If he doesn't show in 24 hours can I steal his spot? I noticed the thread too late
How about instead of 24 hours we give him like 6 hours. 24 hours is a long time and I doubt the person even knows they are a part of this.
I agree 24 hours is a long time, but those are the rules and we should stick to them at least until the end of the first round. Now, after that I think we should edit some rules. How about 6 or 8 hours during the day for your pick, but if your turn starts late in the night you get until some time later the next morning. Perhaps ten or maybe noon if we're feeling generous.

Would you all mind if I stole your thunder and started another one of these? I'd want twenty again so the results were similar to this one, though twelve or fifteen might work out better.

We're not even done with the first round yet. The fun hasn't even started!
From my understanding the rules have not changed at all. I thought it was clear bands or duos where eligible, it really should be called a anything but solo artists draft but that doesn't really roll of the tongue. Like Stefon said Iron and Wine is not eligible because a solo act, the same way Grimes would not be eligible. Sufjan Stevens tours with a band but his records are solo records and the band is a touring band, Sufjan Stevens and his band are not an entity onto themselves. Prince and the revolution or Bruce Springsteen and the E Street Band are an entity onto themselves and therefore eligible. Where I think we could run into some problems (and I wasn't gonna bring this up cause I was at some point planing on taking someone like this)but I think it's best we clear this hurdle now, is what happens when we have whats really a solo project that then goes out and tours as a band like Bon Iver and Tame Impala. Really those are Justin Vernons and Kevin Parker solo projects under and artists name that then get a live band to play their albums live. If Grimes music required a backing band and she then toured with one would Grimes be a band?
1. 6 or 8 hours to make a pick is too short. People have jobs, and occasionally a social life outside of Inforoo. I think 24 is appropriate. 2. The "no solo acts" rule is incredibly arbitrary and has done absolutely nothing except cause confusion and shorten the pool of potential draft picks.

I agree, but unfortunately the only fair thing to do would be to start it all over if we include solo artists. Maybe we need to make our own list of solo acts that are not allowed. I don't know.

Debating in my head what does and does not constitute a band is giving me and existential meltdown, I love it. But I get if people don't want to debate this or find it irritating. The list of bands acts not allowed sounds like a good idea, I think we should have commissioners too. As far as I can tell no one's picks have broken the rules, I hope we continue.

With 24 hours a pick we have time to compile a list of sorts.
First time doing something like this is always a learning curve. It took about 4 seasons of tweaking the scoring system of our fantasy hockey league before we got it to a point we were all happy with some years back.

Agreed, you guys start working on this list.
Here are a couple names.
Billy Joel Janis Joplin Drake Sir Paul McFartney Nas Yeezus Elton John
I think 8 hours is too short, but 12 hours seems like a better time limit than 24, and not unreasonable. Otherwise this thing is just going to drag on.

Agreed, I don't think it would be fair to start including solo acts at this point. Personally I'd be okay with starting over, but we're far enough into it at this point that I doubt most people would feel the same/care enough so I didn't even bring it up.
And Katy/Pepe I'm fine with 12 hours for myself (Lord knows I'm on here often enough), but suppose someone makes their selection at 9PM - if the next person doesn't go on Inforoo that night and then goes to work the next morning, they're out of luck. Of course the potential is there for this to take forever with a 24-hour deadline, but this seems to be moving along at a reasonable clip and I think the large majority of us will probably make our choices within a much shorter timeframe anyway. I think 24 hours is suitable to protect those who might not be on here as continually as we are. The likelihood of each person actually taking a full day to make their selection is very small, in my opinion.

Decided to work on a list of acts people might not be aware are eligible, cause a list of eligible acts would be massive. This is what I got so far, let me know if you disagree Solo artist and a band that exist together as a unit onto themselves Singing group Singing Duo Solo project that has morphed into a band as unit onto themselves Rap bands Electronic bands

Maybe you could make it so that solo artists are available after the first round, so that everyone has a fair shake at it (kinda). The order would be reversed, but that kind of evens the playing field for those who got the bottom picks. Just a thought. This seems fun, which is why I wanted to do another one.
