Whether it's your first Bonnaroo or you’re a music festival veteran, we welcome you to Inforoo.
Here you'll find info about artists, rumors, camping tips, and the infamous Roo Clues. Have a look around then create an account and join in the fun. See you at Bonnaroo!!
To be fair, didn't they try this same rule last year and then realized by day two it was a trainwreck and stopped? My point is, this is a stupid rule and I don't see it being enforced. Especially with frozen water bottles. What's the argument for not letting in frozen water bottles? Because liquor can't freeze, so I don't see how they can deny that.
Anyways, I hope everyone has a good time at Roo this year. I'm interested to see how everything goes. It's going to be hot as balls out there, so stay cool and *hydrated*.
About 90% of the "good vibes" crap they slogan on about is just that...a slogan. And it's maddening.
Nah, good vibes all around, yo! It's the Bonnaroo code to grope under your testes to hunt for goodies, dehydrate you by price-gouging all non-sulfuric water, and destroy your campsite decorations (hi SupeЯfuЯЯyanimal !) because... umm... potential PVC pipe bombs?
I'm writing to inquire more about the "no SEALED water bottles being allowed in Centeroo" controversy. Yes, it now has become a controversy.
With temps being in the mid to high 90's for at least two to three days of the festival, how does limiting bringing water in sealed containers help us to stay hydrated?
I have supported you with the price increase this year. I have supported you with an average (or slightly below) lineup this year. I have even bit my tongue on shorter set times this year. I CANNOT, however, support this craziness.
I have packed bottles of water to Centeroo every year I have gone (since 08) with no issues or problems. I wish to keep hydrated. I have seen MANY PEOPLE dehydrated and have to receive medical care because of this. Waiting in MASSIVE LINES to get water to fill up bottles is going to be a nightmare, not to mention the mud fest and people complaining while waiting. I perfer bottled water as well for my health.
Certain chemicals used in tap water in my hometown have caused me to break out in hives before. Can you guarantee this won't happen on the farm? I have to use a water filter at my house or risk getting sick. Will your water be filtered in such a way? Am I supposed to just buy water that is about 2.50-3 a bottle in Centeroo? Does this sound reasonable to you?
Not trying to come off bitter but it's really hard to radiate positivity when you do something like this.

I'd like to point out that in the health and safety section of the Bonnaroo website they encourage two things: 1. pack lots of water and 2. stay hydrated. They say that your health and safety are their number one concern. Really? It seems to me that their profit margin is their number one concern.
It should say "Stay hydrated at your own expense! Purchase ice cold water from one of our fabulous vendors at 12-15 times regular price if you want to stay healthy and hydrated. No money? No problem! Wait in line for a long time for a taste of some yummy sulfur water that is sure to cramp your intestines and give you a good days' worth of diahrea. Good vibes to all!".
I'm so pissed about this! I am usually soooo positive about Roo. Hard to muster the positive vibe. I hope I can catch the vibe once I get there and see all my Roo friends and meet new ones.

Yes it sucks they MAY make you dump out your water, but there is FREE water, no one has been to the farm this year, didn't they install water pipes so water may be cleaner and not egg tasting. No one knows if that will continue this year. And didn't people attempt to enforce this last year and then gave up after day 1?
Plus as far as i know Glow sticks aren't allowed in centeroo and the campgrounds and people seem to get in thousands of those. Pretty sure i've seen a drone before on the farm. And laser pointers but they're everywhere and distracting....
Yeah it does suck, but how many volunteers are actually going to know this rule and enforce it for 4 days...... It's not like they're saying no bringing cases of water in to the campgrounds whatsoever.
Another thing not allowed in centeroo....
"Totems (Must be no taller than 6 feet, and no thicker than 1/2 inch. Must be made of light material: swim noodles, foam type material, cardboard tubes, fabric, paint, string, yarn, light plastic, balloons and/or blow up items. Totems made of wood, metal and/or PVC material will NOT be allowed. This includes flag poles and heavy sticks.) "
Pretty sure there are quite a few totems that break that rule as well.

The point being that I shouldn't have to hide bottles of water to bring in to Centeroo in the first place. At some point, you gotta make a stand. What better place than here, what better time than now?

ya know.. I re-read the website. I think their wording is confusing.
1. what is allowed:
Water bottles or Camelbaks that are EMPTY - I think this means that water bottles are allowed but camelbacks must be empty.
2. What is Not allowed:
Food or drinks, other than water and small snacks (Trail mix, yes. Double cheeseburger, no.) They specify here that water IS allowed in Centeroo. This seems to imply water will be allowed in (in said bottles above).
I know I'm late but this is ridiculous. I have people in my group who don't have camelbacks and their only source of water was going to be bringing in sealed water bottles. I hope for my friends sake this rule is not enforced.

