Ryan Adams, LCD Soundsystem, Pinegrove and Cloud Nothings were really, really great. I apologize to @radiatebased for shoving the hell out of him at Cloud Nothings but the pit had to get started somehow.

Ryan Adams Hamilton Leithauser PUP Preoccupations Phoenix LCD Soundsystem The xx Great Peacock Hoops Temples
Or something like that. The xx suffered because I couldn't pay full attention to them. Ryan Adams and Hamilton Leithauser were really close. Hamilton's voice sounded just like the albums.
Random thoughts -Agreed that they need to install some shade structures for the weekend. Large portions of the main stage area had nothing. -Also on board with some additional fast service food vendors. I really love that they have some quality local options but sometimes you don't want to wait as long as it took. Still better than the Central Park year though. -They also need more than one water station. Come on. -The ladyfriend's biggest grip re: food was that they had one coffee vendor in the place. She desperately wanted those stands back from last year as the line at the coffee truck was long as shit sometimes. -The crowds weren't as bad as I expected. Hopefully, they will be back to 4-5 stages next year though. -Security was amazingly lax for the most part. The last day, my guy asked me if I had water in my camelbak. I replied I had some leftover from Saturday, and he proceeded to wave me through. On the other hand, the same lady dismantled the ladyfriend's bag two days in a row and also read this girl the riot act for having an apple with her.
Hamilton was really good. That probably should have been in my top 10. But when every show that you see is really good it's hard to decide. I also had to leave out Wolf Parade, CSH and Temples. It's crazy that PTM was my least favorite show of the weekend. They use to be one of my favorite bands and now they're just a big disappointment to me.
Logistics were so good. I just walked out my hotel and was in the fest in 5 min. Reentry allowed 3x so if there was downtime could come back and shower, drink, whatever. Not that I would, but an option. Bags were searched, technically. Short of a bazooka you could bring anything you wanted into this thing. I am not saying flasks. I am saying you could get a handle in if you wanted. 3 stages and would could get to any of them in 5 min if you walked with purpose. A bit of sound bleed between 2 of the stages unless you were up on the stage – which I almost always was. 30 min max between each stages set times. So if you were waiting at stage for a fav the wait was not at all bad. Firefly is like an hour plus between main stage set times and waiting if painful. This was nothing. Loved it so much
Weather was so good. Despite weather prediction to the contrary the rain held all weekend. For 5 min during Shovels and Rope’s Birmingham I had on a poncho. That’s it. The clouds the first 2 days prevented a lot of sunburn Day 3 was all sun all day.
Kings of Leon pre-show was great. Much better live band than I remember from the 1 short time I saw them before.
Crowds were there late in the day. Before 4;00 you could get up on anything you wanted with no effort at all. If you wanted to be close to the rail for anything including headliners there is no reason that you couldn’t if you were willing to be there 2 acts ahead of time. Cage into LCD was the only clusterf and even that wasn’t horrible if you planned it right
I thought the music was amazing
Best discoveries - The Record Company. 1:00 on Saturday and this was my fav set of the fest. I will be seeing them again. Many times - Anderson East – I wont be going to see them but I don’t know why. Amazing voice over top of horns and the organ - legit talent and some fun songs - The Revivalist – Only caught the last 25 min cause Shovels and Rope – but dear lord I will need to see a full set at some point - Ryan Adams was better than I had even hoped
Best moments - Last 5 songs of LCD – Call the Police was amazing and All my Friends was everything I wanted it to be - Singer from Cage jumping on my head during Teeth - About 3 dif times during Dr Dog – oh def the highest crowd of the fest - The Revivalist with an on point Hey Jude and the crowd rising to the occasion - The Record Company first song and the dude owning the stage with just a mic and a harmonica - FIDLAR covering Weezer Sweeter Song - Bleachers - dealing with early sound issues nicely and then I Wanna Get Better to close, my second fav song of the fest
Slightly disappointed - Shovels and Rope – just cause their 2 person act is much better in a club or small stage. I love em but it doesn’t quite work as well on a vast stage - Cage crowd for not being more nuts. Usually all hell breaks loose at Cage, not this time.
Best looking crowd - The XX. Hair done, tons of glitter, actual wardrobe thought, recently showered
Worst looking crowd - FIDLAR – like the XX except the complete opposite. Oh BTW – shout out to the FIDLAR crowd, you are my people
I give this thing like a 9.8 out of 10. Loved everything. Would have preferred a non XX//Phoenix headliner. Other than that, I thought it was great.
Yo I think I stood & talked next to you during Ryan Adams/Bleachers! I remember you making the best/worst looking crowd joke. I was the "Cloud Nothings" instigator lol
Dude - get it on
I have to say as a guy who goes to Riot Fest and Bamboozle (when they had it) and warped when it is decent and a lot of small club shows for the frenzied crowd - I do need just a little moshing each fest day. Thank you to Fidlar, Cloud Nothing, Car Seat Headrest for providing that on their respective day.
It's crazy that PTM was my least favorite show of the weekend. They use to be one of my favorite bands and now they're just a big disappointment to me.
It was pretty low down there for me too. The setlist was really Evil Friends heavy, and I caught that show multiple times already. Also, they just felt flat to me like they were just going through the motions to get the show done.

