When we talked about it a while back we talked about starting it off with a poll to cut it down to a bracketable sixteen, running bracket-style to the final two and then putting it to a vote. Voting open to all. 24 hours per round.
In the scheduling of phish fests, First set of each day starts 5 ish for little over hour. Second runs from 7-10 ish last band plays as long as they want with both Floyd and Phish doing monster sets in till sunrise

Will that work for everyone?
To clarify the seeding for the brackets, the 1 seed will be the one with the most votes, 2 with second most votes, etc.
In the event of ties, we'll take the initial draft order and the later draft slot will be the higher seed. So the person who picked sixth, for example, would lose a tiebreaker with the person who picked nineteenth. (Substitutes assume the first round spot of whoever they replaced.)

My festival is called "Prince and Friends" and is happening on the shores of Lake Minnetonka. You can even purify yourself in the waters. It takes place July 4th weekend.
Friday: Fogerty solo (playing Centerfield in its entirety) > Sex Pistols > Rage > Prince and the Revolution (3 hours) > Prince late night starting at 2am and going til sunrise (piano and a microphone)
Saturday: Zack de la Rocha side project > Green Day > CCR > The Cure > Prince late night

I had back to back picks every time which made it easier (but also meant my roster is heavily tiered with 40 spots between pucks). But I had trouble deciding between steely dan, sonic youth, and the meters. I picked wrong with the dan, should gone with the meters I think.
Currently consulting with my scouting department. A few scouts are arguing for U2's massive appeal, while a lone voice argues for the warring Davies brothers band The Kinks, and a third is asking how we got to 24 bands without The Ramones being selected!
Also, my scouting department are all Mizzou grads and one of them said: "The guy who took Radiohead over the Stones would have caused me to rage quit in hopes of keeping my dignity intact." I explained that actually @fortyfive33 now is one of their own.
And I just fired a scout for making a too-impassioned argument for Dave Matthews.
