1. LCD Soundsystem - I almost always dance in some form or fashion when I experience shows. This set brought out the most intense dancing I've ever done, and it didn't stop for the entire set. And everyone around me was also dancing wildly. Their music invoked insane energy and emotional euphoria in me. The setlist had all my favorites and the light show topped it off.
2. Blood Orange - Some people are just born performers. Dev Hynes is one of those people. His music is so poppy and funky. I love how he sings about simple topics in a different way than I've ever heard. And then he tops everything off with dance moves and intense guitar solos. My number one most anticipated set did not disappoint at all.
3. Lane 8 - Thank whatever human actually utilized this small schedule spot for a world class DJ and producer. And thankfully I made the incredible decision to wait in that line until I got in (I hate lines). I danced every moment until he stopped that mix.
4. Kamasi Washington - I connected to this performance. All incredible musicians and really thoughtful solos by all of them. Particularly, the second drum solo was one of the most unique drum solos I've ever heard. I love jazz, so it's great to finally see Kamasi.
5. Wet - I made the excellent choice of wandering over to this set after Vulfpeck wasn't really connecting with me. This was some smooth, beautiful minimalist pop. Really powerful, and the light show was incredibly fitting.
Honorable Mentions
Miguel - Such a good performer and sung his heart out. Really glad I finally got to see him.
Con Brio - Brought the funk and outlandish dance moves. Really talented band and a frontman that could hang with the best.
Hundred Waters - I just felt like this was really unique for some reason. Can't really put a finger on it. Also, everyone around me wouldn't stop blabbing about a possible Chance appearance during the set. I kept wondering if anyone was appreciating the set happening in front of them and thinking this is why we can't have nice things.
M83 - Wasn't a big fan going in, but they really impressed me.
Joe Hertler & The Rainbow Seekers - Funky college-rock done right. Just had a blast dancing to this band.
last half of Charles Bradley - It's so great to see older musicians who play their heart out and still have intense passion for what they do. Some of his lyrics and talking struck some serious emotional chords in me, and the band got me moving plenty.
Sidenote: M83 > LCD > Blood Orange > Lane 8 was just glorious. Almost as good as Atomic Bomb > Slayer > D'Angelo last year. Definitely the longest and most intense dancing I ever done in a run of shows. I actually woke up Saturday with sore legs. To put that in perspective, I run 2 miles 4 times a week, work my legs out with weights 1 to 2 times a week, and use a standing desk at my job and at home. I seriously can't remember the last time my legs were sore.
Ronald Bruner Jr. (dude that played that second drum solo during the Kamasi set) is an absolute monster. He's Thundercat's brother actually, but personally I prefer Ronald's musicianship. He's my favorite drummer right now.

2019 Shows: 4/30 - Vampire Weekend 6/28 - Father John Misty & Jason Isbell and the 400 Unit 9/6 - Cardi B w/ Teyana Taylor 9/28 - Vulfpeck w/ The Fearless Flyers
I like this. Sorry I was in a rush on Sunday when I saw you at the Dead there. I had just ran from the left side of the field (left side has bees) to the Status tent and then back. Did you enjoy the dead? I love them because you don't really have to be close and you can just chill with their stuff and float off.
I thought the Dead was alright. I don't regret going or anything, but the show just didn't click with me. To be fair, I am not really familiar with the songs, so I probably lost something since I couldn't appreciate what the changes they made to extend them in the live show.
Exactly how I felt. Didn't stay the whole time (read: not much time at all...) because I knew my body needed sleep much much more than my mind/soul wanted to hear that set.
Considering you've found the need to respond to my threads as if you are threatened by me I offer you some peace my confused counterpart. May you find peace in your restless soul.
1. Bluegrass Situation Superjam- As the Saturday night Superjams become increasingly choreographed celebrity karaoke moments, the "whoever wanders on stage for this song" spirit of the superjam has transferred to the BGS jam. The Watkins' addition as co-curators helped. 2. Jason Isbell- No one is doing it better than Isbell right now. Great songwriting, great stage presence, outstanding instrumental skills. Great set all around. 3. Claypool Lennon Delirium- I'm still not entirely sure what I saw here, but I liked it. I've never taken psychedelics but I think I got the closest I will ever be to experiencing it at this set. 4. Nathaniel Rateliff & the Night Sweats- Great show. Super high energy. Bringing out Leon Bridges for "S.O.B." just anchored it. 5. Bully- Good old fashioned unvarnished punk rock. When you hear the singer's slightly helium speaking voice, it is a shock that she's the same person that can unleash those snarls.

