I just can't imagine we'll get Chance and Childish, and Chance seems a lot more likely. Wouldn't be surprised if Gambino shows up during his set though!

I mean, wouldn't it make sense to book two acts with a similar fan base? I don't think it's unrealistic at all. The only issue would come from Childish having just been there in 2015, but it's not back to back so no biggie.

Gambino was my favorite set of 2015. I don't expect him back but it would be very welcomed by me.
I wouldn't be mad at a Gambino do-over, I had a fun time at his show but it was when I got lost and I was half trying to enjoy the show and half trying to find my friends that had my camelbak.

With G-Eazy last year and Mackle/Post Malone this year I am fed up with the shitty white rappers taking up a spot on Roo's lineup, if they give us Mac Miller or Iggy Azalea I'm gonna lose my marbles.
I wouldn't say Mac Miller and G eazy are on the same level. Mac has grown as an artist over the years. I would consider it a good booking. Just my opinion though.

I'll admit I haven't been keeping up with Mac since 2012 or so, but the few songs I have tried to listen to have just not been good for me. I used to really dig his vibe but I dunno, something definitely seems to have changed (imo for the worse) from the days of K.I.D.S. and Best Day Ever. But like I said I haven't devoted myself to giving all his newer releases full listens.

A fairly reasonable (individually, not as a group) and eclectic wish list I expect to actually see maybe one of on the real lineup
Avalanches Beck Beach boys Black moth super rainbow Buckethead Blockhead The books Boris Chic Dweezil Plays Zappa (or whatever their name is by then) Erykah badu Femi kuti Flight of the conchords Foxy Shazam Iron Maiden New mastersounds Nick cave Of Montreal Poolside Regina spektor Santigold Sleater-Kinney Malkmus and the jicks Tori Amos Trombone shorty

Fwiw, Mac Miller is terrible live. Unless you like being told to put your hands in the air and jump repeatedly. He stresses the importance of this before every song.

Isn't that what makes his music the best and funest though?

Admittedly, I do forget to do this on occasion. But when I remember it lifts my spirits, so there's something to be said for that.

Does he also instruct every body to fucking jump? Always helpful to be reminded of that by performers.

His new stuff is definitely better, so give it a listen is you have some time. I think starting with his mixtape Faces he started getting some critical acclaim. I'm still not really a fan, but he's a different artist than he was back then. Here's a really good (kinda long) profile on him someone wrote during his last album's rollout if you're interested: noisey.vice.com/blog/mac-miller-go-od-am-2015-profile
Let's revive this thread, For Funk/jam-Tronica/whatever you wanna call it acts 2014- Break Science, Umphs 2015- Dopapod, STS9, Gramatik 2016- Papadosio, the Floozies, Griz 2017- Lotus, The Werks, EOTO, Pretty Lights?
I would love a Werks Thursday night set and a Lotus late night set. With Dopapod and Papadosio both having pretty good size crowds I would be pretty surprised if they didn't book The Werks next year.
Would Roo ever try to book Swans? They'd be great for a late night tent set
They played to like 20 people in the middle of the afternoon in 2013.
So the answer is no then
I've still never been to Roo (joined inforoo for speculation on the late Firefly 2015 lineup), but I do hope they book a lineup that will convince me to make the trip.