I've felt that way for 3 years. I should have went to see Fidlar. We did leave early to see Preoccupations and that was one of my favorite shows off the weekend.

I first saw and heard them at Shaky a few years ago, and still don't listen to them, so I don't have the long term perspective. But, I've watched 3 live sets now and they always keep me interested.

Their new stuff is fine, I just don't like it near as much as their older albums. The biggest problem is the Evil Friends heavy sets. They've been doing it for 4 years now. Before that they had a run of an album a year for about 6 years. Then they put out Evil Friends and pretty much act like the old stuff doesn’t exist. It's honestly the most obvious case of a band changing after signing to a major label that I've ever seen. They fit all of the cliches. But obviously people love it. They're getting more and more popular. It's working. I just don't like it.
P.TM's late night was a lot better than what I saw from them at the festival, they played more In the Mountain In the Cloud and Satanic Satanist.
I figured the late night would be better. Do you know the setlist?
No, it's not on setlist.fm and I'm not good at remembering setlists. I also haven't listened to their albums in awhile. If I remember correctly, they played Floating, And I, Mornings, and Got It All. I know for sure they played Another Brick in the Wall into Purple Yellow Red and Blue, Hip Hop Kids, Atomic Man, Creep in a T-Shirt, Evil Friends, and Someday Believers off of Evil Friends but the rest of their set was older stuff and they played for an hour and a half.

CoS article says 50,000 tickets were sold over 3 days. I know there were 66,000 tickets over the whole festival in 2015. However, the same article says Bleachers > Ryan Adams, so I don't know that I'd trust that.

1. LCD -got into them after they broke up, couldn't see them last year, was such a joyous experience with new songs. They would always be my #1 reason to come here, it could've been them and 49 sets of Marshmello and I'd still come 2. Phoenix -loved loved loved they dusted off Long Distance Call, If I Ever Feel Better and the Love Like a Sunset with teases of Funky Squaredance had me losing my mind 3. FIDLAR -been wanting to see them for years but always seemed to miss them, shit was getting wild at that show. Their cover of Sweater Song replacing every verse with cat "meows" was especially choice 4. Revivalists - So apologies in advance but short story time. First time I saw them was at the Cafe Where Tent Bonnaroo 2013. Still to this day one of the best shows I've ever experienced with no more than 20-30 people there just losing their minds, I quickly became a huge fan. Saw them again in my hometown of St. Petersburg with no more than 30-40 people there around 6 months later, and I've probably seen them another 10-12 times since. I like their new album, certainly not as much jamming as they used to do, but still great and finally getting them some solid mainstream traction. So on Saturday at Shaky looking around at their set (in the rain nonetheless) there were literally thousands of people there singing along and having a great time and ending with Hey Jude was a great move. Anyways, long story short it was kinda like watching one of your little kids grow up, a pretty emotional experience for me. 5. CSH LN - Great show played the few songs I didn't hear and wanted at their fest show\ 6. Whitney - Surprise of the fest, so much fun and a band that really looked like they were having fun up there 7. Cloud Nothings - Saw their LN Friday as well but I liked the fest set more, especially since they crushed "Wasted Days" at the end. 8. J Roddy - Always a fun set 9. Pup - Only saw about 30 minutes to get a good spot for LCD but damn that was fun 10. Mariachi El Bronx - a perfect daytime set at any fest
And to anyone who didn't like PtM's set I agree the first half I saw (before I went to FIDLAR) was pretty meh. BUT I did just see them at a club show a month ago and I can tell you they crush it, they have a killer light/video backdrop show that really needs them to be at night. Although they did play "Feel It Still" twice, exactly the same way both times, which was weird.