1. LCD Soundsystem: This was the best show I've ever seen. We danced, jumped, swayed, and whatever else for the entire time. Sound was so damn crisp from my favorite stage in the world. Interesting move from a friend of mine during the end of All My Friends: He opts to tackle about 2 other friends out of pure joy and they all scream the final words from the ground. I'm not sure that move would be appreciated by many, but he knew them too well. They view it as the moment of the weekend. The come back at the end of NY was amazing live. Innocuous, Losing my Edge, Dance yourself clean all stood out as well. 10/10
2. Pearl Jam: This was my first time seeing them so I was very happy with the beginners setlist. There were moments where I wondered if it was possible to rock any harder within the confines of their songs. Black > Alive > Free World couldn't have been a better way to end for me. 9/10
3. Natalie Prass: I suppose this is a very odd move. Was anyone else there? The crowd was small. One reason I have it here is because her personality between songs was so natural and funny. Seemed like someone you'd have with you back at camp shooting the shit. But the main reason is that the two song stretch of Violently and My Baby Don't understand Me Anymore got me to well up with tears for the first time from live music. I'm just not a crier. I've come close before, but she did the trick. Bird of Prey was omitted, but I actually don't think that's her best song. 8/10
4. Lane 8: I feel bad putting this so high up because I missed half of it. However, most of the shows were only 1 hour this year anyways. I can not believe how much dancing I did after that day and night. This music was simultaneously energizing and relaxing. Smooth and hyped. I think I kept bumping into some of you throughout the weekend by the way. Because all the lower profile shows had the same people at them. Dance a shitload/10
5. Father John Misty: What a great showman. I was really pleased with the setlist. The way he dominated Nothing Ever Happens and Holy Shit I will never forget. Fun Times in Babylon is huge for me as well. 8/10
6. Ween: The setlist here was phenomenal for me. Roses are Free, Take Me Away, and Happy Colored Marbles were my highlights. 8/10
7. Tame Impala: Despite not reaching lofty expectations, this was a great time. Their score does get a massive boost due to such a great setlist that they've been doing for the last year. Light show and confetti were awesome. 7.75/10
8. Lizzo: I thought this was the best Thursday show and the best hip-hop show all weekend. So much fun all the way through. DJ and dancers were great. Random playing of Panda in the middle of the set was an awesome move out of nowhere. 7.75/10
9. Fidlar: This might have been the craziest show I've been to. Mainly because of the heat and conditions of camping at Roo. Loved when cheap beer came on and all the PBR started getting sprayed everywhere. They sounded great and played a great setlist. Sabotoge > Cheap Beer was definitely the highlight. 7.75/10
10. Cymande: Love these guys. The setlist was incredible. Exactly what I wanted. The only song from the new album they played was extremely relevant to the Orlando shootings from the night before and went over well with the crowd. 7.5/10
11. Dead & Co: This isn't a real ranking. I was purposely getting obliterated and dancing with my friends for the last time of the weekend. They basically soundtracked my final night and I didn't give them enough attention to feel comfortable ranking it with the rest. I just know that they sounded great and at many moments they sounded better than anything else throughout the weekend. The setlist was for beginners much like Pearl Jam, but this was my first Dead show, so I liked that. Drunk/10
HM: Band of Horses, Charles Bradley partial, Death Cab partial, Polyenso,
Good but forgettable shows: Papadosio, Con Brio, CHVCHES, Leon Bridges,

I was 90% sure I saw you in the pit and was like hey I'm pretty sure that's the dude I watched Kanye from the pit with a few years back. But I was in a weird state of mind and wasn't totally sure. Lol now I know it was you. Best show of the weekend no doubt.

So basically we're getting to the point where we are figuring out that the entire left pit was Inforoo, right?

I was actually center pit. So maybe All My Friends inspired multiple tackling drills?

1) LCD Soundsystem - What else is there to say? I was starting to worry there was no way this could live up to my expectations, they are one of my favorites ever and I had never gotten the chance to see them, but it ended up exceeding anything I dreamed of. The pit was easily the most fun of the weekend, I was in the back of the pit up against the barrier with tons of room to jump around and it provided such a good look at everyone else losing their minds. Just a great experience, killer sound and visuals as well.
2) Lettuce - Great funky set that was perfect to dance to. I also met the best people of the weekend at this, everybody was into it and dancing and having a giant party. The crowd around me definitely elevates this one, it was tons of fun.
3) Vulfpeck - Had a great spot for this just a few feet off the rail and they sounded great. Great sing a longs and energy
4) Chris Stapleton - This was the surprise of the weekend for me. Wasn't familiar with him at all and only went because my girlfriend was really excited to see him. It was so hot out there but it was relaxing and enjoyable.
5) Dead & Company - Perfect close to the weekend. Yeah they played the hits, but it still was a great way to end. I was really impressed with Mayer, Donna Jean was a very nice surprise, everything they played sounded great.
Not Ranked - Pearl Jam - I could easily put this 1st or 2nd, but I never know what to say about Pearl Jam shows anymore, I really enjoy them all. They've been my favorite band since I was 13 and first saw them, and I have been extremely fortunate to see them 26 times now. I'm very happy I finally got to see them at my favorite festival.

