HAHAHA! I mean can you imagine if they booked DV & LM? You'd get the most EDM Babies of all time showing up. They've move tickets like hotcakes and it would be the absolute worst crowd ever. I think they are even smart enough not to do that. Now that I think about it, they are NEVER booked at festivals really, they don't even get booked at Ultra.
well then if you wanna talk general electronic music and not Bonnaroo electronic music 2017 predictions, then go to nodepressions bleep bloop discussion thread, then I won't assume you're predicting it since we're in the EDM 2017 thread. You always get snarky with me I don't get it.

It's because the only reason they became anything is their "residency" or whatever the hell it is at Tomorrowland. Every other fest in the world know they can put an ipod on stage for a lot cheaper.

cause that thread is for like obscure German techno and I'm too much of a pleb to contribute.

Give me Kraftwerk, bring back DJ Shadow, Squarepusher, Aphex Twin, bring back MSTRKRFT, bring back Sasha & Digweed, bring back Glitch Mob. So much good EDM that isn't the cheese out there. (Still dreaming of a Portishead into Aphex Twin late night stage....only dreams though).
EDIT: Wouldn't necessarily call all of these bands "EDM", just a majority of real artists instead of that Chainsmokers sh*t. Hell give me Justice over any of the EDM this year.
"That's the big thing about education. People can be book smart, but not really intelligent about anything else. A lot of times they just taking in all this information and regurgitate it. It's much more important to process it and personalize it. To apply it to your world, to your life. You have to walk the walk, or you can't really report about it honestly."

Glitch Mob is on a break now so I don't know if we'd see them back for awhile. They seem to do a decent amount of time between tours/releases since 2/3rds of the guy also do PantyRaid or whatever it's called. MSTRKRFT should definitely be touring next year I think since they have new stuff coming out now. It would be so awesome if they would get like Mark Knight or someone in that would do an extended set during the morning or afternoon and just got people to groove and dance and not so much womp womp. They've gotten good people like that in the past and then they give them a shitty 7pm tent timeslot.
Hippie Sabotage would be a great get for LN. Not sure if they're big enough for that, but I would love to get down with them in a tent at 2am
Maybe a Thursday tent closer? I'd love to see them at Roo too.
My only other EDM wishlist acts would be Justice & Zhu, but I don't listen to a whole lot of EDM anymore. I'd like to check out some newer good stuff though.

I used to be really into the mainstream EDM until it all started to really begin to sound the same and now I rarely even check it out (on put on BPM on my SiriusXM) and have gotten back into the more house, underground and experimental stuff. The subgenres are so much better than the main ones now. It sucks.

Same! A few years ago I went to a lot of local stuff and caught a few bigger shows here and there, but the big womp womp names just don't do it for me anymore. Tiesto, Avicci, Calvin Harris, names like that never interested me at all. The newer stuff like Zedd, Garrix, & Kygo is just terrible IMO. I really like Caribou so whatever genre that is, that's the kinda EDM I can get down with now.

Agree with everything you said.
There are a million Calvin Harris's, why can't there be more Caribou type artists?
Give me Caribou, Four Tet, Nicolas Jaar, James Blake, Panda Bear, etc.
I still can't believe neither Caribou nor Jamie xx got a LN slot last year.

THIS! That was legit criminal. I rocked both albums in my car for months leading up to Bonnaroo and then when I saw they were getting shittzy afternoon slots I couldn't have been more disappointed. It makes absolute zero sense. It's like someone told them it would be a good idea to book them and then they never actually listened to their music so they just threw them into an open slot that they had leftover instead of carefully planning what would make the most sense.

I'm currently listening to James Blake's new album again and I would be terrified that if they booked him they would put him in a Tent when quite frankly, I think his set would be so attended that he would HAVE to be on a stage.

Me too, I think I was so happy that electronic music was finally finally finally catching on in the US that I just ate up everything the EDM genre threw at me. I'll always have a place in my heart for Sonny and Joel but I rarely listen to them anymore. I do think Bassnectar is great though, and will go see him anytime.
But the dance crossover pop acts I just don't care about, like Chainsmokers, Adventure Club, whatever. Or the trap DJs that yell at you a lot during their set.
I think a lot of people around here feel the same and that is why the Lane 8 set was so refreshing and energizing. Real house music is just so refreshing to ears that have been hammered by EDM for years and years.
and god there is a such a humongous world of great electronic music out there.
Does anyone know if Lane 8 ever did that Kalliope set?
Well, it's good to hear we're all on the same page here. Hope Bonnaroo feels the same way.
Caribou late night with some serotonin boosters in the system had the potential to be the greatest show I'd ever been to.
Kicking myself for missing Lane 8.
What other good electronic/house type artists would you guys recommend?
Looking for new or just overall?
New, overall, doesn't matter. I love acts like the ones I mentioned, but I don't have extensive knowledge of these genres.
All I hear are Chainsmokers, Skrillex, Calvin Harris, Hippie Sabotage, etc on the day to day. I'm just craving some more good dance music, whatever sub genre that might fall under.

Well personally I am currently rocking out to the "Arabian Horse" album by GusGus. They are an act that isn't overly big here in the United States but I know they tour a lot overseas. You might like them!

My favorite House/Deep House/Tech House artists as of late are: Solomun, Claptone, MK (Marc Kinchen), Maceo Plex, Motor City Drum Ensemble, Herr Vogel, Leon Vynehall, KiNK.
Check out KiNK Boiler Room Live Set, how he does it is mesmerizing. The Way Back - Solomun Electric Spirit - Claptone Remix Cream - Claptone (samples the opening piano roll in C.R.E.A.M. by Wu Tang Clan) Bring Me To Life - MK My Head is a Jungle - MK Remix My Baby Shoot Me Down - Herr Vogel It's Just (House of Dupree) - Leon Vynehall. Also his new album Rojus is amazing. Solitary Daze - Maceo Plex Motor City Drum Ensemble's Boiler Room, Maceo Plex's, and Solomun's are all fantastic.
Sorry for listing alot but trust me its worth checking out. House and its variations are life to me lately.

They're almost only booked at ID&T/TomorrowWorld festivals because they own them, basically.
