I also enjoyed The Knocks but they are definitely a year or two away from breaking. They really need a full band on stage to do their songs justice live but I fully expect them to figure it out and then blow up real fast.

Time to reflect without recency bias:
1) LCD Soundsystem Sonically and emotionally perfect show, even from the back 2) Kamasi Washington He blew the roof off of bonnaroo. Scratching solo, drum-off, face melting sax. And his dad was a great addition 3) M83 Beautiful show to kick off probably my favorite night of bonnaroo ever 4) Dead and Co Pit, crowd was so passionate, more drugs then I've ever seen consumed in my life, basically a Dead for beginners set and Franklins Tower was maybe my favorite song played all weekend 5) Allen Stone What stage opener, the soul that man has is electric. So fun dancing in the pit introducing my newbie friends to the scale of the What stage
Cherub: First Ave - 2/26/2016 - Less about the music. Brought a friend with me to the show and she had the time of her life at it.
Umphrey's McGee: First Ave - 4/30/2016 -Closing night of a 3 night run at First Ave. They played a double encore and the crows was just nuts the entire show.
LCD Soundsystem: Bonnaroo - 6/10/2016 - Everything I had hoped and dream this show would be. Being in the pit was magical.
Bob Iver: Eaux Claires - 8/13/2016 - Great seeing new music played for the first time. Show and atmosphere were amazing. New versions of a few older songs topped off the end of the set.

Just grabbed Tier 1 tickets, time to relive a little bit of 2016
LCD Soundsystem - Stayed at Flux Capacitor which ran directly into LCD but made the sacrifice, got a beer, and walked up to the right side of the What stage during Us vs. Them. Each song, the crowd in front of us thinned so there was tons of space to dance and we ended up a few rows behind the pit guard rail when all was said and done. I had never seen LCD before and was recently just getting into their discography but their live performance took them to another level. My buddy had seen 'em at MSG on their farewell run, but both of us were in agreement by the end of the festival that this was easily the best show we saw.
Flux Capacitor - As mentioned above, stayed at this set because they were dominating. Played on the Who stage which I hadn't seen a show at since it was the Sonic stage, so it was cool to be back there, plus we got there early and waited on the rail for front row. They prefaced the show saying (I'm paraphrasing) "10 years ago, 3 brothers went to Bonnaroo and vowed to one day return and play. That night is tonight," which was pretty epic, definitely something we've all thought about while attending and they actually did it. They opened with Unite which was my favorite song going in, and then cruised through the set list and ended with an epic final jam. They needed a longer set, they could've dominated a late night/sunrise tent.
Dungen - Surprise set of the weekend. Not very well attended so it was easy to get up close, knew a couple songs from lineup exploration and gave them a shot. They didn't even play the songs I wanted to hear but I was still blown away. They jammed out on a couple tracks just as well as anyone I've seen on the Farm, looked like they really enjoyed themselves, and the crowd did too. They were great.
GriZ - He wasn't really on my radar until me and couple guys played poker and threw his discography on. He can have the "William Onyeabor Funkiest Set of the Year Award" for 2016, his set was non-stop great. Walked in from the left side of the Which and it was impossible not to dance around and have fun like everyone was doing. There wasn't one person I could see that was having any less fun then the person next to them. I didn't venture all the way into the main crowd but even a few feet back of that was good enough. Great Set.
The Record Company - This was an excellent late addition to the lineup (I was pretty disappointed when they weren't on the original lineup) and probably my most anticipated act of the festival heading in. They played on the Miller Lite stage which I hadn't been to before but got there early and grabbed front row in front of the bassist. They put on a great show, me and my buddy knew the songs, sounded great live, all in all a really good set. Duration was pretty short which sucked, and I think they got pressed for time a little bit when the bassist busted a string, but it was definitely a top 5 set. On a more recent note, saw them in Michigan about a month ago and they are tons better now then they were at Bonnaroo. I don't know if they've been playing together long enough that they can improvise a little more or if the Bonnaroo set was too short for them to actually rock out a little bit, whichever it was, they are a much better band now, really fun to see considering they're still playing pretty small venues.
HM: FIDLAR & Saint Motel - Very different acts but both had the crowd in their hand right from the get go. FIDLAR opened with a Sabotage cover which got everyone going nuts, and it spawned a mosh pit which was tight to watch. Saint Motel just came out and went right to work, everyone in the crowd was moving and they knew it. They have a very infectious musical style and to see them do it live was a lot of fun.