There's a center pit? I just thought there was left and right.
There's actually just one huge pit, but they trade off letting people in on the right with letting in people on the left (and the left line is always shorter than the right). Most will just get a spot on the side they came in from.

Rummy 500 you should have come to Natalie Prass! it was like me and Shuck and maybe a couple hundred people. You could have walked up almost to the rail and sat down and enjoyed it.

I posted this in the LCD thread, that it was all Inforoo on the left half. ZIG and I got in line during J. Cole, no other Inforoosters in sight, and when we got situated, we realized that we were surrounded by like 15 other Inforoo folks. It was amazing.

don't make me feel sadder than I already am for missing it. I fucked up but entirely blame the heat. I was just trying super hard to conserve energy and not get sunburnt etc etc

Were you guys up front slightly to the right?
Shuck was more in the front than I was; when the set ended he turned around and almost literally walked into me. But yeah somewhat on the middle-right side, pretty close.

I hear you. It was for sure a struggle with the heat all weekend for me too, which is why I did my best to see no What/Which shows before like, 5 or 6pm unless I was dead set on seeing someone.

Yeah, I walked past the line and ran into Rothric. I talked to him for a minute and held his place while he hit the bathroom. I decided to head back into the field to meet up with the ladyfriend. Almost immediately upon heading that way, I ran into Doctor Doctor but kept going. I then ran into custeph, beebee, shuck and others. At that point, I decided it was meant for me to go for the pit. Best decision ever.

This was like my experience leaving the pit. I just kept seeing people I knew and getting excited that they had just experienced what I had just experienced.

I had only listened to a little Natalie Prass before Roo, but I liked what I had heard and I knew this set would also be sparse with ubiquitous shade which is pretty essential on Saturday afternoon for me. She was amazing! My wife hadn't listened to her at all before Roo and says it was one of her favorite sets.
I think I was the only person to vote for Natalie Prass in Album of the Month when her album came out.
Glad people are starting to come around!
I know her from her time spent touring (& cuddling) with my man Ryan. I wanted to see her set, but when I got over to the tent I saw that the platform was in full sun. I was feeling pretty rough at that moment, so I walked in with G & o'neil & only stayed for a song or two. Hopefully I'll have a chance to see her again.

So glad you did was so lovely to look back while I was dancing and singing along loudly to LCD, to see your face + those of all the other inforoosters who were in our little cluster in middle of the pit. Made the show all that much better

Damn was definitely in there with all of you.... but don't know any of your faces to recognize. Glad we all had an amazing time though. Destroyed my voice after this concert.
Sorry to the guy in front of me who had that awesome one legged stool he was sitting on, definitely was screaming in his ear, i hope that wasn't one of you guys, and if it was, again my bad.
1. Papadosio- Beautiful crowd, beautiful sunset, beautiful set. Perfect way to start Roo 2. Tame Impala- Getting rained on by confetti and seeing my favorite band in the pit on my birthday 3. M83- in the pit with a girl I met, also on my 18th birthday, not much more of an explanation is needed. 4. Dead & Co.- hearing Drums, Casey Jones, Tennessee Jed and Touch of Grey live while laid up in the back with that same girl was really special. Fire on the Mountain took me back to the Skrillex Superjam. 5. Hermitude- wasn't expecting much but man did they deliver. I was on the rail for this set.
HM: Zeds Dead- I had been wanting to see them for years, they were one of the first electronic artists I listened to back in middle and on through high school. I caught the last 30 mins of their set after Tame and made my way about 10 people from the front (sorry if I pushed anyone or came off rude the guy behind me was pushing me insisting that I kept a train moving to the front and I couldn't say no.)

