Panorama is a pretty great lineup. Nobody is denying that. Gov Ball this year is pretty great too. The issue was them trying to put Gov Ball out of business. That's not an issue anymore. Gov Ball is sold out for this year; new fest coming in the fall. As long as they don't try to pull any nonsense again (I doubt they will since Gov Ball isn't an indie anymore), then its all good.
Would love if AF/LCD/Kendrick played Gov Ball. LCD members have played Gov Ball multiple times, Kendricks played before. No hate on any of their artists.
I meant no hate on these artists. They are actually some of my favorites as they likely are with most people on this board and I even said that they could absolutely play a couple years down the road. Nor did I say it was a bad lineup (a little to close to Coachella for me to have picked it over GovBall) I just think (not that my opinion matters when it comes to GovBall's booking decisions) that it would be an odd business move. With Panorama on Randall's Island it would just seem like the customer is getting the exact same show they got last year in the exact same location. I kinda meant that NYC is notorious for having festivals fail. Right now it has two major ones and both are VERY similar in the crowd they draw. At least in Chicago, the other fests that aren't Lolla are more niche based. I'm not saying both can't be successful and honestly I hope the best for both festivals I just think that booking headliners that were just at your competitor's fest that is extremely similar to yours is cutting out potential clientele that don't need to see Kendrick or AF on Randall's twice within a year

Gotcha. Well no idea on the answer to that. I think it all depends on their options next year. Huge fan of all three and I wouldn't mind it personally though. But I can see how somebody with a fixed income and attended Panorama this year wouldn't want to see the same show twice.
Frank Ocean is dead to me until he releases new music.
Also, I'm sure he cares a lot about my affection.
i loved Nostalgia Ultra and think Channel Orange isn't as good as people make it out to be so since I'm not a super fan I find it awesome that he is waiting so damn long to release it. It's probably gonna end up being a masterpiece with how much time he's putting into it.

I would imagine Arcade Fire would want to do their own NYC shows after playing a festival this year. If LCD is indeed playing Barclays Center around new years then that would seem to over-saturate the market a bit to come around AGAIN.
Why wouldn't Jay Z be billed that high? He is arguably the biggest name in hip hop of all time and plays stadiums.
I'm saying Gov Ball could bill him that high, but i dont think that he should be #1 on a gov ball lineup. from what we've seen I think they have the ability to book both Jay Z as a two and someone else who is a more deserving 1. my opinion would probably change if he puts out a really successful album before lineup release. I love JAY and his music but Magna Carta was a little meh and by the time GB 2017 rolls around it will of been out for 4 years with no new music. we'll see.

Last 3 1st billed - Outkast, Drake, Kanye Last 3 2nd billed - Jack White, Black Keys, The Strokes
Jay definitely has the stature to be a number 1 here. Could they get Radiohead and Jay Z so he drops to 2nd? Sure thats possible. But he's way more than capable of being first.

ya thats what im saying. Wouldnt be surprised if Gov Ball gave him a #1 booking but I dont see any other major fest giving him that spot.
For you Inforoo NYC-area folks, I have to sell my At The Drive In ticket for Friday's show. Just want face plus fees (what I paid). Catch is you'll have to meet me in the city before Fri for the ticket (it's a hard ticket). Send a message if you'd like it. Cheers,
I dunno if they'd get The Weeknd since he's already playing The Meadows. Maybe if he releases something new between now and then.
I am actually kind of stoked to see The Weeknd. One of those acts I wouldn't see if it wasn't at a festival. The production on his last tour looked pretty cool too:
This would actually get me to go when I'm planning on not going next year. Depends how vastly the Ocean appears and whether he becomes undead to me by that point.

Bring on Eminem. He'd sell a ton of tickets for sure and they are usually pretty good about counter programming. Drake vs MMJ worked out pretty great a few years back. Put him against St. Vincent or Grizzly Bear or Beach House or something; and I'm good.
Not a huge Eminem fan but at the same time I don't hate him. It would be some great middle school nostalgia or as Launchy mentioned they will probably have someone I would rather see against him and I would be able to get a good spot for them seeing as Em is a huge draw
Kind of weird that they have never booked Bassnectar before. Guess he's due sooner or later.
I cant see them not booking him 2017. Dudes always touring and probably isnt terribly expensive to book.
He just had an album come out about a week ago too right? I haven't listened to it yet. A friend of mine says its good. But I am just kind of over him. I'll get around to it eventually I am sure.

Its alright. His music isnt my favorite but I cant say Im not a fan of his live shows

The Madness tour frankly wasn't that great, especially when compared to the Youtube videos of the Kiss Land and King of the Fall tours (which I'm still pissed about for having skipped both). Also hoping that Abel will release better music for The Meadows, but not holding my breath.
