All of a sudden, many shows in the Boston area are being announced for late Summer and early Fall, including TD Garden, House of Blues, Orpheum Theater, and Leader Bank Pavilion shows (Rockland Trust Bank Pavilion, we hardly knew ye.)
It's time to start paying attention to venue and promoter social media channels again, and be on the lookout for the usual Do617 and radio station website ticket giveaways.
The fact that all of the New England states are in the top 10 for percentage of the population vaccinated makes booking tour dates in this region a safer bet than shows in states much slower to rollout the vaccines.

Problem is, CT/MA/NH/RI are also among the 10 states with the highest rates of Covid atm.
I was surprised to see shows at Sinclair getting booked as early as August 6-7 (Springsteen cover band that i usually see there every year) but hopefully everything works out that allows shows to happen that soon.
Much less surprised to see all the September/October announcements popping up. I already have tickets for 7 shows this year! More than the 6 I managed to go to in 2020 before everything locked down. Can't wait to get back to "normal."

Supposedly, the governor's latest edict opens up all businesses for everything, including crowded concerts, as of Aug 1. The city of Boston, proper, is on a slightly slower timetable, opening everything up later, on Aug 22.
Still, both LiveNation and Bowery Boston have a very small handful of shows scheduled at indoor venues in June and July. As of right now, there is one June show on The Sinclair calendar.
Even though I'm going to be fully vaccinated by the end of May, I want to see daily numbers down in the low-to-mid hundreds for Massachusetts before I buy a bunch of tickets.

Bowery didn't manage anything bigger than Royale/anything that could compete with HOB, so this makes sense.
Not a huge fan of the name, and very much not a fan of the location. It's not T-accessible at all over there. I know the powers that be want Boston Landing to be the next fun neighborhood but really it's just going to be Assembly Row South, but without a T stop.

I'm pretty sure the 86 bus that runs between Harvard Square and Cleveland Circle goes right past there, or within a couple of blocks.
It's not one of the bus lines that picks up in the station bus malls. They pick up passengers at...get ready for it...Dawes Island, right across the street from Charlie's Kitchen.
Prediction -- the Boston/Cambridge area will be absolutely filled with street musicians throughout the holiday weekend, and the first time you run across one, it'll be wonderful.

Brockhampton announced a tour with no boston dates but a gap around the philly and nyc dates. Would bet money that theyre playing a couple nights at the new Roadrunner venue given their new album has the same name lmao

The annual ArtBeat street fair is happening, with live musical performances, on Sat, July 10, rain date Sun, July 11.
They're eliminating the crafts booths to avoid the usual pedestrian crowding, and dropping the second stage in front of Redbones, but the Seven Hills Park main stage is back, with dance in the morning and live music all afternoon and evening.
Once Somerville, after losing their brick-and-mortar club, has signed a deal to promote 20 ticketed outdoor shows at a big open space called Boynton Yards that's roughly between Atwood's Tavern on Cambridge St. in East Cambridge and the Somerville Target. The shows which have already been announced range from 1-3 act shows to dozen acts plus.
Everything announced so far has been local, but it makes sense that it would take a little longer to book touring acts.
Starlight Square, in Central Square, is a crafts market with a seated performance area in back. All performances are free and live music is part of the mix. Again, this is local stuff, but shows are already happening, if you're ready to go out and hear live music. If you go to their calendar and hover your cursor over an event, it will pop-up a bigger window. Click on the event name in that bigger window for more details about that event.
Notable Boston indie rockers Hallelujah The Hills are playing a free show at the Charlestown Navy Yard on Saturday, July 17 at 6 pm (although the headlining set starts at 7 pm). If you enjoy Silver Jews, Pavement, Guided By Voices, or the Pogues, you'll almost certainly like HTH.
*Park Sounds in Harvard Square (first show on Fri, July 23)
*The new Charles River Speedway in Brighton, not too far from the site of Boston Calling, is promising a courtyard series, but no dates/names announced yet.
*Once Somerville is presenting a ton of ticketed local music at Boynton Yards, a new office park similar to CX. Check out their site for schedule.

Due to expected thunderstorms, the show has been rescheduled for Saturday, July 24 at 6 pm.
The Malden Summer Music Series is presenting a number of artists live, TBA, from 2 pm - 6 pm that day, too, so it should be convenient enough to make it a doubleheader via Orange Line, bike, or car. (It's on Pleasant St. in Malden Center, basically across the street from the T station on the other side of City Hall.)
With the first Park Sounds show in Harvard Square the previous night, that's a whole lot of free live music to enjoy.

busy travel schedule in second half of summer is really messing with my ability to see shows as they come through. looking like just Leon Bridges (9/18) and Soccer Mommy (9/23) before III Points.
So far I got DKM (8-21) and GWAR (10-29) at the Palladium, and Genesis (12-16) at the Garden.
I was interested in Leon Bridges but that was way too pricey imo. Ditto that Fixx show down in Fall River. There's some others but I'm on wait and see mode.
Considering Modest Mouse and King Crimson in that $20 promotion. Except, ya know, its the Pavillion. Not near the T, not easy to drive to, not cheap to park near.
