It's always hurtful to see a Shaky Knees lineup when looking from Roo's perspective, but this could have been way, way worse. The mocks that were popping up in that thread turned out to be hurtful for them. They probably could have used some Juggs realism in that thread to temper expectations.
This is stupid of me, but I'm somewhat hopeful for Roo now.
PJ Harvey Beach House Local Natives Alt J - Guilty pleasure, fight me. Modest Mouse The Roots Ryan Adams Air Animal Collective Franz Ferninand Rufus Parquet Courts Francis and the Lights Future Islands Jagwar Ma Naked and Famous St. Vincent
Plus some decent acts floating around that Shaky wouldn't book because of genre.
Seems like there is enough solid artists out their for the taking that Roo could hypothetically capitalize on.

But that's not where I would put my money, sadly.

Can't remember if it was juggs or somebody else, but someone did point out about a month back that things were getting a little Hangout-y in the SK thread. Expectations tend to get out of check when a festival books a couple of excellent lineups in a row.
In addition, as we continue to be spoiled by tons of opportunities to see live music in a festival setting, it's inevitable that lineups start looking more disappointing. The production of new and rad live acts can't keep up with our propensity to consume the existing supply. I think it's one of the reasons I find myself both (A) reverting to jambands who I know are going to put on a unique shows and (B) branching out further into electronic music, trying to find something new.

My honest reaction to the Shaky Knees lineup was that I'd be way more excited if I didn't go to so many damn festivals.

I'm actually not spoiled by the opportunity to see tons of live music due to financial constraints. So oversaturation doesn't move me in the slightest. A band could play outside of the southeast 0 times or a million times and it wouldn't really make a difference to me until they play in Jacksonville, Orlando, or at a festival within a certain radius... and also not conflict with work.
To be honest, I like the Shaky Lineup a lot. They just acted like all of the sudden every single worthwhile act had agreed to do one festival.
As much as I like a bunch on Shaky Knees, I am all the sudden hopefully for Bonnaroo. A bunch of acts that I thought would be on Shaky Knees are not and there are two crossovers that we know of, maybe we will get another or two? I am waiting with bated breath for tomorrow's roo drop.
Glass Animals live show has gotten so damn good over the last 2 years.
Saw them in 2015 and there was a crowd probably wouldn't have even fit under two tents. Hope if they do come back they get a late set at which.
That crowd was SO BIG it was insane. and I saw them here in Columbus days after their album released and everyone knew the words to every song. It was amazing.

Exactly. I'm thinking the "no significant crossovers" thing may not be much of a thing at all anymore, especially with an act as high on the SK lineup as CTE already confirmed for Roo.

I'm pretty sure they were already ruled out due to a festival in Europe.
"Tom Petty & The Heartbreakers’ Benmont Tench is featured on keys, and the LP includes collaborations with Patrick Carney, Father John Misty, Pat Sansone, Nate Wolcott, Paul Cartwright, and Dhani Harrison"
I know it's been said multiple times before and probably won't happen, but can we PLEASE get Brand New this year?
I thought they broke up?
Negative, gorblata.
Last night while performing in Vancouver, frontman Jesse Lacey put those rumors to rest. He addressed the crowd:
"...Music anymore, so blame Spotify. That's not true. We're not breaking up. We're just not going to play for anyone else anymore, we're just going to play for ourselves. Thanks very much for being here."

Would love to hear people's thoughts on what slightly out-of-left-field artists they'd like to see Bonnaroo book.
A couple ones I could think of: Esperanza Spalding Aretha Franklin S U R V I V E (the band who did the Stranger Things music, they're playing Primavera, hopefully they could come back for Roo) Jon Batiste & Stay Human Angelique Kidjo Kaitlyn Aurelia Smith Femi Kuti
