i guess im out of loop, i know phoenix's 2013 coachella headlining spot was a wash but i still thought they were pretty huge, even with the past 2 years off.

I remember them being like third line or something at Music Midtown that year too.

damn you're right. coachella was REALLY off that year.

They're still big but other possible headliners like Bon Iver and Arcade Fire are just bigger

Coachella gambled on Bankrupt! being a huge success and it fell short of expectations. Still a solid album, and they proved they could hold their own in a headlining spot.

oh i dont doubt AF being bigger, and i think Bon Iver and Phoenix are about on the same level. Phoenix maybe bigger this summer if they tour with a new album.

I still don't get Bon Iver. And I still maintain that was one of the most boring shows I've seen at a Festival. Phoenix is way more exciting of a show for my money even though I'm not a giant fan.

I wasn't huge on Bon Iver at first. Thought he was ok. The 2012 show turned me into a huge fan. After that it's just grown. Totally a headliner of this fest and for sure bigger than Phoenix. Now if they release another Wolfgang Amadeus... Then it may be up for debate. But probably not.

I doubt Phoenix will be the #1 act on the lineup, especially with this fest growing year in and year out. How likely is AF at this point? I would go bananas if Sweetwood pulled that off.
If I do make this trip, I will be riding Megabus. They just open some early spring months for booking, and from my stop to ATL it only leaves at 2:00 in the day....which means I wouldn't be getting into town until after 10 in the evening. I don't mind to come down on Thursday and pay for the extra night of hotel, but I would like to be able to go the pre-party and enjoy the city in that scenario.

Word. We were beat down by that point (talking Bonnaroo 2012), which I think was Sunday afternoon. So I'm going to have to give them another chance.

Just bought a ticket for this - I couldn't pass it up given the lineup is always right up my alley. Now we will just have to see if I end up making it or not!
with c3 having hands in this and Roo I doubt they take all of this. I could see Bon Iver and Phoenix. 3rd being somebody like Wilco? Flaming Lips? Or some act we aren't predicting. I could also see those acts as 4th and another act around the same caliber

Lambchop doesn't have any dates past March right now. I think they would fit in here.
Kim Gordon recently put out a single under her own name. It would be cool to see a solo set from her (assuming she wants to tour).
Others I could see here: Weyes Blood, Jagwar Ma, Whitney (if they're still on tour), Jacuzzi Boys, Warehouse, Arbor Labor Union, Purling Hiss. I'm bad at predicting the top lines of this fest.
Chavez has an EP coming out in January. They could fill the Slowdive spot.
I think it'd be cool if they booked either Bill Callahan or Bonnie 'Prince' Billy but I have no idea what either of those dude's current attitude toward touring and fests are like.
Either way I'm super excited for another year!
editing to add that Pissed Jeans and Sinkane could both play this thing too.

C3 is not involved with Bonnaroo. Shaky Knees could definitely nab all three.

Flaming Lips are out, playing the Tabernacle in early April.

Flaming Lips already have an ATL show scheduled which is coming up soon. Wilco played in 2015, but they have released two albums since that set and have shows booked for Chicago and Knoxville in the early spring.
I didn't say AC was going away. AC is now LN. Superfly is not LN. C3 is LN. C3 > AC. Bonnaroo = C3 and Superfly gave up the talent buying.
Superfly gave up their talent buying to C3 and Livenation? And came out with that undercard in 2016? When did this happen? I know LN is involved with Roo, but C3 handles Roo now too?

This year a couple months ago, somehow LN was able to get a larger controlling part of bonnaroo.

So they are running Bonnaroo, Voodoo, ACL and Lolla, some with c3 some not. Obviously they have other festival properties as well but those are their US signatures. GV has Coachella, Hangout, FYF, Firefly, Buku, Panorama and Camp Flog Naw. They also in conjunction with AEG Live have some sway over Jazz Fest but I'm not exactly sure how that is structured with them and Festival Productions.
