Haters be damned, I'm incredibly excited about this lineup. I'm going to have a hard time taking time off because it's literally the weekend I return from my honeymoon but I'm doing what I can to make it happen.
So I love the lineup, but I wanted to talk lineup logistics, because if anyone likes to dissect billing order and stuff like that with me, it's inforoo. I think in terms of draw and popularity the top 4 billing is right on the mark. RTJ is ok too, but then.. Nick Murphy as #6? Ok, this is probably total ignorance on my part, but who the fuck is that, and how did they get such high billing? The RL grime.. ok, he's popular, I get it. seems like high billing for this festival, to me, but I guess that's fine. I just dont know hes a great fit. Then, this is probably ignorance again, but who the hell is Nathaniel Rateliff and how did he get such high billing? Leading up to what I'm really getting at... how are all these dudes billed above THE DISCO BISCUITS?
Maybe I'm way off but I've always imagined the disco biscuits being way up there in terms of notoriety and popularity in the jam scene, up there with umphreys and sts9. For a festival like this, I feel like the biscuits ought to be headlining, or at least 5th or 6th on the lineup. How did they end up so far down?
And then.. let's talk about beats antique. I realize the festival has grown and all, but just 3 years ago they were billed as a headliner. This year? 18th?! seems like an extreme downgrade. Seems like they ought to have at least been up there with some of the bigger text names.
Nick Murphy is a writer singer from Australia who was formerly known by Chet Faker. You've probably run across him somewhere. Nathaniel Rateliff and the Night Sweats is like an ?) piece folk-R&B-bluesy sort of act that's been moving up into the mid and upper mid cards the last couple of years.
I can't answer your other questions, but you could PM Paul and he would possibly tell you.

Luckily, with this billing they probably end up at the amphitheater with a crazy light show in the trees. I guess they could play that same area STS9 was in last year by the horse stables. That was a fun stage, the time I spent there. Great artistic representation from the crowd going on during day sets.

I kind of agree with this. I'm Super excited for the biscuits. Also to your beats thing. The top lines are a lot more popular than Beats ever have been. And don't get me wrong their set 3 yrs ago was epic. But I'm kind of curious where they book Here Come The Mummies I hope they are a night set either ampitheater or spirit lake
Paul confirmed they're clearing the mainstage rail between bands so this will be a non-issue.
I think they do this, only if it becomes an issue. There is nothing wrong with riding the rail, all day. You do the time, you get the prime, spot. It is when you turn your back or sit down and not let others enjoy other artist/shows. Which I do not believe will be an issue, anymore.

I really hope that's a none issue. I'm not really trying to get in front for many shows that'll likely be main stage, but just to think some kids sitting down and talking throughout a set seems super disrespectful.

I was close up for Bassnectar at a festival, and got up there about 2 acts before he began. The rail was filled with bassheads. While they weren't sitting down they were resting their heads on the rail, talking, playing on their phones, and otherwise uninterested in the artist onstage before bassnectar. It kind of killed the vibe and it's kind of disrespectful to the artist onstage.

FWIW, the production work from the clips I saw from Electric Forest may be his best so far. The visuals look to be about as good as it gets.

Not about to make a schedule but some givens:
2 SCI sets Friday (one before or during sunset, on after dark) 3 SCI sets Sat (2 before or during sunset, then a themed cover set after dark) Bassnectar will play around midnight on the mainstage fri or sat Griz will close out mainstage on sunday around 8 or 8:30 pm. Ween will probably close out mainstage Fri or sat at midnight, but who knows.
On a related note I have no evidence but I have some deep sinking feeling that Run the Jewels will directly conflict with the Disco Biscuits and the idea of this gives me anxiety. I really need to see both.

The Run the Jewels and Disco Biscuits conflict is something i've been worried about. Kind of like Logic and STS9 last year. I hope this doesn't happen though. Biscuits and RTJ are two of my most anticipated sets.
That was petty cool. Felt like I was reading the schedule, until I saw Dumpstaphunk on spirit lake stage. They should play on the Amp. Very nice though, I like it.

Actually, I'm hearing through the grapevine (from someone who knows people who know people) that Disco Biscuits will play Sat. I can't speak to how reliable this source is, but that's what I'm hearing

Pretty spot on and I think you're on to something with the RTJ/Biscuits clash, sadly. I know I'll end up at RTJ but damn.
Also, do we think the themed set will be 90's? Since '15 was 70's (Ghoul Train) and last year was 80's (Stringier Things) it would make sense but I kind of hope it's something a little more creative.

I think 90's is too obvious and they will mix it up. Maybe go Christmas themed like Short Cut Camp will be.

After seeing Vince Staples this past weekend at Panorama, I'm excited for him at Hula. New album is danceable and his energy is fun. Hoping for an ampitheater set later night.

A Christmas set would be wildly fun! It'll be fun if it's 90's too but something more creative and unexpected is what I'm hoping for.

Saw a comment from Paul on reddit that they'll be dealing with the path to the Patch this year, sounds like they might be expanding that area too, all good news.
Hoping for theme and/or additions here soon, we're about 60 days out.
Live for Live Music posted an exclusive interview with Spirit of Suwanee Music Park owner James Cornett. Lots of great information on the history of the park, some of their favorite spots how it runs, etc. I didn't get to explore that much of it when we went except for wandering off and getting lost at night. Looks like they're capping out at 20,000 this year for Hulaween.
Any idea when the schedule comes out for this thing? Considering making the trip..
Few other quick questions if someone wants to humor me, I'd love a comparison to Roo in regards to crowd, logistics, and how Thursday stacks up (considering coming in Fri or Sat AM)
