100 % my thoughts exactly. LOVE LOVE LOVE Ween and GriZ, but can't stand Bassnectar. That fan-group at festivals can be a little much for me.
Just glad I'm not the only one. Griz is my favorite EDM artist and I still can't fathom going simply because of Nectar. I like the dude's music, his overwhelming fanbase is unbearable though (I mean the BASSHEADS BRO not the normal fans).

I'm always surprised at the distaste for Bassnectar fans. I saw Bassnectar NYE a couple years ago and it felt a lot like being at a Phish or Panic NYE, just a bunch of spun out kids running around screaming.

nope, it's based on people's experiences with bassnectar fans. I don't even know which youtube video you are even talking about
it was some twisted around b.s. about "rail fam" where it supposedly turned out to be bullshit. Some guy and chick were complaining that the camped out rail fans wouldn't let them get in front of them to see an earlier show. But someone else who was there reported they were super aggressive and throwing elbows at the bassheads.
I did hear about them douchely camping out at Bisco a couple years ago. But I've probably seen him 5 times, and I've never had any issues. I even wanted there to be issues at Euphoria last year, since I was in front of rail fam in the VIP Pit. I was trying to troll a bunch of them, but they were all really nice kids who were down with Lettuce and GRiZ and the other sets that day. There is plenty of groupthink hate, though I do realize that some people have had bad experiences with some of the fans. Still, Bassnectar himself preaches against that shit. Plus the new EP he released in the last few days is decent except one song I didn't care for.

I am assuming the hate is about the way nectar fans act at the rail, like turning their backs on other artist, not letting others ride for sets before nectar? If these actions are the only issue, has it not been fixed by the Nectar community? If not, SOSMP will or can fix this?
Either way, sad to hear some are gonna let the actions of a few fans, from one artist, keep them away from an awesome fest with a great lineup.
I think it has a bit for everyone and I am excited as FUNK! I mean, we can recreate our own personal Bear Creek in this lineup. Lettuce Griz Dumpsta Charles Bradley! Nth Power Tauk add in some Beats and Kasmai Washington

Agreed. I'm sure there are legit experiences from people who have real gripes. And maybe it compounds because some of them are warped on research chemicals. And not everyone understands electrohippies. Someone was calling out a dead flag at The Other Stage odd or ironic. But electrohippies are at least cooler than candy kids and platypi of a few years ago. JMO
This lineup is just the same bunch of bands that consistently play at the Suwannee and then add the top section. It is not some mind blowing lineup, it's just business as usual for Hula. There will be some shitty fans there for nectar, but most of the people shouldn't be awful (unless you try to ask the bassheads who they are excited to see. You, better be prepared for verbally delivered thesis paper on how many times they've seen Lorin and how amazing it is, hahaha.) I think that the regulars of the SOSMP will help to regulate the nonsense and ensure that nobody acts like a supreme ass. Besides, the bass heads don't love nectar as much as the cheese heads love their SCI!!!

Lol. It was a good show. I gave the fest to STS9 then Juicy J, Digital Tape Machine, Broccoli Samurai then Bassnectar. So it made my Top 5. It was a good time. As I've said before i have a mixed history with Bassnectar. I left him to see Slightly Stoopid at Hangout back when, fell asleep watching the set at Roo 15. But I enjoyed his Buku set (15?) and the Voodoo 13.

Welp, my friends and I are out on this one. We all had terrible experiences, one of my friends especially, with bassnecter fans at electric forest. Love cheese, but this lineup doesn't do a whole lot for me unfortunately because the festival site itself is one of the best.
I was on the rail for Nectar the year he played Hangout and the fans weren't that bad. I didn't see anybody fighting/shoving for the rail or turning their back on other performers like some have mentioned. (The Roots played before him and if you turn your back on that shit I question if you're human). Like Fore said, just a bunch of 18-20 year olds who wont shut up about how many times they've seen Nectar in the past, but they're harmless.

Not Nectar related, but the Deadmau5 fans waiting on the rail all day one year at ACL really did not appreciate being subjected to the sounds of Father John Misty, Sturgill Simpson, and Modest Mouse. If they hadn't been so determined to rail, they could have enjoyed Bassnectar across the oark.

I mostly agree with this. There's a lot of worse shit that kids could be into than Bassnectar. Though it does get annoying to me when the ones I know who are friends with my kids won't shut up about technical electronic bullshit they read about online and memorize. Oh my god! The way that keyboard note gets translated through that flange-pedal while turning the brass knob on the mock-Korg synthesizer and coming out of those two M-Audio Trigger Finger Controllers!

There is a core group of maybe 100 basshead wooks who travel to all his shows and ride the rail and give the other tens of thousands of fans a bad name. I had a bad encounter with them at EDC, then afterward pulled up bassnectar 'family photos' and saw the same exact douchenozzles on the rail at all his other shows. Paul confirmed they're clearing the mainstage rail between bands so this will be a non-issue.

I've never really experience any bad behavior during the shows from any bassheads or PL fam but outside the shows, they can be some devious little turds.

Conniving, thieving wooks. However, PL Fam is a completely different and much more tolerable animal overall.
