Whether it's your first Bonnaroo or you’re a music festival veteran, we welcome you to Inforoo.
Here you'll find info about artists, rumors, camping tips, and the infamous Roo Clues. Have a look around then create an account and join in the fun. See you at Bonnaroo!!
Reading the original article it does appear it'll be closer to a concert format, which makes sense given full-sets for each of them. Might see a couple bands before, but nothing close to a festival lineup.
what have you read that makes you assume this?
The way they talk about one act opening for the other makes it seem like just 3 days of doubleheaders from some rock Titans. The cost of those 6 has to be prohibitive of much of an undercard. Aside from maybe Dylan, those are all marquee headliners.
And it would follow the format of the Big Four "festival" a couple years ago, where it was just the four bands on a single stage.

While these are some expensive headliners, given the demographic this festival is targeting they certainly have plenty of money to toss around for some opening acts. Here's hoping they manage to sneak in a couple modern rock bands like Pearl Jam or Foo Fighters who want to simply be a part of history. The marketing for this event could be non-existent with all the media coverage it'll receive.
Agreed. Having Kanye play this show would give it the musical legitimacy and overall gravitas it desperately needs.
absolutely disagree 100%
Listen, I know not all of us are fans of studious, cerebral classic rock like the kind Kanye makes, but let me break it down: Kanye West has won 21 Grammys. Paul McCartney comes close with 18 Grammys won in various groups, Bob Dylan has won 11, Roger Waters has won 3, and Neil Young and The Rolling Stones are tied for two. And The Who have won zero! Sorry, but you just can't argue with the numbers!
I was talking about this with Sleepy last night, and we were thinking that anyone else on the card may actually cheapen the whole thing. You have these huge legends and you're going to have some random, recent act open for them? Like, who would you suggest? Bc every name I could think of makes the whole thing just sound less.... Idk, magical? If that makes any sense.
In other news, what are realistic guesses at ticket prices? I'm thinking there's no way this less than $1,000. But if it were like $5-600 I'd be ecstatic.
you all know how bored i get. also i have no clue what to expect from this fest.
Only on Inforoo can you take the most obscenely stacked lineup since Woodstock, and still have people expecting a normal festival lineup as the undercard.
As Monie said, adding more acts would only cheapen what this is. Unlesssss they want to throw in like, a Keith Richards solo set or something...

In all seriousness I'd fly out for Neil Young and Paul McCartney. Dylan and Waters don't particularly interest me (David Gilmour would be my pick) and The Stones have been doing the same set since I saw them in 2013. The Who were pretty spectacular this year but it didn't beat their Quadrophenia shows in 2012.

Waters was absolutely amazing at Newport last year. I had high expectations going in and he exceeded them. I'd still take Gilmour but it was an awesome show for sure. I've seen Dylan so many times that I am not even sure anymore and at least once coming up this summer. Saw the Stones last summer and McCartney in the late fall. I've seen them all recently except Neil and I would totally still go to this with something added to do during the day.

I've seen Dylan three times (Roo '04, in 05, and 09), saw Young twice in 03 greendale tour, saw McCartney at Roo '13, and saw the Who in 2000 with Entwhistle. I haven't seen the Stones or Waters, but for the price, tickets, travel (from Deep South Texas), lodging, and food, I just cannot justify it. If I didn't take the wife (good luck with that) it would be easily $1500, adding the wife puts it at $2000 easy my guess. For GA too. That said, If I hadn't seen any of them, it would be absolutely worth it,
With absolutely no reason to think this I'm guessing they add one recent band a day as the opener. Im going Bama Shakes, Wilco, MMJ and broke.
Adding MMJ to this lineup would take me from "this sounds amazing, but tough to justify financially" to "just bought plane tickets and pre-paid my hotel room".

I've been thinking the same thing, without really a clear reason either. Maybe it's weird to launch into one of these legends without some kind of opener, maybe it would just be cool to see some newer acts opening this kind of show, not to mention the possibility for collabs that would entail. I don't think we'll see a full lineup of acts, but a round of openers makes a lot of sense to me.
I like your picks, too – I lean indie on this rather than contemporary mega-acts like the Foo Fighters. Tame Impala and Avett Bros also make sense to me as possible openers here. Deerhunter would be sick as hell but a bit of a risk. Same with Father John Misty. I could also see Courtney Barnett up there. I could definitely see St Vincent or the War on Drugs, but they would make more sense opening for different sets of legends than the ones on this bill.
Putting a lot of names out there, but I would expect 3 openers on the lineup. If I were to blind guess I'd say Tame Impala / Alabama Shakes / Courtney Barnett, but I'm perfectly willing to swap out Courtney for Deerhunter if we want to get weird before Rogers/Who.
