Y'all are a bunch of starfuckers. I will take musicianship over name recognition all damn day. Maybe that's the divide as to why I'm not as pissed about the lineup in general as everyone.
That's like the opposite of the problem with the lineup in general. There's a bunch of popular big names that are not good.

The top 3 are all legit musicians. There's some pop nonsense right below them but there are also many truly excellent musicians below that wave.

the bonnaroo 2016 lineup has a variety of artists: big names that are excellent, big names that are shitty, small names that are excellent, and small names that are shitty. something for everyone.
Is Griz actually a good sax player? He's got some good tunes, and I enjoy his work, but does anyone with an ear for brass know if he has the skills to play with other professional sax players?

According to Wiki, he has been playing sax since elementary school. I'm not sure you get to this stage in a person's career without actually being good at said thing.
If he gets lost, all he has to do is stay in tune with the rest of the amazing people on stage and dominant the solo or two he gets.
May Tycho May Phoenix June Rooo July MMJ and Margo Price August Queen with Adam Lambert August Roger Waters (Bucket list #1) August Spoon and Portugal the man Sept Depeche Mode Sept Pilgrimage Fest
here's some Tennessee tunes I think could be possible, especially with that "soul" tag in the Superjam description. If you can't tell I'm a bit Memphis biased.
I could see this, especially iwth chicano batman involved.

as much sam & dave as we can fit into this would be great.
hoping this superjam has the same joyful feel as the oates superjam, but with some more actual jamming.
I'm not some crazy big love train fan, but that was a defining bonnaroo moment for me. I don't think a single person in that tent wasn't locked in during that song.
I am getting so excited for this. Especially since I will be able to get an up-close spot for this. After Claypool/Lennon I can get some grub and then head on over for my spot. EEKK!!

I'd say at least a couple Sam & Dave songs is likely, especially since Sam Moore lives here in Nashville and could join in. I saw him do 3 songs during Marty Stuart's Late night Ryman show a couple of years ago and he's still got it.

the benefits of not being a Pearl Jam fan! you should go for rail.
guest possibilities are crazy when you think about it. the theme is music by people that live nearby
great point.
trying to think what country might make it's way into the set. surely some dolly parton?
and it would be crazy of them not to do "family tradition" right? for any of you youngins planning on attending make sure you study up on the proper crowd response during that song.

Oh, that's right, you're the monster that hates Pearl Jam...

It's hard to tell on the internet what's serious and what isn't. But since this wasn't snarky, I'm guessing it's an innocent question.
GRiZ is massively talented both as a producer and a sax player. I've seen him in various form or fashion probably 8-10 times. He f'n rules. He already played a superjam with some of the same people in this one (reference my Buku afterparty superjam post a page or two back) and he's up there with Bloom and Zoidis (Shady Horns) all day.
GRiZ is future funk, but remember he's from Detroit so he does employ some Motown elements into some of his work making him a little different than the jazzier players. He hosts a lot of those guys at a retreat in the woods in the summer time to create and collaborate. Out of pieces parts of the recordings, that's how he came up with some of the material for Say It Loud (best album of last year IMHO). He has a video for the making of Say It Loud out on YouTube which is cool as fuck. He explains what they did including some live clips from the children's choir rehearsals.
I'd recommend investing 17 minutes, and you can kind of see for yourself.

I was actually waiting for you to comment about me being a monster. You are becoming predictable.

That "love train" was out of this world! I had so much fun at that set, and it gives me chills thinking that this years jam has that potential

FWIW, via reddit:
I ran into Griz in downtown Nashville this morning. He said super jam rehearsals are underway. Unfortunately, couldn't get a whole lot more out of him than that. He did say they have a TON of special guests and that I definitely don't want to miss it.
