This was the most disappointing set of the weekend. It was hyped so so much, yet they did nothing special. Them ending early was the best part about this show as I got to see blood orange. I really enjoy tame impala but this set was nothing special imo. It was also my first time seeing them live. I wasn't expecting them to jam out or anything, but I was disappointed that the whole set sounded like it was played straight off the album.

I did not sprint, due to some nagging blisters on my right foot. However, I ended up near the rotating question mark. Got fed up of large chains of people trying to push their way through what was clearly a packed crowd, so then went and danced around at Bob Moses. No regrets!
What I did hear sounded pretty solid, but based on what I've read here I'm not all that disappointed I cut out after half an hour

They played their normal set but so did LCD. I dont think thats a bad thing. The advertising of it was bs, and who knows if thats on Tame. Despite what ive said, I thought it was a very strong show that will always remain in a shadow of one of the best shows Ive ever seen. Id choose that set over bob moses and blood orange 1000 times in a row, but I can see why some would have left I guess

I really enjoyed this set and amazed that I got pit for this after being on the pit barricade for LCD. I agree that Tame was not as good as LCD but still really enjoyable.
Went to their show the preceding night in Chicago and it was amazing. Everyone was dancing and singing and the pit (which I wasn't in) was actually jumping around

It was a great show because Tame plays great shows but it was really lame they were booked for two hours. LCD could have played longer (they did at Coachella) but instead Tame got two hours and didn't even use it
Everyone involved knew the two hour set time was bullshit

It was disappointing. I know we went back and forth on it awhile back...don't care to admit that I had a swing and miss on it and you were correct.
Don't get me wrong, I enjoyed the show because I am into their material and think they have put some serious effort into performing the hits off Currents...but I was expecting more.
Tame Impala was a let down for me. I was really excited to see them because they've been great every time I've seen them. I think it's just how mellow the show is now. I know the new album is that way, but I was expecting the show to be different. They use to be really high energy and they did a lot of inprovisation.
This was one of my favorite sets of the weekend if not my favorite purely because it was my first time seeing them and they're one of my favorites. That being said, from what I've heard if you weren't near the front it wasn't nearly as good, but from where I was near the front it was awesome and the crowd was great.
This was my 3rd Tame show and it was the worst of the 3 so far due to several factors.
1. I was in the LCD pit and that show was spectacular (top 3 for me all time), so by the time I got over to Tame, I was nowhere near the stage. With the Silent Disco in its location, sight lines and getting close was impossible. 2. The sound on the Which Stage is spotty and Tame's set was no different. The music wasn't very loud and Tame's music seemed to blend in and disappear a bit. 3. They ended 30 minutes early. If they had planned to only play for 90 minutes, they should have played from 1:30 - 3 and that extra time could have gone to LCD.

I didn't think the sound was too bad, but it wasn't anything special. They actually came out about 5 minutes late and left at 1:22, so technically they only did about an hour and 15. I'm not a fan of the new album, so I went hoping to hear some more Innerspeaker and Lonerism mixed into their normal set. Overall just disappointed. They shouldn't have brought up hearing about all the "legendary" sets on the Which Stage without even trying to pull one off.

Stuck around the LCD pit for about 10 minutes, grabbed a beer and walked over. Figured I try for the pit because why not. They were just starting to left a second wave of people in so my timing was incredible. Worked my way into the middle just as they started. My first time seeing Tame and I thought they were dope. Loved all the visuals and their sound was tight. Few of the boys from Kings of Leon were next to me for most of the set too. Got a weird selfie on the sly with Caleb

I've seen them 8 times before Currents came out. I would have never described them as high energy nor have they ever done a lot of improv. What you heard may have sounded like improv, but I can assure you almost everything was carefully arranged before hand. I think some people are disappointed because they expected a jam band-esque performance. Once Innerspeaker dropped they've never really been like that. They were amazing in Montreal a few nights after.

Hmm. You must not have been to the Roo 2013 set. That was my only experience with them, and it was insane. About as energetic as you can get without moshing.

I was there, but I meant the band and not the crowd. Montreal crowd was well up for it a few nights ago. They remind of The Strokes in that they play intensely, but they dont really move around too much.

Yea I saw them twice that year and it was definitely high energy. But I knew when I typed improv that someone would say it wasn't really improv, but you knew what I meant anyway. Whatever it was, they don't do it anymore.

Well if what you meant wasn't really improv then they still do it. Sestri Levante at the end of Mind Mischief, Oscilly (not sure if they do this for fests), and (up until this recent leg of the tour) a new Intro. Unless you meant the Auto-Progs which they did up until the end of 2015. Sometimes they'd throw something in at the end of Elephant, but it wasn't like a tour staple. Half Full Glass of Wine had been played like that forever, so I wouldn't say that was improv at all.
I saw them 4 times in 2013 and, like I said, they're all really into the performance, but they're not not jumping around and all the stuff. If you want that than POND is the answer.

No, I'm not talking about the band jumping around. You don't need that to have a high energy show. Just saying the other times I've seen them it was and this wasn't.

That's too bad. Their touring schedule is so tight so I'm not surprised they're low energy some nights, they could probably use some more breaks.

Maybe it was playing at 1 am. Maybe they're not really cut out for late night. Trent Reznor complained about that set time then rocked shit to 3:30 am. They played less than an hr and a half and didn't even do an encore. Oh well, I was disappointed, but I still like their music.

That two hour time slot was baffling when it was first announced. They've definitely streamlined their set for the Currents tour and I don't think they've ever played for 2 hours to being with. Montreal was around an hour and a half not including a very short encore break. I just checked the Roo setlist and its weird that they dropped It Is Not Meant To Be when they easily had enough time. I'm amazed they made it up to Toronto in time to play Bestival that same day.
The sound on which stage seriously sucks. I never really noticed it before this year. I had fun but they played after LCD which was so damn good so any set after seeing that didn't stand a chance. I agree them ending early pretty much ruined any magic I thought this show would have but I still enjoyed it enough.

Meh. Everyone overhyped this so it was bound to be underwhelming, but it was still alright. If I wasn't so tired I would have been more into it. My only regret this Roo was that I went to this show instead of staying at Purity Ring and catching Bob Moses after. I would love to see Tame Impala again at their own show when I have more energy and a better spot, because as was already mentioned, the back of the crowd was super boring.

Sooooooooooo glad I didn't go. Caught them in 2014 and it was one of my favorite sets of all time of any show. I had a feeling this wouldn't be anything different then what I saw at Shakey Knees last year. I almost bought a ticket when I saw them label it the "Late Night" set, thinking they were going to play at least 3 hours. Glad decided against Roo this year. I'm not a big Chance fan, and thats all that everyone seems to be talking about, so I'm good.

I mean there was plenty of other awesome moments this year.
Tame just wasn't one of them.
Also, looks as if the Tame Firefly set was an exact replication of the overhyped Roo set, right down to the confetti. You'd really think they would've done something additional to make the show special (other than just playing at a later slot than normal).

Not sure what people were expecting from this set, I sure as hell wish I was there for this one. Do you really want to listen to two to three hours of Tame Impala? God no. 90 minutes is the perfect amount of time to get baked, relax and enjoy their music.
To anyone surprised that people weren't "energetic".....wut? It's Tame Impala. I'm usually the first person to get annoyed with an apathetic crowd, but I'd be the dude chilling on the grass towards the back for this set 100%. Not even sure how you'd sing along with most of their songs, it'd just sound stupid.
