Setting aside my personal preference for shows accessible via MBTA, there are a ton of college students living inside the Rt. 128 beltway who don't have cars. Building the 15K-ish amphitheater designed to serve the Boston area in Mansfield years ago wasn't a great idea.
Surprise, LiveNation just dropped what appears to be a "Boston only" all-in sale (the page references "Crossroads Presents"). It's not a fixed price sale like the summer $25 all-in, but tickets start at $18 for some shows. This happens through Sunday evening, but like the usual all-in sale, I'd expect the allotment of discounted tickets to be limited for each show.

i listen to a bunch of bands that are kinda like these bands, but not enough of these specific bands to actually care/go to this. wish i did.
i casually like soccer mommy, fiddlehead, militarie gun, anxious, and dazy. haven't really ever listened to the rest.
It's like a decent Boston Calling lineup without the top, second, and third lines. I wonder, though, if they're going to waive the no-readmission rule, given that both days start in the early afternoon and run late. Also, the dining options aren't great, even if they do let you out...and Mainely Burgers and Crumbl aren't even open on Sundays. That food stand in the venue isn't going to be able to make enough empanadas to feed everybody and who wants to eat nothing else for two days? The weather is always an X factor. It might be fine, but it could be very bad that time of year.
I'm trying to get away from seeing bands just to make up for the pandemic. I'd rather see the ones that I really want to see. Ovlov is the only name on the poster that I'd pay to see just for them, and they're based in CT and Boston and play around here often enough. There's not one other act on the poster that I'd pay to see, although a lot that I'd probably enjoy in a festival setting. My immediate "I gotta go" gut reaction was just a lot of "New Boston Festival, Who Dis?" energy, centered at a venue I really like.
I asked Roadrunner on a social channel, they said that there will be re-entry up until a certain time each day. They didn't answer my question about whether there will be additional food options inside the venue during the festival.
The Something In The Way tickets went on sale as one day tickets only, and Saturday's looking very tempting to me. I didn't know a thing about Balance and Composure, but it only took 30 seconds or so of melodic shoegaze to sell me on them, Ovlov, Enumclaw, and Soccer Mommy. If they don't sell out by fee free Friday at The Sinclair box office, I'm there.
You know how Ticketmaster generally doesn't turn on resale if a show doesn't sell out? Well, somebody gets to benefit from that. I'm giving away one free ticket to Hotline TNT/Disq Sunday night.
I'll spare you the details, but I've just lived through an incredibly eventful 10 days in which a lot of big things happened to me and around me -- good and bad -- and I feel like I'm just starting to regain my...wait for it...balance and composure. The last thing I want to do is go out tomorrow night. If anybody wants a free ticket, DM me here. I'll check on Sunday morning and whomever DMs first and includes their Ticketmaster email address gets it.
It's not definite, but I'm probably going to do the same with Thursday's Lemon Twigs show. I've already made an acupuncture appointment for that evening, so a post-treatment rock show probably isn't a great idea. I'll see if I can sell it on TM in a couple of days and, if that's not allowed for this show, either, I'll likely offer that one up, too.
The Columbus was my favorite venue in Providence, so wouldn't mind seeing shows there again.
Aren't they also the owners of The Wilbur and Chevalier Theater? Bill Blumenreich, I believe. (Couldn't actually access the article, got an error message).
If that's the case, I'd expect them to book a lot of acts in Boston/Medford and Providence as consecutive tour stops.
