If DT 2017 goes down, Fleetwood Mac is a lock. Six months ago (!!!), Mick Fleetwood confirmed the Mac would be hitting the road in October 2017. No chance that is a coincidence. Full quote here:

If the lineup is right, I would love to do this festival again. The experience was quite enjoyable, despite the place being roughly the same temperature as the sun and being as far away as Pluto in GA. Still super fun.
I also wish the security at this festival was the standard everywhere, all employees were super friendly and helpful. It was nice not being treated like a criminal when entering.

Think the Eagles miiiight be a bit of a stretch with Frey's passing, but if there's any band who would hire a ringer to make some cash, it's definitely them. Hell, I'd be pumped just for the four or five Joe Walsh solo numbers.
The 2017 lineup will obviously be a step down. But the festival itself was just so damn well executed that even with 75% of the talent, I'd still return in a heartbeat.

Care to elaborate? I tend to agree with your writings. The thing I'm thinking about here is that they could only do this festival once if they want to do it like they did this year. I mean, there's no one left that would come close to this. I'm sure they could do
U2 • The Boss • Stevie Wonder Elton John • Fleetwood Mac • Paul Simon
That's not nearly as good, but it would sell out, so who cares, I guess?

It was just a very easy festival to attend. Hanging around the desert during the day (poolside, personally) and then cruising into the festival as the sun was setting was so pleasant. I was skeptical about only having two acts each night, but it was also kind of cool to have everyone experiencing the same two shows.
I'm not sure who they would book, but if it looked semi decent I would most likely return as the location is fairly close to me and I enjoy visiting the area anyway. In fact, my husband and I booked a trip there that weekend for our anniversary before the festival was even announced. So it all kind of worked out well for us
I know I'm shooting for the stars here but I feel like the next time they do this it will include Led Zeppelin. Led Zeppelin, Bruce, U2, Fleetwood Mac, Paul Simon, Stevie Wonder

I'm setting my hopes too high, too! Cause, why not?! It's fun.

I mean honestly though, if I told you guys there would be a festival with the lineup this had this year you would have laughed in my face
Sure seems like it anyway, hotel rates for those same October weekends in 2017 have been sky-high and haven't moved for months. They obviously know something.
Also, FWIW, news of Desert Trip 1 leaked a year ago today. We might be hearing something soon.
Glad I re-booked my room for this year. Fingers crossed!
When and where did you book? I've been trying to book since November and aside from sleazy motels, all places have had limited availability and/or $400+ a night rooms.

I booked last month for the Palm Mountain Resort & Spa in Palm Springs through booking.com $785 for 4 nights. Did the first two weekends in October, just in case it shifts around, but really hoping it's the first weekend and falls on our anniversary again!

Thank you! Booked! Was foolishly only looking at places on the shuttle line -- this place isn't, but is right next to a spot that is!

Yay! you won't regret it. It's a quaint little spot, and we met lots of friendly people hanging around by the pool during the day.
