Tortuga has done some crossover from Country to Rock in years past (Elle King, Avett Brothers, Lynyrd Skyn, Franti & Spearhead, St. Paul, Sublime W/ Rome).
I have a feeling they actually book KOL this year as a headliner due to their sound off newer albums.
I didn't think any other suggested headliners would be at Tortuga and no cross over for sure.. They are too close especially if Okee does proximity clauses.
Arcade Fire - The Killers - Chance The Rapper - Frank Ocean
This would be a good turnout. If you are rolling the Okeechobee dice and this is what comes up, I think you take it. You'd have to assume the second line would be littered with EDM (and the Lumineers), but that's ok. I would assume the second line would be something like:
The Chainsmokers - The Lumineers - Flume - Cage the Elephant
They played in a tent at Firefly 2015 and I waltzed to the front of the soundboard with ease.
I was there too. After a couple songs I just went to the back. Then some random chick came up and started grinding on me. Who thinks that's ok?!? I had to relocate twice haha

Ha yea I was at the back of the tent for that. Honestly I thought that was a really good show.
It was a fun way to end the weekend for sure but it did feel very generic. The coolest part was that they were debuting their new stage production which was a nice added bonus.
Nothing has topped Porter in the tent though . Not even Run The Jewels. Was 3 people back from rail for both.

Honestly I couldn't really enjoy Porter as much as I would have liked. I was on the right side entrance and I couldn't really see. The crowd was kind of shitty too. I remember talking about this before, we had to be pretty close to each other for RTJ. I was off to to the middle/right about 6 rows back.

Yeah I was a little left but I was moving all around because that crowd was crazy. That's a shame about Porter that was definitely my favorite time seeing him (the other time being Moonrise). I was literally front and center and everyone around me were huge fans. I actually have some videos I think.

KOL is not any of the three headliners next year. I also wouldn't expect any headliner not named ZBB to be any type of crossover in future bookings.
I'd be heartbroken if they go more EDM/RAP. Okeechobee is simply amazing.
? ? ? That's 60% of the Top 20 acts. I'm fn lost.
Kendrick, Skrillex and Bassnectar were 3 of the top 4 (75%). Add Odesza and that's 4 of the Top 6 are rap or EDM (67%). Line 3 is 2 of 4 (Future and Miguel). Line 4 has Fetty, Big Grams and Mac Miller (3 of 4). Line 5 has Big Gigantic, Joey Badass and RL Grime (3 of 5). So I have to ask what was the problem with rap and EDM which more or less dominated (along with some rock, folk and indie) Okeechobee 2016??? I have to be missing something.
Sorry I never responded til now. I don't like edm and rap and if they go to being an exclusive edm fest or book less folky or rock bands to make room for more rap sets I'd be sad.
Anyone know about the street team for this fest? Is it like Roos street team? I asked about it on their Facebook page but got no reply and the website says they aren't taking anyone else for the street team but it seems like it was for last year.

I think last year I emailed streetteam@okeechobeefest.com

They're only taking people that did the street team last year is what I was told. That could/will probably change in the future, I didn't ask.

Oh that sucks. Hopefully they will change it. Thanks for the info.

Was it similar to Roos?
I've never been a part of Roos, but it was a point system where you'd earn points through social media posts and handing out flyers at events etc. Then you could exchange the points for a ticket or a VIP ticket if you had enough

RHCP/ Arcade Fire/ J Cole/ Beck/ Major Lazer/ Chance the Rapper/ Flume/ Pretty Lights
really wouldnt have a problem with this, RHCP are pretty meh but ive never seen them so id check them out. J. cole gets a lot of shiz on here, and he is kinda vanilla but he puts on a really good show IMO. major lazer would suck ass, PL would be cool and everything else would be great.

If that's the lineup, Okeechobee will definitely announce itself, kind of like Langerado did back in the day when they brought in REM, Beasties, and Phil Lesh. I would probably assume that would definitely sell out.

That's probably the same thing people before Firefly got Tom Petty and then Paul McCartney. Festivals get bigger, offer legacy acts the money, and then get them.

Those artist had played other festivals before that. Has Fleetwood Max played a festival besides isle of wright? Have they even played a fest in the US?
