This is the second year in a row that Hula and Levitation have both put out two of my favorite lineups of the year. I'm gonna have to make it to this fest at some point.

This is the year, man! Should be a large contingent from here making the trek down.
I don't hate that lineup and I usually can't stand jam band fests
Hulaween is definitely moving in a new, exciting direction. It used to be way more jam-oriented, but there's really no need to keep it so jammy when other festivals satisfy that niche just fine.
Bonz how do you do these long distance fests? Do you not camp or do you have your festival camping rig down to a science like those people who pack for a month in Europe in a carry on?
I always camp! If it's semi reasonable to drive, I will drive to make sure I have all my comforts. Lock'n is like 8-9 hours. Even though it's 16+ hours, I also usually drive to Roo because, well, it's Roo.
Other camping fests that are further away like those at SOSMP, I usually just bring some items and look to friends (helloooo Inforoo and internet friends becoming real friends!) for help with additional items. For example, I might bring my tent and sleeping gear, but will look to others for chairs, cooler space, etc.

Yes, and it's first-come-first-serve, so you can pretty much park wherever within reason. It's a camping park year-round too, so people get there 3-4 days early for the really good spots and just pay the park to camp.
That's a game changer.....
I think it's $20/person/night, but don't quote me on that. Check out the SOSMP website for more details.

That's a good call. My wife and I pretty much hit up every fest we can within a 10 hour radius of us (that fits our music taste). It's gonna be a busy summer! Mountain Jam, Roo, Newport, Floyd Fest, Lockn...that new one where all good was held is almost too close to pass up as well.
They tell us "Rock'n'roll is the devil's music." Well, let's say we know that rock is the devil's music, and we know that it is, for sure … At least he fuckin' jams! If it's a choice between eternal Hell and good tunes, and eternal Heaven and New Kids on the fuckin' Block … I'm gonna be surfin' on the lake of fire, rockin' out.

I would love to but there's no way it's happening for me this year.
Doesn't this venue cap out attendance at 20k anyway? Last year had a similar lineup in terms of acts that draw, but it never sold out.
Did they cap it last year? 15 had wayyyy more ppl then 14 seemed to. It's $20/person if you show up on Wednesday. My group and I are doing just that and going down to the canoe outpost and renting a canoe for the entire day. Nothing more relaxing than floating down Suwannee.

Not officially, but they did reach capacity sometime on Saturday. They stopped letting cars into the campgrounds and had people camping outside the gates on Friday from what I heard. Capping it at 20,000 may not make much of a difference, but it will make tickets more in demand, especially with the reaction to the initial lineup.
Another thing to note is that they expanded the size of the Amphitheater area quite a bit by moving the fence to the far right/campground side back to the road. They did away with a ton of great campsites, but they expanded room for another 500-1000 people easily. At Tipper they also had a beer and coctail stand on that side, next to the porta-potties just inside the entrance. It's a minor change that I haven't seen anyone mention yet.
There's a lot of new info on the website...I found this interesting. Car camping is changing:
The significant growth in the 2015 event created many challenges for the producers and venue. Since the end of the 2015 event, the Suwannee Hulaween producers, in partnership with SCI and The Spirit of the Suwannee Music Park, have been working hard to develop a plan that will make Suwannee Hulaween 2016 the smoothest, least stressful and most enjoyable experience possible for every guest.
To address issues of over-crowding and congestion, Suwannee Hulaween 2016 will limit ticket sales to 20,000 weekend passes. Please plan to buy your tickets early this year to avoid missing out on Suwannee Hulaween 2016.
In order to reduce congestion in the camping areas, Suwannee Hulaween will limit the number of cars entering the campgrounds by implementing a new Car Camping Pass priced at $20.00 per vehicle. There is no limit to the number of guests that can camp with each car, just a limit on the number of cars allowed into the campgrounds.
Guests who do not wish to pay for a Car Camping Pass can park their car in the outer lots for FREE and ride an extensive shuttle service system to the campground.
Suwannee Hulaween hope that implementing the Car Camping Pass will encourage attendees to carpool. Carpooling will significantly reduce environmental impact, traffic and congestion. Car Camping Passes will go on sale on Friday, April 29, 2016 through Elevate at 10am MST / 12pm EST.

You already know I'll be at Newport! And I'll likely be either doing a day pass or two for MJ or maybe even the "weekend" aka working most of Friday and going straight there and packing up Sunday morning and coming back after Avetts. My MJ crew (one of the few fests where my crew isn't centered around Inforoo) does Floydfest hard every year. They make it an extended thing at my friend's house (Lloyd, but we call him Floyd and he lives near there). They have been working hard at getting me to go every year. Not saying I will be there this year, but there's a chance. I need to make sure to meet you and your wife, so I can recognize you at all these fests!

20k is the soft cap, but last year they never cut off sales. My buddy came at like noon Saturday and got a weekend pass, but he wasn't allowed to drive in. They had shuttles so it wasn't bad, though.

Haha, I figured we'd get used to seeing your face since we have such similar taste in music (and festivals). We'll make it happen!

Really liking Phase 1 it's got good balance and that's one of my favorite things about Hulaween glad to see Les Claypools back and stoked to see Greensky Bluegrass and Umphreys. I'm pumped to see what Phase 2 will add. I'd like to see Leftover Salmon, DeadMau5 ,Grampas Cough Medicine added and would love to see Sturgill Simpson added to play the 30th(he plays the Rhyman 28&29th) but overall happy. Only 6 more months!
