Yeah, it's one show, two sets... Probably on Friday night. They'll get billed a 1.5 hour slot, a fifteen minute break, and then another 1.5 hour slot and go 30 minutes past their scheduled time
Could easily be 3 to 3.5 hour set on Sunday as well.

Saying its two sets leads me to believe they are playing Sunday and roo just didn't want all the kids taking off complaining about another short show from the Sunday headliner

thanks. makes sense....I was wishfully hoping for a show on two days, but this makes sense

I've said this elsewhere but for everyone's consideration, Dean Ween mentioned Dead & Co were "opening" for Ween at Bonnaroo, I interpret this to mean Dead & Co are playing Friday or Saturday with Ween playing LN thereafter. Or Dean could just be full of shit.
The trend over the past three bonnaroos has been to have the biggest act on Sunday (edit: except for 2013, which had paul on Friday, so this negates my biggest-act-on-sunday argument), which this year would be Pearl Jam.

This is what I had expected since that tweet but I don't see why they would feel the need to point out 2 sets unless they're on Sunday. I'm probably reading too much into it.

Wasn't Paul on Friday, though?
shit, you're right, forgot Tom Petty was on Sunday that year. i'll edit my post.
Well yeah, it'll probably be like Deadmau5 last year. Which is why I hope, for y'all's sake, Tame Impala and M83 are after Dead & Co whichever night LCD doesn't play

Pearl Jam plays three hours if you let them. They won't short change anyone. I love the Dead but Pearl Jam is the only band on the line-up that can go 3 hours unopposed without any belly aching.
Macca contract stipulates he always plays Friday at American festivals. OSL, Lolla, Firefly, Roo- all Friday so you can throw that out.
I think the What HLers are LCD Friday; Dead on Sat; PJ on Sunday

I want Pearl Jam to close as well. I suppose informing kids that the Dead play two sets could be useful information no matter the day.
I think in terms of jambands at festivals its an important distinction. Jamband fans are so used to a stand alone show being the standard 2 sets + encore (a formula cemented by the Grateful Dead), that when you throw a jamband on a festival it's important to point out it will be the same formula for the fest. Otherwise one two hour set is assumed.
Jamband fans, for all their open-mindedness with regards to changing up setlists and on stage improvisation, are some of the most conservative live music fans I've encountered. I guess if the music is going to be so different from show to show we crave to have structure somewhere.
I have a lineup poster from 2012 and it doesn't say phish (two sets) just Phish. Im confused as why they would specify this year when every dead and co show has included an intermission so its just they're standard show and not something that needs to be advertised. Thats why I'm (stupidly maybe) holding out hope that they mean two separate and different shows
And instead of saying all of your goodbyes - let them know you realize that life goes fast - It's hard to make the good things last-you realize the sun doesn't go down - It's just an illusion caused by the world spinning round

Same reason they specify (Late Night) for Tame Impala: to make a bad lineup look marginally better
I have a lineup poster from 2012 and it doesn't say phish (two sets) just Phish.
Plus, in '09 it did specify Phish ×2 when they played two nights. We probably shouldn't expect it, but I'd love a late night and a Sunday closing set, each around 3 hours.

I did just go back to the past lineups on the website and it says phish (2 shows) which means two different shows. The two sets really is just the way to say one show two sets. Bummer but thats what it means I think. no use keeping that hope alive i suppose

Tame Impala v M83, painful. Claypool Lennon v Kurt Vile, also very painful. LCD Soundsystem v Superjam, why do you keep doing this to me?
Tame Impala only overlaps by 15 minutes with M83, tried to make it not too bad! As for tent closers I was pretty much just guessing, I had no idea how to make it realistic. Originally I had Claypool Lennon LN conflicting with LCD but I figured that was too mean haha.

Yeah I feel you, ideally I could be front row for both LCD and Tame, close up for M83 and in a good spot for the superjam, Claypool Lennon and Kurt's show. These artists are a good percentage of why I'm even going to Roo! But thanks for making a mock anyway, I was just putting in my reaction to that mock

Phish was originally just announced as Phish. An artist addition later announced it as 2 sets and then we all argued about whether that meant a full regular Phish show or that Phish would be playing twice until the schedule was released and they were on there for like 4 hours on Sunday. So what the 2 sets for Dead & Co means is that you will see a full regular show with about a 15 minute set break about halfway through.
I started putting together a mock schedule, but then all the cheese edm that'd be going to the late night made me depressed. So I have to discover some new artists that I really like before I start putting one together

Love that you put Chainsmokers on the same time as LCD.

I realized that making mine as well. I'm kinda surprised they didn't grab at least a few better EDM acts, last year there was cheese but we also had Caribou, Jamie XX, Flying Lotus and a few others. From what I've heard, this year it's mostly just all cheese.

I was trying to think of what I could put during LCD to keep the wide-eyed college folk entertained, thought that was a nice fit haha.
My path would look like: THUR: Vince Staples FRI: FJM > Halsey or CashCat > Pearl Jam > Tame Impala > M83 SAT: Leon Bridges > CHVRCHES > LCD Soundsystem > Big Grams SUN: Two Door Cinema Club > Haim > DCFC > Dead & Co.
Way too many acts I actually want to see, so I'm sure the schedule will be nothing like that haha.

and in my opinion the cheese last year wasn't even that bad. Flume and ODESZA aren't my favorite....but they aren't bad at all. I'd still enjoy their shows, it's just I had other stuff I'd rather be at. Then of course we'd end up with stuff like Bassnectar and DeadMau5....but they're also a lot better than say...Chainsmokers, Adventure Club, or Floss. It seems like they couldn't grab a big edm headliner so they put together a heavy edm undercard to make up for it. The problem is, it's such an uninspiring edm undercard and seeing how much space it'll be taking up made me sad. Like giving The Chainsmokers the Which Stage....it just hurts.
