Within a span of four years, Phoenix went from a Coachella headliner to a GovBall sub to a GovBall headliner. Their new album must be something reeeally special for them to be upgraded like this.

I absolutely love Phoenix. Alphabetical is one of my all time favorite albums and was pretty much my soundtrack for Junior year of high school. I honestly do not care where they are billed; I am just excited to see them again.
Will be really curious to see who they're billed against and what kind of crowd that pulls. In 2014 their crowd was gigantic as most people don't care about Damian Marley and/or were just camping out for Outkast at that point. Wu-Tang might draw nearly an equal crowd, and Childish could draw even more.
Chance will probably have 80%+ of the crowd at his set, and I'd figure Tool will probably have 60% or more (guessing EDM against them).

REALLY hoping Gambino and Tool don't conflict.
I'd be pretty surprised. The last two years GovBall has had its 4th billed act play the mainstage ahead of a headliner.
To me, Flume or Wiz seem like the obvious counters.

They were really fantastic that year too. Definitely one of my favorite runs of Voidz>Janelle Monae>Phoenix>Outkast

That Janelle set was straight fire. Man she needs to get active again. Also, it was devastating to have Damon Albarn opposite Outkast. Aftershows helped some but not me.

Didn't get a chance to snag early birds, gonna wait this one out. I'm preordering the Nintendo Switch and a couple games next week anyways so I could save the money.
Gambino and Lorde make sense being main stage subs, which is a shame because I feel like both sets need to be seen in the dark.
I agree about the dark factor. The only thing I might be second guessing with Gambino, I thought I heard he and Chance had a beef or something. It could have been heresay but if so they could possibly schedule them on separate days.

They just posted a picture together and have been rumored to be working on a collaborative record for years, so I don't think they have a beef
Please please please please please please please don't put Phoenix and Gambino against each other. Launchy please tell me that won't happen
If he doesn't answer I wouldn't be surprised to see another Reddit AMA this year. That's the time a lot of conflicts were asked/answered about.
I agree I wouldn't want both playing but I feel like I'd go to Gambino. I've seen Phoenix a few times the past few years but have missed out on Childish Gambino and really liked the new album.

I'd only pick Phoenix if they have a new album out by then and its really good. That gambino album is definitely one of my favorites of 2016, and I feel like the live show for it would be wild, especially at night.

I don't think that that is going to be a problem. In the two prior years where GB has had four headliners, they made sure that none of the four headlining acts conflicted. In the cases of the Strokes, 2014, and Florence + The Machine, 2015, they both played the sundown sets on the main stage.

Might make a one day trip for this fest. The lineup as a whole is not worth the expensive trip to New York for my personal tastes, but I'm hoping the day Tool plays has a good undercard.

Wow I was not expecting Donald Glover to actually win a Golden Globe tonight. Thought for sure Veep had that one. Good for him. Totally deserved, Atlanta was amazing.
