It doesn't seem like it would be that hard, although I've never been to Firefly. You're basically just selling overnight parking passes, so you have a section for Thursday & Saturday then another for Friday & Sunday or something like that.
I don't think this necessarily means tickets are selling poorly, it doesn't strike me as a major change like it does to everyone else. Then again, I don't think this lineup is any worse than most other years, so what do I know?
its worse. its a lot worse.
Especially when you consider that Muse and The Shins are both on Sunday.
Friday/Saturday are going to be a minefield of EDM and shitzy pop. Here's the best care for those 2 days:
Friday:The Weeknd, Glass Animals, The Naked and Famous, Franz Ferdinand, Bleachers, Francis and the Lights, Hamilton Leithauser Saturday: Chance, Bob Dylan, Weezer, Miike Snow, Flume, Kaleo, RKS, Bob Moses, Maggie Rogers,
Which is unfortunate because they should have just left it as Muse - 21P - Chance and stacked up the undercard. Granted, I'm not sure who was available that late in the game.
for me personally, going off of the current lineup, what would of gotten me there would of looked like
Muse - TOP - Chance Flume - Weezer - The Shins - 30STM - Pretty Lights (Live) - Sigur Ros Sturgill Simpson - MGMT - Dillon Francis - The Roots - Miike Snow - Father John Misty Spoon - Kesha - Franz Ferdinand - Mac Demarco - Galantis - Beach House Glass Animals - Phantogram - AFI - Tycho - Capital Cities - OK Go
i think it feels realistic given The Weeknd and Bob Dylans large costs.

Yea not only could the top lines be beefed up, but really the lines farther down. This lineup drops off so fast. After about line 10 it becomes "Who the fuck is this?". Sturgill would blow away a preheadliner spot. He sure did at Okeechobee.

ya booking the likes of Whitney, STRFKR, Thundercat, FIDLAR, Pond, Sam Gellaitry in the bottom lines doesnt seem that crazy.
So my guess is that they will not really police the single day camping at all (in terms of kicking people out). Mainly because that type of monintoring is pretty much impossible. The only way it would work is if they offer "friday arrival 3 day" "Saturday Arrival 2 day" type of option. Which, frankly, they could do with festival passes as well if they wanted.

Imagine how much better this lineup would look with Eddie Vedder as the 5th headliner instead of Bob Dylan. Would satisfy the fan curation theme as Pearl Jam is always top 3 in the fan vote. It's too bad he's in Europe.
Theme of this year seems to be Europe stealing all their ideal headliners.

Catskill Chill did single day camping. Basically they had a separate parking lot for the single day campers. They had to park there and the lot was towed at 10:30/11am the next day. Start with a new lot the next morning for the following night/day. I am sure there are people who get around leaving but I never heard of any issues.
he/they '12 - Firefly '13 - Firefly, Made In America '14 - Firefly, Made In America '15 - Mountain Jam (Sunday), Firefly, Pitchfork, Made In America '16 - Boston Calling, Firefly, Osheaga, Made In America, Roots Picnic NYC '17 - Boston Calling, Gov Ball, Firefly (Sunday), Pitchfork, Day For Night '18 - Boston Calling, Mountain Jam, Osheaga '19 - Form, Firefly (Sunday) '22 - Boston Calling, Firefly '24 - Solid Sound, Soundside

Saturday is an absolute joke. I only bought the camping passes thus far. I might just bail. For the total cost I'm just not seeing it. Sunday is the only good day.
man if Muse and TSTM were Sat this would be perfect for me. Leaning going Sat since it has the most acts im interested in and ive never seen most of them

If ToP werent headlining Friday and it just had one or two more interesting acts, Id consider going that day... They did a good job of spreading things out to make each day equally repugnant to anybody considering a single day.
