I'm starting to get very annoyed with all these Fall booking conflicts already... I mean, c'mon, there's 5 artists I really really want to go see over just 2 random weekdays at the end of September.
9/7 Low Cut Connie vs Ted Leo 9/26 Matt & Kim vs Janelle Monae vs Jungle 9/27 Kennyhoopla vs Royal Blood 11/18 Deer Tick vs The Hotelier (going to the 11/19 Hotelier show but my friends are all gonna go Saturday without me which hurts)
LCC is playing in Pawtucket also
yeah, i think i'm out of town that weekend or else i would entertain that idea
Dunno when these were announced but Godspeed You! Black Emperor will play the Palladium Worcester September 10 and Portsmouth NH Music Hall September 11. Might try to go to the former but going to wait a bit to decide

I want to say it was two weeks ago.
I follow the Palladium on FB, so I know it exists. I just didn't get a ticket yet.
NICE, a fest dropped its schedule today. There are more conflicts between similar artists than there were last year and even more instances where a set ends in one venue and a similar artist starts at the exact same time at the other venue. Still, it's a much shorter walk than Red/Green to Blue and visa versa.
The biggest surprise was that Swirlies and Beeef are playing at the same time. I had imagined a straight shot of shoegaze and power pop at Crystal, but that isn't happening.
Yesterday at Levitate, Goose said that 2 of the blurred dates on their fall tour (9/13-14) are Boston shows. Didn't say what venue, but it looks likely that they'll be at the Pavilion. I'd guess we get a proper announcement this week.

I had a feeling that they were Boston shows, since Levitate was close enough to trigger a radius clause.
It's got to be the 13th for me, or nothing, since Peter Gabriel is the 14th. I'm wondering if the shows might be at Suffolk Downs, since they played an AEG venue last time they were in town. Given their newfound popularity, the 8K capacity there would make more fans happy than the 5K pavilion.
Suffolk Downs also makes sense since the two day Breakaway Fest is on the 15th and 16th. Since they're not running shows there regularly this year, they could simply get whatever personnel infrastructure is in place for Friday and Saturday (security, cleanup crews, ticket takers, merch team, etc.) to work the two previous days, as well. That's win-win for everybody - fans are more likely to land tickets at Suffolk than on the harbor, and it's two extra days of pay for the people working there that week.
Unless, of course, by "Boston," they mean Mansfield, MA. Both nights at the shed are now open. Both nights are free at the pavilion, too.
Would have preferred Mansfield. But then again, already saw them at Roadrunner a few months ago.
i've never heard anyone in my life ever actually wish a show was in mansfield, haha. god i hate that place (not the venue itself necessarily, just all of the logistics involved with actually going there)
september is too busy with shows. ugh. i bailed on re:set last month so now i'm definitely going to that boygenius show, which means i'll have shows mon/tue/wed that week, and tue/wed/thu the prior week
and John Craigie just announced a sinclair show 9/14 and he's great, so maybe i only go to 1 night of Goose. tough call.
Boiler Room Boston is happening again Sept 2. Surprised they're having it here again so soon, hope it goes better than last year. Won't be in town for it myself though. Tickets on sale Friday 10am

It's more of location than actually being a good venue. I live near Providence and work in Foxboro. Compared to going all the way to Boston, Mansfield is right around the corner.

I caught a couple of acts that the ONCE Somerville shindig at Boynton Yards today, and they moved their shows to a space adjacent to the old one, with 3-4 times more room, with a large area in front of the stage, astroturfed area behind that with a bunch of games, two banks of porta-potties, and additional space for four food truck.
I wish they were doing a full slate of shows there like they did the last two years, because the new space is so much nicer.

This video provides a great look at the new Boynton Yards space:
In case you didn't see this in the Boston area free show thread, EarthGang has been added to the big STL GLD free fest at City Hall Plaza tomorrow. And it's free!!
I, too, am bummed that Ted Leo is the same night as Low Cut Connie... Definitelyyy going to LCC, though. Sorry, TL/Rx.
Even though I already have my LCC ticket, it's the reverse for me. Low Cut Connie is so incredibly entertaining, but Ted Leo has so many songs that get to me on an emotional level, in a way that Adam Weiner's songs don't.
Plus, I still regret missing TL/Rx playing my favorite album of theirs, Hearts Of Oak, in its entirety at Brighton Music Hall in 2018 because I opted for the Paul Simon farewell tour at the Garden instead. (John Prine and The Posies were also doing their own shows in town that night. That was ridiculous.)
The funniest TL-related conflict happened years ago when the Paradise was doing shows in their smaller front room alongside shows in their larger main room. One evening, TL/Rx were playing in the main room while Catherine Wheel lead singer Rob Dickinson (yes, he's related to Iron Maiden's Bruce Dickinson...they're first cousins) performed in the front room. I wound up staying home because it would have felt too weird to have seen one and missed the other one playing immediately next door. The distance between the rooms was roughly the length of the double-wide Tasty Burger booth at Boston Calling.
Even Ted Leo is unhappy with all of the conflicts.
I'm now strongly leaning towards Low Cut Connie, with the addition of Fantastic Cat as opener. Since TL lives in Providence, he'll be back soon enough, plus I'm just in more of an LCC mood right now. I love three of the four songs I've heard from the forthcoming album (which won't be released until a couple of hours after the show ends.)
Ezra Furman doing the first Tuesday of Oct, Nov, & Dec at the Rockwell, promoted by ONCE Somerville. She recently announced her retirement from active touring, with only the Boston area shows anticipated for now.
