Wow I was not expecting Donald Glover to actually win a Golden Globe tonight. Thought for sure Veep had that one. Good for him. Totally deserved, Atlanta was amazing.
And now he won one for best actor too. Congrats on a great 2016 Donglover!

Veep may have hit too close to home this year. Is absolutely one of the best shows on TV though. The pay off at the end of last season was brilliant. Cannot wait to see what the idea is for the next one
Guess Gov Ball is the only east coast Avalanches show? Well unless Boston gets them tomorrow.
Gov Ball's lineup is definitely growing on me. Still prefer Pano by a bit due to my tastes, but when you compare it to the disaster of the 'roo lineup at least Gov Ball has some unique and cool bookings (Air, Avalanches, Beach House, Childish, MRvsKP, WuTang, Zane Lowe)

I think the Roo lineup isnt nearly the disaster people are acting like it is. But I do like Gov Ball better, and I am very happy the crossover isnt out of hand so each fest has its own identity.

I was initially a bit disappointed by Gov Ball's lineup, but it looks much better in retrospect now that Bonnaroo's has dropped.

I actually really like the first line and a few acts spread throughout. My biggest problem is the direction it's going and it's obviously increasing the EDM presence. That's fine, but you're freaking Bonnaroo. You can't go heavy on EDM by adding more acts like Borgore, Getter, and Yellow Claw and still be considered a top notch fest. If you want to keep/recover your reputation by adding EDM, you better get one good/non over-saturated act like Justice, Chemical Bros, or at least something like Shelter.
I did and all it says is "Volunteer info coming soon". I'm wondering if there's a system where you deposit your money and then after the festival you get your money back. Also if there's a pre show, during show, and post show. I saw that Clean Vibes did Gov Ball last year but isn't on the schedule for this year.

I volunteered last year. You do have to deposit money, which you will get back after the festival. I'm honestly not sure if there's a pre show or not. I worked during the day from 2 to 6 I believe. I do know that the shifts are first come first serve and that you will pick them at the same time you submit your deposit.

So is the schedule out when you choose your shift? Bonnaroo will have you pick your top three artists and they try to schedule you around that.

I am unsure of what the program will look like this year.. But in the past they have had preshow and postshow volunteer options; and they did try to take into account which shows you most wanted to see if you volunteered during the fest.
For people interested in volunteering, I'm not sure if they're doing it again this year, but the last couple years they had a program that my friend helped organize where you could log volunteer hours at a soup kitchen/homeless shelter in the area before a certain date and earn a free ticket that way. A little more rewarding than providing LiveNation with free labor, not to knock fest volunteers, because we need them too.

Wow this would be awesome!
Any further info you come across I would be incredibly interested

Yea, please post more about it here if you find out

I don't believe the schedule was out yet. But last year I just knew I mostly wanted to see the headliners and sub headliners, so I picked a shift that ended before the sub headliners started. Was able to see Beck, Jamie xx, The Strokes, Haim, M83, and some of the Killers.
Totally late to the party on the reaction to this as I was across the world getting married so here are some of my stray thoughts:
- Don't understand why Tool was booked this year when last year the promoters felt they "didn't fit the demographic" but whatever, I'm still psyched to see them. The EDM/Hip-Hop opposing headliner will likely still have a bigger draw as Tool is now a legacy act. - Hopefully Beach House plays in the evening. I'm imagining their closing whatever the tent is branded this year. - I love the band but have no idea how Cage The Elephant gets that high of billing. I know they did two Summerstage shows last year but don't know if those sold that well. - Car Seat Headrest will play to a hundred or so bored kids at three in the afternoon - Surprised they allowed Tove Lo to play a Hammerstein show and play this festival a few months later - Feel sorry for Franz Ferdinand appearing so low but I guess that's just a sign of the times changing - Really wish Kaleo was playing this. Missed their Irving Plaza shows last year.
All in all, looks like another good year. Purchased a VIP layaway plan for this and will likely just do GA for Panorama as that likely will not be as crowded.

I have decided I will be attending this festival for the first time this year! I am very excited as I really love the lineup over here. The Bonnaroo lineup was a complete disappointment for my friends and to a lesser degree, to myself.. I was still somewhat interested though as I do love The Farm. But I don't wanna make that trip without my group so... here I am! Excited to see what this fest is all about

Congrats! After the BC lineup, Im very close to locked in for this. Only thing I'm waiting on now is Firefly's lineup. And it's sad because I really wish gov ball was a camping festival.
I went to Gov Ball 1 day last year and was pleasantly surprised. Good landscape and stage set up. The scheduling was as close to perfect as you could get. The food was really good even though it's more expensive than average fest food (usually by a couple bucks). I never had a problem with the crowds although it does skew younger. Overall, if you get a good spot in Astoria like others have said, you'll be in prime spot for easy travel to the fest and easy travel to the aftershows.

Governors Ball has better food than any other festival I have ever been to. That partnership with Infatuation is a godsend. I actually even use the food lineup to plan out my meals like I plan my music schedule.

Also, there are tons of cheap hotel options in Long Island City. This is where I've stayed the last two years and it's simple catching the subway at Queensboro Bridge and over to the 4/5/6 uptown to 125th. That's what I'll be doing again this year.

Thanks, I will! I've got lots of questions but I'm sure I can answer a lot of them with google. I've made a playlist of my favorite acts here and I'm feeling this so much more than the Bonnaroo one I made! I'm sad to miss a year on The Farm but this already feels like the better decision.
