Noticed something interesting on Firefly's instagram post from yesterday. The post said there are 9 stages. Looking at the map from last year I count 7 stages. Unless they consider the toyota music den, and the silent disco a stage, does anybody think they will be adding an additional stage or two?

i think they're counting the two hub stages
You're right, haha I just thought that right after I posted.

Ended up getting a VIP ticket during the pre-sale. Hoping they fix a lot of the issues they had last year or this could be the last time I go which I would hate since this is basically 10 minutes away from me.

just realized that the jan 16th date that festive owl put out is the same day as the phantogram show. anyone else think its likely they announce the lineup at the show?

I was thinking they'd announce a few of the acts that night and then the next day or a few days later announce the whole lineup. They did that in 2015 I think... Chiddy Bang's show in Philly or something?

ya that was a day after the leak if i remember correctly. revealed a few acts like Bastille and EOTS. i think i would prefer the whole lineup at once though.

That's what they were supposed to do but then they had the massive delay/hilarity with Paul McCartney
After seeing the Coach and Gov Ball lineups I'm not feeling so great about our prospects. Looks like down years for both of them (for my taste at least), and I usually like both of their lineups way better than Firefly's. On a positive note I'm stoked to see that Phoenix and Beach House are making rounds.

I'd be incline to agree with you except I can't see Firefly booking that much rap, at least on the top lines. There's usually a couple but nothing as overwhelming as what Hangout and Gov Ball has.
Edit- ok after looking at Hangout they didn't have as much rap as I thought. Still, can't see two of our top 4 billed artists being rap.

Yeah, I think I'm waving the White Flag on the "Are Twenty One Pilots Headliners in 2017" argument officially after seeing Gov Ball. Apparently all you need is one good album in 2009 and you're set (Phoenix).
Seriously, I think after seeing all the lineups this year Firefly has a real opportunity to stand out. Everyone is skewing super young, so if Firefly leans in on what has brought past success (Alt Rock and awesome legacy headliner) I think it could be great. Or they could really just go full shitzy EDM instead and then FML.
Happy Firefly probably has Muse, that's a solid start.
I was thinking Lorde and Flume might be at Firefly, but those two plus Gambino would be a bit too close to the Gov Ball top 2 lines. My guess for the headliners is still Muse/The Weeknd/Twenty One Pilots. Maybe Pearl Jam or RHCP?
I know Firefly leans younger, more electro-pop, and less hip hop than Gov Ball, but I'm hoping there is some crossover with that undercard. I've been hoping for Beach House and Parquet Courts, and now they're a real possibility. Danny Brown, Car Seat Headrest, and Skepta would all be awesome as well.
Hoping Firefly gets Childish Gambino and Car Seat Headrest. Think we'll definitely get at least Flume, Cage the Elephant, Marshmello, The Head and the Heart, Local Natives and Franz Ferdinand. I'm sure there will be a few more.
Edit: I don't think Firefly will get Gambino though since he is top line.

RHCP/Muse/TOP for top 3.
They could go EDM ala Calvin Harris/Skrillex/Bassnectar for the 4. I could see Childish or Chance in the 4 as well.
I'm praying for a Pearl Jam one off.
Every FF headliner has been a radio-friendly alt or legacy band with the exception of Outkast, so I won't believe a hip-hop/pop/etc hliner until I see it.

Firefly caters to a young crowd, fully expect it to be no different than whats been released so far. But a Muse or Arcade Fire grab would prob get me there for a day.
My best guess for the lineup at this point would be:
Red Hot Chili Peppers- Muse- Twenty One Pilots- Alt-J Flume- Paramore- Odesza- The Shins- Wiz Khalifa- Cage the Elephant Haim- Bastille- The Chainsmokers- Phantogram- Incubus- Foals Glass Animals- Rae Sremmurd- Franz Ferdinand- Busta Rhymes
I imagine Chance the Rapper, Phoenix, Childish Gambino, & possibly Lorde are all off the table due to their high booking at Gov Ball. The xx is also playing in Philadelphia in May, which doesn't bode well for them playing Firefly. Praying for The Avalanches and Beach House.

The xx dont seem to really fit FF but having a Philly date in May wouldnt prevent them from playing. FF doesnt seem to care about their big acts playing nearby event he same weekend
My best guess at a top line right now would be Muse // 21P // Phoenix // Chance
I think this is right. Gut tells me there's no way we get both Muse and RHCP, and I can't see a repeat (RHCP) being a #1 billed artist. At least this soon. The other possibility would be Muse - 21P- The Strokes - Chance

I'd be super happy with either of these. Got my firefly ticket during presale so I'm hoping it doesn't let me down
Lets all get prepared for Muse-The Weeknd-21 Pilots-Skrillex
The Weeknd is already doing a pretty extensive East Coast tour only a few weeks before Firefly. That doesn't necessarily rule him out, but it would make it that much more underwhelming.

True. But Firefly didn't mind doing this with Florence last year, who played in New York and Philly like both nights before lol.