1. LCD Soundsystem - Much like everyone else I had high expectations and I was absolutely blown away! My group and I were towards the back of the What field for this one. Only one other person I was with was as stoked for LCD as I was and we danced our asses off, despite being tired as hell. The setlist was fantastic, we kept giggling whenever James would talk to the audience and say "Hi everyone!" (dunno why that tickled us so but it did hah) and it was the perfect way to kick off the late night stuff.
2. Dead & Co. - When I found out about the Orlando shooting it really shook me as a member of the LGBTQ community. It was in the back of my mind all day on Sunday and it was so surreal to be surrounded by so many loving and positive people and then find out about such a tragedy. Seeing Dead & Co's logo with the pride flag immediately made me weep. The words spoken that evening were exactly what I needed to hear, and it was such a powerful moment for me. Besides that, the performance was absolutely amazing. John Mayer fucking crushed it and I have definitely been listening to GD a lot since I got back home.
3. Oh Wonder - I don't know why the hell this tent was so empty, but this was the best undercard show of the year for me, hands down. Everyone was singing along, the band was so thankful for everyone who showed up and they were so happy, they fed off of the energy of the crowd and gave it right back to us. I cried so so many tears during this set. It was just my best friend and I at this one and we were extremely close. I was absolutely blown away, and I will never miss a performance by them whenever they are around. I came into the show as a fan, I left as a huge fan.
4. M83 - Checking this out right before LCD was amazing! The stage setup was so cool and I couldn't have put together a more ideal setlist for me if I could have tried! I was really hoping to hear the Mai Lan songs and I was not disappointed. I loved the huge crowd and all the lights and totems and the general energy.
5. Big Grams - This is high up because it was the only set where my whole group and I had a great spot and were all high energy and dancing our asses off. We met some great people in the crowd we were all feeling amazing. One of the funnest shows of the year for me for sure.
6. CHVRCHES (pit) - One of my only pit shows this year, and I went in with slightly lowered expectations because although I am a huge fan of their studio work, videos and streams of their performances left me less than impressed. However, I was stunned because I thought Lauren sounded great! I was so excited to hear High Enough To Carry You Over because that's one of my favorites. I was bummed they didn't play Tether though, because that's what I was most looking forward to! But the fifteen year old in me who never got to see Paramore grinned when Hayley Williams came out, so that was kinda cool.
7. Two Door Cinema Club - It was my first time seeing these guys and they are one of my favorites, so this was a blast for me! The energy was awesome, the setlist was great, they sounded on point, and I loved the new song they played! It was very different from their other stuff but I thought it was really fantastic.
8. Hinds - After a bumpy start due to some issues at The Who Stage, the technical issues were resolved we were rewarded for waiting! These girls were so cute, and they were so excited at the turnout they had. They sounded absolutely amazing, they brought the energy and the crowd loved it! Their album is still one of my favorites of the year and I was really anticipating this show, and I couldn't have been more pleased!
9. Lizzo - Holy shit, what a blast! Her DJ's set before the show started was dope, the choreography and dancers were fantastic, and Lizzo killed her performance! I love her positive message and thought she was such a great fit for the Bonnaroo vibe. I caught the first few Marian Hill songs before heading to Lizzo and I was glad I made that decision!
10. Hundred Waters - This performance left me truly floored! I wasn't even planning on going, but my sister wanted to meet her friend there so I went with her before Hinds. I only caught about half of the set, but I was beyond impressed. I'm gonna try to catch another show when I get the chance!
11. Tame Impala - Underwhelming, but still good! I loved the songs they did play, although I did wish for a little more. However, it was sort of a blessing in disguise because as I was getting pretty tired and I dunno if I would have made it to 3 haha. Standout moments for me were Let It Happen, Why Won't They Talk To Me, Yes I'm Changing, Elephant, Eventually, and of course Brand New Person.
12. Death Cab For Cutie - The only reason this is towards the bottom of my list is because I've been to full DCFC shows before and that is far superior to an hour long set. But, this was still so good and so much fun. I cried a couple times and it was just me and my sister at this one, which was chill. We were right behind the pit and had our feet in the sand which felt amazing on Sunday haha. They brought the energy, which I wasn't really expecting, so that I was nice. The parachutes going around were cool too!
13. St. Lucia (pit) - This was my first pit show at Roo (none last year) and I bought a water bottle of apple cider moonshine off of this old country lady about 20 minutes before getting in line. I usually don't drink at all, much less during the day at Roo, but for whatever reason I was feeling frisky. Anyways I have a super low alcohol tolerance level and let me tell ya, five swigs off that bad boy and I was toasted. I partied my ass of in the pit while the rest of my group sat beneath a shaded tree at the back of the field. I may have also cried at this set during I Wanna Love Someone, and I could blame it on the moonshine but tbh I'd have done it anyways. I had a lot of fun here though!
14. J. Cole - I wasn't even gonna go to this set but my sister wanted a buddy for this show so I tagged along, and he actually really impressed me! I'm still not a huge fan, but I gotta give the dude his respect. Chance's appearance was amazing though, I lost my shit when I heard No Problems start up. It was the only one I caught so it was cool to be there for one of those. Really really hoping he comes to Roo 2017 for a full set because that was like a morsel of an appetizer.

Overall I give this year all the thumbs up and red 100 emojis. My group and I were a lot more prepared versus last year, we got a way better camping spot (Pod 3 baby!), I did a lot more non-music wise that I didn't do last year (lots of Grove hangouts, fountain frolicking, partying in general), we had a better group overall, our neighbors were way cooler, no security issues whatsoever, I saw more shows... literally none of us had one bad thing to say about this year. For my personal experience this blew last year out of the water for me and I am already sooo stoked for the Roo Cycle to start back over.
