Spirit lake already has another, new stage there as well.
Perhaps I misunderstood what my friend was telling me. Only time will tell, I guess
Maybe they misunderstood, i am not sure they are building another amphitheater per se, but they are adding new stages. I know spirit lake is taking over the lake area, there will be no camping around the lake. With this expansion, they are adding a stage into the spirit lake area, (it will hold 2 different stages)kind of like the stage they added last year, but will be located further around the lake and could possibly hold later shows. On top of that, they are adding another big stage somewhere over by or around the main stage. This stage will also be accessible from spirit lake. This new stage might conflict set times with the amphitheater stage, but from my understanding it will help alleviate the amphitheater over crowding. This will give Hula 4 stages to work with.

Ah, I think he just explained the location poorly because before he mentioned the playground, he said over by the main stage but off to the side (I think) kind of like if you follow the hill in the back of field all the way down to the left.
^Where is this playground I keep hearing about? Lol. Seems like up in there is the only place a new stage would fit and still be on or with in the "festival grounds". Also, if you cut through those woods, or tree line, you come out on the backside of spirit lake. Either way, I am looking forward to this new lay out.

A version of them has, there will still be festivals at the park that have those same themes, at basically those same times, they'll just have different names and production companies.

Is anyone around here leaving out of Tampa or Orlando on Wednesday or early Thursday for Hula? I'm looking to fly in to one of those areas if I could arrange a ride to Live Oak on one of those days.

I was going to fly into Jacksonville because everyone I knew going and would have my camping stuff I couldnt fly wasnt going to the preparty but man that Thursday looks too good to miss. Thinking about flying in early and just buying everything. I need a vacstion so bad justifying the extra cost to go early wouldnt be hard for me. Id have to look at flight prices into Tampa or Orlando but if it works you could ride with me.

I've switched my sights to flying into Atlanta. It's cheaper and a few people from around here are leaving out of there. The pre-party is nice and has me taking an extra day off to get to the park early. You wouldn't need much camping gear at Suwanee. Nothing like a canopy with all the shade the trees provide. I'll just be bringing a tent and a mat to sleep on since my Allagash cot got confiscated at the DFW airport. I need to book something soon before prices start going up. Rounstrip for me was going to be around $135 but not much more expensive to land in Tampa or Orlando. Let me know what you think. Maybe it would be cheaper for you as well There was talk of going in on a rental in ATL to accommodate more passengers.
Hey Scrog...Guess who just bought their plane ticket!
Funk yeah! Where you flying into?
Tampa. I'm riding up with my friends. I'll be around for Wednesday festivities. I'm bunking with them but I need to get love from you and your lovely wife. So excited to see you again!

Welcome back Bonz, but I do not find it strange that your presence being requested in the Orgy thread and then you showing up, like it was the quacking Bonzai Bat Signal.

Found out the one act I really want to see (Anderson .Paak) and the one act my gf really wanted to see (Charles Bradley) are both playing the same day (Friday). Stoked.

Anderson.Paak isn't all that great in my opinion. I've seen him twice (live and livestream). Buku was raw-er and better; stream from Coachella was average. Interesting choices for the only acts you or your girlfriend wants to see. I don't see either one of them in the Top 15 for Hulaween. To each their own though. There are people on the Shows board excited about Bon Iver. His show at 2012 Bonnaroo might have been the most boring part of a set I listened to ever. Just the same, I don't really comprehend "stoked" for either of those acts. Good thing you're excited though since you're going. Anderson.Paak is on my float by/maybe list at Voodoo depending on conflicts.

You can't really say you've seen an act if you've seen them via a stream. By nearly every account I've seen, Coachella attendees who saw his set hailed it as one of the best of the year, if not one of the best in the festival's history. His album Malibu is in my top five favorites of the year as well. My GF loves Charles Bradley and really wants to see him again too.
These aren't the only two artists we'd see, just the two must-sees for us. If I went for the whole weekend, I'd definitely check out Bob Moses, RUFUS, Disclosure, MMJ, STS9, Claypool Lennon, Washed Out and some others. But, those two are the two we'd be really bummed about missing.

I gotcha. You're just saying you only have to drive up there for one day since both want-to-see acts are on the same day. It seemed like you were saying those were the only specific act either of you really wanted to see.
I saw Anderson.Paak live in person in March (Buku). It was more rap and drum work than the more song-friendly set he did at Coachella. I got to the point with Coachella that I was switching to whatever was on one of the other streams. I don't know man, I think people overdo their reports sometimes. If anyone thought that was one of the best in the festival's history, they must not have gone to a lot of Coachella's. I didn't even consider it among the upper-echelon live-stream sets I watched from Coachella this year, and that was more than 20. In any event, I hope it's good. I'm not that big of a fan of the "song" songs and bit of R&B. I rather the improv, drum parts and raps. I hope he delivers.

Exactly. I wasn't looking to go the whole weekend and was hoping both of our must-sees would play on the same day to make things easy.
I know he plays the drums and sings/raps live, so that's pretty neat. I'm not trying to go in with super high expectations, but I am very excited to see him. I wanted to see him at Pitchfork, but he conflicted with Brian Wilson.
