21P would be Saturday. There's no way they would end the festival with them. They have to be smart enough to know a lot of people would leave early and they'd lose unnecessary money.
TOP I think even on a Sunday night would pull 40k people. They headlined Sat night at Music Midtown and had easily 30-40k there.
Oh they will def draw a crowd at Firefly. No question. But a large portion of the older crowd would skip out early if it's 21P closing out on Sunday. That would just be bad scheduling.
I don't see LCD being here. The target demographic for this festival probably has never heard of LCD.
I'm still holding out hope for LCD.
Same, I know it may be unrealistic but if they are on the lineup I'll be so pumped. Also, for the portion of the crowd that has never heard of LCD, that's why 21p would be booked as a headliner for a different night. I feel that Muse-LCD-21p-EDM Headliner would target their different demos pretty well.

If Chance is a headliner I think there would be 4 on the top line with someone like Phoenix there too. I'm kind of hoping for the Strokes to be the mystery headliner.
Here's something sort of out left field, but what about:
Fri- Muse Sat- Chance>21P Sun- Steve Miller Band
I think Steve Miller Band is headlining Friday at Mountain Jam IIRC.
Steve Miller Band is cannot be a 3rd headliner at this.
The past 3rd headliners at this thing have been Florence and the Machines, Kings of Leon, Jack Johnson (back when he was a thing), VampWeek/Foster, Jack White. Those are all arena-level acts. Steve Miller Band played a 2,000 person theater in my town in November. Every odd number year they've gone with a big legacy headliner so here goes nothing...
Eric Clapton ~ Muse ~ Twenty One Pilots ~ The Chainsmokers

You are right on the Steve Miller thing. That was like picking up a baseball and throwing it from left field, 6 fields over. I feel Clapton and Muse would blow their budget pretty good by themselves. Hey I'm ok with it though.

Muse- 21P - The Strokes - Chance
Fr- Muse Sat- Chance>21P Sun- The Strokes
If they decide to go with 4 headliners in 3 nights again like last year, an important thing to note is that the 2nd headliner on Saturday is going to be playing until 1:30 or 2 AM. I dont think there is a chance that they would have Twenty One Pilots play until 2 AM, and honestly I feel like it would have to be EDM. Maybe theyd have Chance play from 12:30 to 2, but that seems unlikely, especially because each of the other years they have had some pretty big name EDM act playing on Backyard until 2 AM

I think they would do it earlier than when Deadmau5 played, if they go with 4 headliners. Otherwise if they stick to three, the other headliner besides Muse and 21P would be something other than Chance or EDM. Perhaps just Muse - The Strokes- 21P.
Prob not. They don't really fit with the Firefly demographic.
Yes, definitely in play I'd think.
Firefly booked Morrissey 2 years ago - I don't think they're too concerned that LCD has a bit of an eclectic fan base. Plus theres an AEG relationship there.
LCD have basically played at every festival in the last year - and it's well known that Firefly cannot resist the bands that are Festival-slutty.

I think are a possibility but a far reach! You're right they did get Morrissey in 15. Like I said they stand to make a huge push to become a bigger player even above Hangout and Shaky but not if they book LCD in my opinion.

I'm sure they learned from 2015 when Glass Animals had just as large of an audience at one of the smallest stages (forest stage) as Morrissey did on the main stage not to waste money on what people aren't going to appreciate.

Definitely noticing more festivals taking this approach. Especially the big ones like Coachella, Roo and Lolla.

Feel like The Strokes haven't been discussed enough here. It's a shock they haven't headlined Firefly yet and I think they're set to release an album soon. Muse - The Strokes - LCD Soundsystem - Chance the Rapper
I feel like that Top 4 is realistic in terms of both budget and demographic. It would be considered a very solid top line. And no one would ridicule this fest for bringing back 21P for the 3rd time in 6 years.

That would be great but it's hard to fathom we are ducking 21P.
