Whether it's your first Bonnaroo or you’re a music festival veteran, we welcome you to Inforoo.
Here you'll find info about artists, rumors, camping tips, and the infamous Roo Clues. Have a look around then create an account and join in the fun. See you at Bonnaroo!!
We're all annoyed by this possible issue but let's not act like they banned water from Bonnaroo entirely. Even IF the rule ends up being true that you can't bring sealed water/filled camelbak into Centeroo it's not like there will be a dramatic increase in the number of deaths. It would just mean more people annoyingly filling up water at stations or buying from vendors. It would be a big misfire of a rule and I would fight it as much as I could. It's just that we still don't know the full details right now.
No reason getting all worked up until we actually know the truth. Jaz just posted about a volunteer saying that camelbaks and bottles filled with water only would be allowed in so I'd be more likely to believe what the volunteers/handbook are being told than by what the one person who e-mailed said. I fully believe the person who e-mailed back at the beginning of this thread is just misinformed.
I saw that about the volunteer directions. That's awesome. Also annoying that after 15 years they still can't just have one answer to one question.
Oh I agree. The miscommunication/conflicting information that happens with this fest is insane. There have always been a number of issues that are the direct result from one thing saying this and then workers/volunteers not knowing the rules. The website may say one thing but the workers may not know all of it.
I remember when they advertised the perk of renting a locker meant you could enter Centeroo through the access entry point. That was a big draw for me and I got the locker and then showed up to Roo with clueless volunteers who had no knowledge at all about the rule. I was lucky that I printed out the actual website/screenshot and showed them the rules. It took a little while but eventually they let us through. Point being - there's a lot of clueless people out there since the event is so huge.
I know it was silly. Just bought $3 bottled water all weekend. Might not go back because of that and a couple of other things. If I did I think I would just do after parties for the weekend.
My lady is on the farm as a volunteer - she told me their staff handbook says that water bottles and Camelbaks filled with water only will be allowed in Centeroo. This is obviously incongruent with what Bonnaroo has stated in the email we're all fired up about, but honestly I feel like the volunteers aren't going to give as nearly as much of a fuck about this as we are.

Considering you've found the need to respond to my threads as if you are threatened by me I offer you some peace my confused counterpart. May you find peace in your restless soul.

You you mind telling your lady that we would like a copy of that handbook page. We can scan that mofo in on here and everyone can print out a copy to bring with.

When the fuck did this happen? Why wasn't I told?
We've been dating for a little over two months. I didn't want you to get jealous.

On the main site under festival info -> Entry -> Centeroo -> what is allowed into Centeroo, it says this..."Water bottles or Camelbaks that are EMPTY. (1) factory-sealed full water bottle per person will also be allowed into Centeroo."

They wouldn't need to update their policy if they hadn't changed it in the first place. That's such a bullshit response but it seems like the barrage of complaints/messages about the topic is making them react/respond quickly.

wonder if someone just cleaned that up.
Yea, see Sang's post. They responded to someone on facebook.
Great to see.....still annoying that they were even thinking about changing that, though.

True. Also there's no way all of the volunteers are going to get this memo. Some are still going to make you pour everything out. Some are going to let you bring whatever you want in. Some are actually going to follow the rule. It's never consistent. That and parking is one thing they have never mastered.
Why would having one sealed water bottle be any different than two sealed water bottles?
I think the rule has usually been one. I know I used to always bring two waters with my on my walk into Centeroo. One for the walk from camp and one I left sealed until I got inside.
I imagine if they say "any amount of sealed water bottles" people will bring in a backpack with 20 of them lol.
Does anyone know if they care about bringing in n empty metal flask type bottle (Hydro Flask) or does the container have to be plastic? Will they dump ice without liquid in a container/camelback?

Yeah I always just have a camelback so it doesn't really matter to me, I just don't know why they would care if someone brought in 20 bottles as opposed to 1

We usually take in 5-6 bottles each with us. It's a lot easier than dealing with the lines and nasty water. It's just the last couple years that they started making us pour it out. Yet we bring in mini bottles and wine and never had a problem. Are we going to have to start sneaking water like we do alcohol?

I have went the past 3 years. I usually throw like 6 in my bag and have never had a problem.
I wonder if a sealed gallon jug of water is considered 1 bottle?
on serious note. I volunteer for local org. we get free waters but we have to get them in the General store. I usually carried 4 in with me each time. Granted I was working and never had issues. sometimes ill have 6 on me and give some out to thirsty hot peeps

I just got my response e-mail and it looks like they've updated the e-mail to include the "rule change".
Thanks for reaching out to the Bonnaroo Music & Arts Festival!
We understand your concern regarding the water into Centeroo. The safety of our patrons is our top concern, and our policy is that each patron can bring in (1) factory sealed water bottle as well as any empty water bottles/Camelbaks to refill inside the festival.
There will be plenty of water refill stations with cold, filtered water for you to stay hydrated.
Please let us know any further questions.
So bring in 20 empty bottles and just refill them all at once and you'll be good to go.
they just tweeted: "We heard your concerns and have updated our water policy! One factory sealed water bottle per person will be allowed into Centeroo."
