How awful would it be to stay in Malibu for this? My friend goes to Pepperdine and it would save me a lot of money if I just crashed on her floor or something.
That'd be like 1 1/2 - 2 hours away from the fest, I think it wouldn't be worth the $ saved. But if it's the only way you can do the fest, go for it!
Ohh that would be pretty rough.. going to probably end up being a game time decision between this and Eaux Claires. Thanks for the info

Not worth it, that's supper far and LA traffic is always bad. Try getting somewhere along the expo like further away from downtown if you want to save some money, I believe it goes all the way to Culver City

Just went back and looked at the lineup for the first time since buying my ticket. Damn I forgot how stacked this is. I'm sure I'm gonna run into so many conflicts. Hoping I can see a majority of these:
Sat: Kendrick, Tame Impala, Grimes, Explosions in the Sky, Moby, Vince Staples, Wolf Parade, Jagwar Ma, DIIV, Classixx, Hop Along Sun: LCD, Beach House, Mac DeMarco, Saves the Day, Julien Baker, Charles Bradley, Gold Panda.

If I was on your coast I'd 100% be going to this. Great lineup
Dammmnnnnnn...... if Blood Orange played Saturday it would seriously be my perfect festival day. And it'd make it a lot easier to sneak in a day at a fest if I ask to visit family around this time as well. I could just use the day to go off and hang out with a friend for a day as oppose to feeling like I'm ditching them for an entire weekend (of likely a week long visit). Lame.
Who I'd see if I were going (because I'm bored and why not):
Saturday Kendrick, Tame, Air, Hot Chip, Explosions in the Sky, Moby (even though it's just a DJ set, its still fucking Moby), Vince Staples, Todd Terje, Jagwar Ma, DIIV, Classixx
Sunday LCD, Beach House, FJM, Mac Demarco, Blood Orange, Charles Bradley, Corbin (FKA Spooky Black, assuming FKA means Formally Known As...)
And honestly, that Sunday schedule are all people I've already seen or am seeing elsewhere, save for Blood Orange. Thus, that one switch would seriously seal the deal on me doing a day pass.

All day passes are sold out, if that makes your decision any easier.
I mean, it does. But, like, there is always stubhub if I was really motivated to go...
For the listings on stubhub now, after their fees it'd be cheaper/easier to buy a 2 day pass instead. This happens every year for some reason, and I still don't get it lol.

Ohhhh. So 2-day passes are still available through the rest itself? Goes to show how much I've actually looked into making this a reality. Lol. I try not to get too serious about things I'd be super excited for because I just end up disappointed. A la, Desert Trip, Coach, etc.
I'm just not meant to do California fests I suppose. (For meow..... If a move to LA happens one day that can and would change. )

Yeah 2 day tickets are still available I don't know if it ever sells out
Do it. It's a fantastic festival. If I didn't originally ask for the wrong days off, and also have an out of town wedding to attend the following weekend, I'd be there for sure.
i just want to reiterate how excited I am for this fest.
bonnaroo was really exciting for me because I probably couldn't have asked for a better set of 3 headliners, plus ween and the farm.
but this lineup is soooo good. and I was able to skip a lot of the overlap with bonnaroo to check out other shows (blood orange, charles bradley, vince staples)

august is so far away.
I can't wait to hear what you think of it! I really love this festival.
It'll be interesting to see how they utilize the space now that the sports arena will be reduced to a crater any day now...

Bought a ticket last night. The lineup was already enough for me, but adding Mac, Classixx, along with Banks and Steelz was just icing on the cake. Preferably a confetti cake.
Between Coachella, FYF, and Desert Trip, I'm going to get some good airline miles this year.
Sooooo..... Cap'n Mac and I are 100% going to be in LA during FYF, and we're working on making this work in between visits with family and friends... We have questions though...
What time are their curfews?
Do they have conflicting headliners?
What are good hotels in the area? Any in walking distance?
How accessible is it to drive in and park instead?
What are the stage set ups like? Anyone have a map or schedule from previous years we can peek at?

Thank you! I sorta got ahead of myself asking all the questions and asked first and googled second. Didn't realize the colosseum was being demolished though, so that's news.
Any hotel suggestions? I'll have a car, but my aunt lives in Thousand Oaks so it'd be a hassell to drive in everyday.

I'm moving to LA in august, so I dont know the logistics very well, but I'd imagine your best bet is to just take a cab. Parking could be brutal, and in my experience from past visits uber rates in LA are significantly lower than in other cities.

The sports arena is being demolished, the coliseum is still there but FYF has never used it in their layout before. Also USC and the LA Rams will both be utilizing it shortly, so it may still be off the table.
If I had to guess, they'll probably utilize some more asphalted space that previously went unused to make up for the loss of the sports arena.
As far as where to stay, anywhere that is close to a metro stop would be ideal. Especially along the blue line, as there's a stop at USC which is right next to the fest.
