Whether it's your first Bonnaroo or you’re a music festival veteran, we welcome you to Inforoo.
Here you'll find info about artists, rumors, camping tips, and the infamous Roo Clues. Have a look around then create an account and join in the fun. See you at Bonnaroo!!
My feelings are slightly different from others in this thread. If Bonnaroo doesn't want us to bring full water bottles or camelbaks into centeroo, fine. I haven't had to wait longer than a minute or two to fill up at a water station since I started coming back to Roo in 2012. Doesn't really bother me. Would I rather just be allowed to bring in water? Yeah, but the rule itself isn't the most frustrating part.
lines for water were pushing 30 minutes in 2010 and 2011 (last time it was this hot)
That's true but we haven't been on the farm since they've made supposed improvements/additions to the plumbing and water stuff this year. We can hope they did a big improvement and added some more areas but guess we'll have to wait and see the actual end result.
It's annoying when I go to the "contact us" page and it says to read the Frequently Asked Questions before sending an e-mail. I can't find a specific link to a FAQ page so it's not very helpful.
I'm sending an e-mail even though I'm not attending. I want to know if there will be a different response since we're all sort of basing it off of the one e-mail (unless I missed something...let me know if that's the case).
Edit: I missed the part that started this was the "What can you bring into centeroo" section that says "empty". Hopefully it's just a confused worker reading off the list.
I emailed as well. and at 3post1jack1 - the real uncontestable issue here should be this: Those with fast metabolisms and then drink any alcohol during the day can go through two water bottles in a 1hr set. So what reasonable argument is there for this person to not be prepared and have sealed water that they can access, instead of interrupting others and leaving sets early just to obtain water so they don't fall out during a show. You know how stupid people get when they really want to see an act, and folks will wait way out of the boundary of reasonability just to see a full set.

Well put, and I agree. This is the most important issue.
The folks at Reddit are mass emailing too. Would be great if Roo directly addressed the issue.
I am a big water drinker. Last year, I calculated it. I went through over 50 bottles of water by myself.
I am as well, especially since I don't drink. We brought two cases last year and only brought home 4 water bottles, plus I fill my camelback up with ice and water before going into Centeroo. This will definitely not be good for me.

While I normally scoff at all things Reddit....I'm on board with mass contacting.

I get this... but also why can't you just bring your water bottles and fill up 3 at a time or whatever? Why do you only have to fill one water bottle at a time?
The lack of consistency only make me more convinced this won't be enforced or really told to volunteers. I'm all for the email for clarification and even trying to get them to 'remove' the wording on their website. But honestly regardless what they say still just bring full water bottles to the gates. IF enforced, by friday this won't be enforced.
Every year i see a post like "ermahgerd no glow sticks are allowed at bonnaroo anymore, how will people know when the beat drops then" and every year people just ignore it and do what they want.
I don't get the hullabaloo i don't get why this has gone 3 pages, and i don't get why i'm wasting my time posting this.
Here's the big deal chicken2 , the first thing on your mind after standing in a long line to get into Centeroo should not have to be finding a long line to get water. It should be locating your friends and getting to a show.

Yea, that's a big part. The line getting in can be a hassle so having to immediately go and wait in an even more unorganized line is really annoying. I never really liked the setup of the current water stations (the mushroom style ones) with everyone forming a circle around it. There are many other great setups that other festivals have used. I love the refilling stations I saw at Governors Ball and Mountain Jam in previous years, but those were because of the sponsors that were providing them.

Not going to lie a little upset about this. I was pretty mind blown when I went to Movement and they told me I couldn't bring sealed water in. At least Roo doesn't expect me to fill my water bottles up in a bathroom sink though.
The lines for water stations at Bonnaroo are always pretty short compared to other fests I've been too. I can't remember ever waiting more than like 5 minutes for water at Bonnaroo.
They seriously need to take some lessons from Shaky Knees when it comes to refilling water.
How was that set up? Was it one of those refill stations that has workers/volunteers that fill up your bottles with the hose things? The ones I used at Governor's Ball a couple years ago was like that and it was great. Quick/fast service with fresh-tasting, very cold water.
Mountain Jam also had a similar set up but only in one small area (and they didn't advertise/promote it very much) where you went up to the truck/station thing and were able to get a nice clean refill (as opposed to just some hose/faucet water that was primarily for washing).

People don't take advantage of the fact that there are many/multiple refill stations throughout. The one that gets most crowded is the one in the heart of Centeroo by the merch tents. I think that's usually because the majority of folks who show up without looking at the map see that one first and just go back to it by habit. It's much easier to walk past that one and go to one of the other areas.
My lady is on the farm as a volunteer - she told me their staff handbook says that water bottles and Camelbaks filled with water only will be allowed in Centeroo. This is obviously incongruent with what Bonnaroo has stated in the email we're all fired up about, but honestly I feel like the volunteers aren't going to give as nearly as much of a fuck about this as we are.

The big deal is people can and have died at this festival. Eliminating obstacles to staying alive should be a promoters priority.

Thats true, or the one between What and Which right after a big act. I guess I just have always gone onto the next one and there's usually little to no line like you said.

Just because other festivals are more wrong than Bonnaroo doesn't make it ok.

I made no comment on the bottle thing. I'm just saying the way Bonnaroo lays out the fill up stations and how they're circular is actually really good.

We're all annoyed by this possible issue but let's not act like they banned water from Bonnaroo entirely. Even IF the rule ends up being true that you can't bring sealed water/filled camelbak into Centeroo it's not like there will be a dramatic increase in the number of deaths. It would just mean more people annoyingly filling up water at stations or buying from vendors. It would be a big misfire of a rule and I would fight it as much as I could. It's just that we still don't know the full details right now.
No reason getting all worked up until we actually know the truth. Jaz just posted about a volunteer saying that camelbaks and bottles filled with water only would be allowed in so I'd be more likely to believe what the volunteers/handbook are being told than by what the one person who e-mailed said. I fully believe the person who e-mailed back at the beginning of this thread is just misinformed.

Yeah tents with maybe 6 or 8 hoses with volunteers filling it for you. Ice cold water and I never waited for water all weekend.

Nice, yea those are the kind I loved. Bonnaroo should REALLY work on getting a number of those on the farm. Even if they kept the big refill stations and just added these around it'd be a big help.

That's sooooo nasty. WTF?
I know it was silly. Just bought $3 bottled water all weekend. Might not go back because of that and a couple of other things. If I did I think I would just do after parties for the weekend.

I saw that about the volunteer directions. That's awesome. Also annoying that after 15 years they still can't just have one answer to one question.
Sent an email about this yesterday with this information included. No reply as of yet. No consistency and shitty rules. What have you become Bonnaroo? So sad.
ya know.. I re-read the website. I think their wording is confusing.
1. what is allowed:
Water bottles or Camelbaks that are EMPTY - I think this means that water bottles are allowed but camelbacks must be empty.
2. What is Not allowed:
Food or drinks, other than water and small snacks (Trail mix, yes. Double cheeseburger, no.) They specify here that water IS allowed in Centeroo. This seems to imply water will be allowed in (in said bottles above).
Just not quite clear here folks.
On a side note, great job blowing up Ashley Capps' twitter feed. LOL. My personal favorite is by auxximenes. Perhaps if we took only Nestle brand water in it would be allowed?
