billed lower than I thought

yeah, when I originally did it they were overlapping with Ellie Goulding as the Which closer because I wanted a guitar band to play before Pearl Jam (I know, lol) but then I thought that they had pretty similar fanbases and probably wouldn't overlap. I'm making a few changes right now and I'm either going to switch the Which closer there or change things so at least there's a tent act or two conflicting with them if I do keep it.

Nice mock! Doesn't seem as painful as the others but still I little sting. So far my schedule would look like: Thurs: The Internet > Blood Orange (I really don't know the majority of these artists this day) Friday: Lord Huron > Father John Misty > (PIT) LCD Soundsystem > Tame Impala Saturday: Vulfpeck > Kurt Vile > the Les Claypool Lennon Delirium > Pearl Jam (45 mins) > M83 > Superjam Sunday: Band of Horses > Kamasi Washington > Death Cab for Cutie > Dead & Co.
Thats 16 shows already. Thats pretty great. Although I don't like that I have to miss some of Tame Impala and the Superjam just to end LCD and M83.

Okay, so I made some changes: -I switched Jason Isbell & CHVRCHES so now the former is on the What stage on Friday. -I switched Leon Bridges & Father John Misty. -I switched Kamasi & FIDLAR so now the latter closes the That Tent on Thursday. Kamasi also gets some more time in this scenario. -I moved The Claypool Lennon Delirium down a bit so now they conflict with HAIM some. -I switched Band of Horses and Sam Hunt so Band of Horses plays a stage and Sam Hunt plays the That Tent. Band of Horses may be a bit too early but I didn’t want BoH/DCFC and Macklemore/Tyler to conflict.
I still really want Cymande to play at a time when I wouldn’t have a ton of conflicts but I’m struggling to think of some changes to make so that there’s a better tent closer at that time that also allows them to play when I would reasonably not have many conflicts. (Maybe switch them and GRiZ? Kamasi -> Cymande would be cool.)
EDIT: ok so now based on scheduling stuff Father John Misty is now closing the That Tent on Sunday (also probably a dumb conflict with DCFC), Grace Potter plays before HAIM on the Which. Also switched Kurt Vile & Nathaniel Rateliff.

With Dead & Co playing 2 sets, I have to think Pearl Jam is playing Sun. Dead would play Sat unopposed during the first set, then they'd maybe start a late night show or 2 as Dead starts their 2nd set. If they played Sun, their entire set including break would be unopposed, and maybe 20k left for set 2.

As much as I hope for this possibility (with Tame Impala also on Saturday), Phish in 2012 was 2 sets entirely unopposed on Sunday. 8:00-12:00

I agree, I think Dead & Co is Saturday, with the show going slightly later than usual on What. Ween to play LN in a tent on Saturday.