Read the first post in the thread. That's where the madness started.

Hi,
Thanks for reaching out!
Water bottles entering Centeroo need to be empty. There are free water refill stations throughout the festival.
Please let us know if you have any further questions!

Yes, that is how one response came out but I don't think it's crazy to say that in past years there have been uninformed/mistaken people who answer the direct questions/replies via e-mail. I'd be interested to see if more people reached out and got the same response. It's possible this person doesn't know what they're talking about.

Agreed. There has never been consistency on this stuff. Plus they change the rule on the website, but do they plan on telling the volunteers? We know how their communcation is. I plan on having my frozen water bottles on me anyway and will keep going to a different person until they let me in

What are you talking about? They told me once that camping was first come first served and that's exactly how that shit went down.
Seriously though, I was actually thinking on that earlier. I could easily see how someone could read that sentence thinking that "empty" applied to water bottles and Camelbaks.

I get what you're saying but honestly before anyone actually gets on the farm and tries to bring in water bottles for 4 straight days, how do we know this is actually going to be enforced by volunteers? Would not be surprised if after day 1 they just stopped everyone from dumping.
Once again, they added permanent water fixtures and probably improved the water pipes so hopefully it isn't sulfur tasting by day 4, so you're not forced to buy water bottles (like firefly a few years ago). There is still free water within centeroo. I just don't understand why all the commotion when everyone is honestly going to do what they want regardless of what the website says can be brought in.... i.e. glow sticks, laser pointer, totems, alcohol, chairs

Yea, we don't know how informed this person really is. Are they a decision-maker? Or some intern reading off a website? It's like when you call tech support for a computer issue and you can tell that the first person helping you isn't very experienced and is just reading off a script for common issues/solutions.
If multiple people get the same response then that's enough to make me outraged by this. If we find out that it was just one worker who made a mistake then all is well.
Has anyone else sent an e-mail and heard back? I doubt they respond to facebook posts or tweets.

Not to mention, there are water stations fairly close to every main entrance. I walk up with an empty camelbak, get through security, and immediately fill up. Takes 5 minutes.

This will be my 6th straight Roo and the only other time I've seen this in action was 2011. It's like they choose the hottest years to try out this garbage. When you have people consuming large amounts of alcohol and other substances combined 90+ degree heat, the safety risk is simply not worth it. I've seen enough people pass out in tents. Sure, there are the fountains that may or may not be better tasting and more plentiful, but why create more obstacles? People are always rushing off to shows and trying not to break off from their crews.

My feelings are slightly different from others in this thread. If Bonnaroo doesn't want us to bring full water bottles or camelbaks into centeroo, fine. I haven't had to wait longer than a minute or two to fill up at a water station since I started coming back to Roo in 2012. Doesn't really bother me. Would I rather just be allowed to bring in water? Yeah, but the rule itself isn't the most frustrating part.
What's frustrating is the lack of clarity in Bonnaroo's communications. Someone has already mentioned the website, but also looking at the 2016 PDF Map, it states:
No cans or bottles of any kind, food (small snacks ok), alcohol (water ok)...
Just tell me what I need to fucking do Bonnaroo, and I'll do it. I'm a goddamn rule follower, communicate some consistent rules and I will follow them.
Now having said what I said above about the possible "no water" rule not affecting me, it can possibly affect somebody else not as experienced at going to festivals. I'm 34 years old and sober and relatively sane, I've lived on the gulf coast all my life, and when it gets hot I know to drink water. But the 21 year old kid whose partying too hard to feel his dehydration? If he has some icy cold water in his bag he'll automatically take sips, but otherwise he might be too distracted by the music and lights to pause and remember to take care of himself.
Is the above hypothetical kid an unprepared dumbass? Yes, but an unprepared dumbass Bonnaroo should provide every opportunity to be safe.
Guys, I hate to bring this up....but I've camped near a tree that was planted by us as a result of the festivals harsh environment. Hoping they don't enforce a rule like the water one isn't enough.

lines for water were pushing 30 minutes in 2010 and 2011 (last time it was this hot)
