just let Excision play the kalliope at 4am then nobody will be allowed to sleep or care about anything else. i don't care that this thread will hate him
and depending on how deep into that costello discography you got, you may have heard him:
or this may sound familiar
Murphy decided to play under a stage name after people came to his shows thinking he was a different and already established musician named Nick Murphy. He settled on the name Chet Faker as an homage to Chet Baker: "I listened to a lot of jazz and I was a big fan of ... the way he sang, when he moved into mainstream singing. He had this really fragile vocal style—this really, broken, close-up and intimate style. The name is kind of just an ode to Chet Baker and the mood of music he used to play—something I would like to at least pay homage to in my own music."[9] Other influences he has cited include Bob Dylan, as well as his mother's Motown albums and his father's "chilled out Ibiza CDs".[9][10]
I'd be shocked if Justice and/or Chet Faker make it on the lineup.
Last year was such a departure from that style of electronic music that I have little faith they'll go for anything much outside of trap/BroDM/Disclosure.
My guess is Major Lazer/Porter Robinson/some awful flavor of the summer act/Phantogram/Empire of the Sun/Bonobo/some random trap act/a few female vocalists with some dude playing poppy beats in the background/XXYYXX for the hometown love.

Never mind, his facebook in July stated he was working on a new album and was going to tour after he finished up that and what not. No update since then though.

Marshmello may be the biggest "shoe-in" of any EDM act. He's fairly cheap and will bring a decent amount of interest from EDM fans. Do you think DOTCOM ever imagined that brand would blow up as quickly and largely as it has? His marketing team all deserve serious Christmas bonuses.

Yeah I've accepted that Mello is an typical trap act with an occasional catchy song (I like "Alone"). The reason I enjoy him more than most trap acts is simply because I love watching him dance around with that bucket on his head. It cracks me up every time.

listening to Marshmello for the first time, his Ultra 2016 set. typical trap act with the occasional catchy/pop song sounds about right. also notable that he frequently talks to the crowd, but not as egregiously as some other similar DJs. also noted its a pretty ADD set, selections rarely seem to last more than 30 seconds. kind of bums me out listening to it.
i do like his aesthetic. just wish the music was better.

I don't know if it's a good or bad thing but based on past expectations I would be ECSTATIC with that top set of acts if we got them.

Also: I saw people bitching on the interwebs about the beat for the new Weeknd song by Daft Punk and I think it sounds a lot like them. People expect Daft Punk to come out with Get Lucky or their robot sounds for their productions for other people and that's never gonna happen. They did Black Skinheads for Kanye and it sounds nothing like their typical sound. I think you get a lot of Tron sounds in the production if you listen closely.

Dude like a dozen people worked on Black Skinheads. Of course it's not going to come out sounding like Get Lucky or Digital Love or whatever.
The new Weeknd song is fine. It sounds just like the stuff he put out on his last album, with a few Daft Punk-y flourishes thrown in.
And it's not like Daft Punk is infallible or whatever. Human After All was pretty garbage, and there's plenty from RAM that just doesn't work.