Are you referring to the girls walking around in varying forms of bathing suits?...crew got a good laugh out of that one.
A top 10 is tough. I enjoyed so much. And it's tough comparing some of the major acts with some of the smaller ones, but I do have a soft spot for some of the smaller ones that seem so pumped to be there.
1. Car Seat Headrest 2. LCD Soundsystem 3. Run River North 4. Hamilton Leithauser 5. Pinegrove 6. Bleachers 7. Family and Friends 8. Cage the Elephant 9. The Revivalists 10. Sylvan Esso
Honorable Mention to Pond .. I only caught the second half of their set because I was at The Shins. And also Con Brio. Dude can dance, sing and get the crowd going. I had a lot of fun at that set. .. I'm saving Phoenix and Bishop Briggs for Hangout this weekend but I imagine they may have been in my top 10 had I seen them. And I agree about Portugal. It's not that I didn't enjoy it I've just seen most of that show before and that was like 3 or more years ago. I really didn't see anything bad this weekend.

I thought this was the "thinnest" lineup of the past 3 years and was annoyed at how Friday-heavy it was, but I still had a damn good time. Thank you to whoever kept the rain away on Friday.
In no particular order except for #1.
1. LCD 2. Pinegrove LN 3. CSH 4. Temples 5. PUP - Glad I'm not the only one who checked them out 6. Arkells - Much needed energy boost on Sunday 7. Ryan Adams 8. Cloud Nothings 9. Fruit Bats 10. London Souls
Honorable mention to Wolf Parade, RKS, Cloud Nothings.
Was generally disappointed in the Shins, Family & Friends, Twin Peaks.
Arcade Fire - Bon Iver - Flaming lips for 2018, lock it up boys
Also I have no idea who will take the #1 spot if it isn't Arcade Fire
Nine Inch Nails or Gorillaz. Would they book Foo Fighters? Also, the #1 this year was the xx, so I wouldn't be surprised if it was like Arctic Monkeys or something.
Wow what a weekend. My top ten: 1. LCD Soundsystem - One of my favorite shows ever. First time seeing them and it was euphoric. 2. Pond - Damn. These guys better come back to the southeast soon, this set blew me away and was way too short. 3. PUP late night show - Absolutely nuts, PUP is one of my favorite punk bands and this show was everything I could have ever hoped for. 4. The xx - Danced my ass off at this set, it was awesome being front row. 5. Phoenix - This was way better than I was expecting, I like Phoenix but I'm not particularly crazy about them. However, this was fantastic. 6. Nick Murphy - No clue what to expect going into this but ended up loving every second of it. 7. Whitney - Their album was easily one of my favorites last year, it was great to finally get to hear all the songs live. 8. Wolf Parade - Crowd wasn't super into it but I thought it was an excellent set. 9. Sylvan Esso - Second time seeing them and it was even better than the first. 10. Portugal. the Man - Really enjoyed all the jamming, though I agree that the set was way too heavy on Evil Friends.
2018 Mock:
Arcade Fire - Arctic Monkeys - Queens of the Stone Age Iggy Pop - Fleet Foxes - Grizzly Bear - Father John Misty

I'm putting this in the Live Stream thread, but since so many of you loved LCD Soundsystem at this festival, they are doing a free livestream off of YouTube tomorrow night for the Google I/O conference or whatever. They should come on about 9:00 Pacific Time. Details:

I know the email survey lets you put in artists you'd like to see next year. In no particular order:

I'm there. But fit The National and Spoon into there somewhere.
Last thoughts before I shut this one down mentally and move on to Boston Calling
- Phoenix is sneaky good. I cannot say I am a fan - but I thought it was pretty interesting set. - J Roddy is one of my favs, but this is the second time I have seen him at a fest and I like it much less than a club. The all apologies cover was cool though - I am happy to have seen LCD - I don't think the set was as magical as everyone else seems to. I though the last 40 min especially was really good. - I don't even know if bleachers is good - I know they are a good time - I though Ryan Adams would be a lot more tortured - This is a great little festival with a real identity. As much as some people may want diversity in their line-up, I am fine knowing that if I don't know whoever is playing, likely it will fall somewhere in my wheelhouse
Hope for next year - Arcade Fire - The National - I know its a repeat but I wasn't there - Jack White in some form - Royal Blood - Futurebirds - Grace Potter - Japandroids - Sigor Rus - Bon Iver

Grizzly Bear was just announced for the Tabernacle in November. Doesn't rule them out for this festival next year or anything but I thought some of you would want to know that
