When we visited Coachella this year, it was surprising the amount of Australian and New Zealanders who make that trip. Saw numerous flags and our immediate neighbors were from Australia as well. I guess when you live down under and want to visit ANYWHERE that speaks the same language as you, that's the closest hike. So it isn't surprising that they'd head back for Desert Trip.

I saw quite a few Aussies and Kiwis at Coachella too. They are usually making a trip across the states. It never fails, when I stay in a hostel anywhere, I'm going to encounter at least one group from the land down under on this trek. One guy actually bought a used car just to drive from Austin to New Orleans.
Take aways: Zeppelin turned down 14 million to play this year. Steely Dan has already been contacted about performing in 2017; so I guess this is an annual thing now.

Yeah those names aren't nearly as big but if they could get Led Zeppelin I think it would automatically jump this year and they could charge whatever they wanted. I guess maybe we need to root against LZ in court so they'll need the money? lol

Steely Dan is a huge down turn from the 6 this year
Steely Dan may not have reached the fame as some of these artists, but holy hell, in terms of musicianship, there are not many bands more impressive than the dan. That is for sure.
Steely Dan is a downgrade from this year but would still fit in the Neil Young or Bob Dylan slot. Between Fleetwood Mac, Springsteen, U2, AC/DC and some others they could put together something great, though probably not ever as good as this year. Although a Zeppelin or Floyd reunion could really put it over the top.

They're not booking fucking Aerosmith.
The rest of that seems reasonable though. Also, I bet that $14 million offer is going to be a lot more appealing to Led Zeppelin after they lose this Stairway lawsuit.
AMEX just released about 1000 seats for each weekend. Prices on StubHub have plummeted for both weekends. PM me for the AMEX link if you still need tickets!

Now that I'm officially in, I can officially get HYPED AS SHIT!!!
Also, if anyone else is staying at the Desert Springs Villas, let me know! I'll be coming from Canada with my girlfriend, so it'd be great to have any American friends who could help me out down there.

They won, so looks like they'll be swimming in the cash for now.

If there's anyone out there looking for a VIP ticket to Desert Trip Weekend 1 without paying double the price on Stub Hub, I have one available ticket that was originally $699 ($750 with fees), that I'm willing to part ways with for $775 (enough extra for me to cover any Pay Pal fees, 2-day shipping). The section is: 3-Day RSVD Floor $699 - Section:409 Row:P Seat:7
I also have a hotel booking for Rodeway Inn & Suites in Indio with a check in Thursday Oct. 6th and Check out Monday Oct. 10th. I haven't put any money down on the hotel room, but I can see if I can switch the booking information if you want the room for $311 total with taxes.
Rodeway Inn & Suites 82275 Indio Boulevard, Indio (California), CA 92201
I'm likely going to hate myself for the better part of my life for passing this up, but I'm starting a small business and have to shift any of my funds to adult stuff.
