My thought process is if they were trying to book both AF and Radiohead, and Radiohead failed, they'll book a #1 of similar price to replace them. Assuming AF (hopefully) doesn't fall through, they would be the #2.
I'm going to go ahead and say this is a best case scenario.
This would be similar to Firefly 2012 -> Firefly 2013: Went from...
Black Keys - The Killers - Jack White
to
RHCP - Tom Petty - Foster the People - Vampire Weekend
Their #1 and #2 in 2013 were more expensive (and better booking to sell tickets) than any of their headliners in 2012.
This would be sooooo far from what I would ever want but I would expect RHCP - J Cole - Kygo as a more realistic top 3. Then Chance is obviously there, Major Lazer has spread to almost all fests llike the plague, The Lumineers are somewhat confirmed so there's the top 2. Last year seemed to have a decent amount of overlap with Roo artists so I wouldn't be surprised to see them dip into the well with a few acts (CHVRCHES). G Eazy is the worst but I was trying to think of another hip hop act to put in that slot that'd also be realistic. I cant get the horrible memories of seeing him live out of my head. The Chainsmokers are also still killing the radio hit so I think A LOT of fests that haven't already gotten them in the last year or two will go after them.
Again, I would be upset with this lineup, just going off of what I know and that is absolutely nothing.

Another factor to consider is potential radius clauses with Ultra. If Ultra wants the Chainsmokers, Kygo, etc. for top spots, I doubt they'd let them play Okeechobee as well.

Serious question: if you're Kygo and you are offered to Headline Okeechobee or get a "top bill" at Ultra yet know you'll probably play at like 6 or 7 o'clock on the main stage, which do you think would be most chosen? Ultra is obviously the grand poo-bah when it comes to EDM (along with EDC) so most guys take it as a huge weekend, but you also have the chance to headline a pretty good size fest that seems to be a hot up-and-comer.
I'm sure most would choose the shitty evening slot on the Utlra main stage, but I'd like to think some artists would jump at Okee instead of Ultra (and then can still go take part in music week).

True. My guess is Okeechobee gets whoever Ultra doesn't. Hopefully that doesn't mean Calvin Harris Also think Arcade Fire may not be happening after all. Just gut feeling. Another stab at it with a few tweaks.
RHCP - The Strokes - Chance the Rapper - The Chainsmokers (or whatever EDM) Childish Gambino - The Lumineers - Noel Gallagher's HFB - Flume Cage the Elephant- Foals - Porter Robinson - Local Natives - Griz - Vince Staples

Honestly Ultra would make more sense than Okee for most big EDM acts. They play huge crowds, their shows are livestreamed, any new songs or collaborations they debut will receive far more press and attention than if they did the same at Okeechobee, etc. They also then get the opportunity to play MMW shows around their Ultra slot. While this is still possible for an act if they're playing Okeechobee, routing multiple shows to an out-of-the-way state like Florida over the span of a mouth may cause more headaches than it's worth.
Also, Kygo is so popular that at this point he'd likely play either the closing or penultimate Main Stage slot at Ultra.

I feel like everybody got overly excited by festie owl's tweet. I still think the lineup will be solid, but just not what you're all dreaming up in your heads. For what it's worth, I am aware that the people working booking for Okee are very enthusiastic, knowledgeable in the industry, and most importantly, music nerds like ourselves. They are trying their darndest to get some great artists and have Okee stand out from other festivals.
Last year this fest had Robert Plant and Hall & Oats in there top 6. They seem to be committed to featuring throwbacks pretty heavily.
Just something to keep in mind because everyones mock on here seems to be:
Generic Rock Headliner/Arcade Fire ~ Logical rap follow up to Kendrick ~ EDM Person
I don't think this fest wants to become Hangout 2.0
While guessing/speculating, it's 10000x harder to find a throwback act that fests have recently billed that high/are still good versus finding any EDM guy that you know will push teen tickets and ultimately make money (hence why if I can't think of somebody to fill a top slot I throw in a big name EDM act). Sadly it's a trend that's been spreading and seems to spread more and more each year.

You also have to believe after those throwback acts received pedestrian crowds last year they took note. Not to say they won't book any throwbacks at all, but they aren't going to be stubborn when the rap/EDM are the money makers.

Strikes out on Radiohead
Books Jonny Greenwood with String Orchestra for the token pre-headlining set that nobody attends because they're all standing in a field mollied out of their minds waiting for Pretty Lights.

The crowd was pretty large for Bob Plant and H2O
Probably all the kids waiting for Bassnectar. In fact, wasn't there a big fuss about that? The kids camping for Nectar were just laying around at the front when folks that actually wanted to listen to Robert Plant were trying to get close and they wouldn't let them near?

At Forest they were 3 deep by noon-thirty. Bassnectar went on at like 12:30 (as in 12 hours later). I still can't get over how infuriated I was.
